If you're coming here to bitch about a community or ask to be allowed into a community, you will find yourself quickly banned from that community and this journal. No exceptions. So don't do it.

One of my email addresses got hacked earlier. I managed to kill the logged-in session (from China, of course) before they got emails out to more than the 70ish addresses that were sent to. Half of those bounced back, however, the other half didn't. Could have been far worse, as there are thousands of addresses in my contact lists on that account.

So if you were one of the people who received spam, my apologies. If you know anyone who received the spam, please apologize on my behalf.

Yes, all my passwords have been changed (by me) and I've gone to great lengths to figure out how it happened. I need to remember to not log onto my email on other people's computers. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is as careful about security as I am. Heh.

One of the things causing me to create this post is a recent package I received that simply appalled me. Not only the shoddy packaging (glass wadded into thin layers of tissue paper), but the complete inability of the seller to address the package properly, causing the package to almost end up lost. There was also a large issue with someone who ran a pre-order earlier in the year, who was lax on packaging, and I've noticed several feedback posts in a few communities mentioning poor packaging and damaged/lost items from various sellers.

If you've purchased from me in the past, you know that I try my best to package items as safely as possible. And that's because I ship items in the same manner I would want them shipped to me: with the best chance of survival within the chaos that is the postal system. For those who haven't purchased from me or have been too excited to get at what's inside to notice the packaging, I put this tutorial together, so that less experienced or infrequent sellers can perhaps start using some new techniques in their packaging & shipping practices. That way, there's less broken or damaged wearable art and - as long as the postal service doesn't manage to make it vanish into thin air - we all get what we want! Buyers get awesome new jewelry & sellers don't have to deal with non-positive feedback or refunds ;D
