randominity: (GW - Neriah)

After some sleuthing, the Nerd King and I have come to the conclusion that Apple replaced my graphics card and this justifies the NK's assertion that it was the graphics card all along. He's so insufferable when he's right (not really, thank goodness!) :P. Anyway, now that I have WoW installed on the MBP, I have all the graphics settings cranked to the max and have experienced no lag, no freezing, no crashes, and no performance degradation whatsoever. It's awesome \o/ (though still not as realistically stunning as GW).

I'm growing accustomed to the WoW thing. No, it's not as realistically stunning as GW, but there are some fantastical settings that I've never seen in GW and that are stunning in their own right. The Moonblade retreat, for one. It's remniscent of Lothorien, IMHO and quite lovely at that. I'm also getting used to navigating about. I still get lost from time to time, but not nearly as much, and I'm getting better about following clues and cues from the minimap and such. With each new character, I'm having to resort to checking the WoW wiki less and less, and that's nice. I'm also getting better at knowing when to purchase skills and armor and weapons, and when to sell things to build up some savings.

The first character I got to level 19, my Blood Elf, was running around with few skills, tattered armor, and nearly 1 gold in her bag. By the time I'd gotten my Night Elf, my Human, my Draenei, and my Undead characters to that level, I was all, "d'oh!" and ran around and bought all new armor for her, bid on a shiny weapon at the auction house, and topped up all her skills and talents. And now, she is prepared to be badass, and I feel so much better. All my characters I abandoned at some point or another because I was having too hard a time of it (again, I know, the teen levels aren't a great indication of what a character will be like at level 70), I feel okay coming back to with a little more knowledge, and level up a little more as well.

Not sure who I'm gonna play tonight. I think my Undead Warlock, as I am just so much fun with her Imp running around (he talks! How awesome is that? I love his little comments - "Do I HAVE to?/Can't we all just get along?/Oh, sure, send the little guy!/I do NOT get paid enough for this!" LOL)

Screencaps are for fun and yay!

This is my Blood Elf, Narivanna. She's the one who looks like Christina Aguilera during her black-haired days (and I kind of wish I'd named her that, now, but oh well!). She's a Priest. I like her okay, and I like playing a Priest okay, but mostly I played her because the starting Blood Elf areas are so sunny and nice in contrast to almost everyone else. Right now she's at the major city (which is so sunny! and nice!) and I'm postponing the next step of my journey because it involves going to Land of Burnination And Despair. And sunny and nice is just so much more pleasant.

Shaalii, my Draenei Shaman. I fell out of love with Shaalii pretty quickly due to my getting lost and killed all the time, but now that I have more of a handle on things I might give her a try again. Mostly I think she needs new armor. She's so cute, though - and Russian!

Erien, my Night Elf Druid. She's actually BLUE with PURPLE hair, but due to the crazy lighting of all the Night Elf starting areas, you can never tell. I can't wait until she gets somewhere sunny and you can actually tell what she looks like. I am not terribly feeling the Druid thing at the moment due to all the animal form quests I have in my quest log. I am thinking of just skipping them because I don't intend to go feral anyway. All the blue lighting is depressing me a bit, though, so I'm taking a break from her for a while ;).

Sidhaethe, my Human Mage and main character. Isn't she hot? The correct answer is "yes." One thing I will say about WoW vs. Guild Wars, is their human women are shaped like, well, human beings. They're not model thin with impossibly small waists and ginormous boobies. Sidhaethe's arms are muscular, and she's just a magic user! So I like this a lot. I am not sure how much I'm going to like playing a Mage, since they don't have built-in healing and that's something I value, but.... well, we'll see. I enjoy Neriah in Guild Wars muchly and she's pretty much the same thing, so. Here's hoping!

This is Elfaba, my Undead Warlock. "Elphaba" was taken, can you believe it? I'd like to meet that person and shake their hand. Anyway, as mentioned above, I am really enjoying the Warlock thing, and the Undead are kind of cute and funny in their own mangled way. I have yet to get a good shot of Elfaba in-game because she's a bit of a mouth-breather, but soon enough!

And in the "just for amusement" files:

Dark!Willow, the magic-addicted, black-haired Blood Elf Warlock. Heh. I will probably never play this through, but I had to have her.

This is what the Nerd King and I agreed he would most look like if he were magically transported to the WoW universe. We just had to get that chiseled jawline in, lol. V. Important Note: the Nerd King does NOT have a topknot. However, there is no "conservative Mormon-looking haircut" option, so there you have it.

Heh.

I should totally post about other things, but Other Things (tm) are generally works in progress and I don't want to have like, weekly posts saying, "about that thing, it's still there/growing/going away/sucking/rocking," etc. I had a wonderful long MLKJr weekend, thank you very much, spent with the Nerd King, during which I finally met his best friend who announced he would be the best man at our wedding (we sure have a lot of wedding plans laid out for a couple who aren't yet engaged.....). (By the way, about the Nerd King, he is still rocking.) That was Sunday afternoon. Sunday night we went to the mall for sushi, and got sidetracked by GameStop, at which NK made playdates with the cashiers and then bought a new RTS game for his computer, then went back to my place and installed it on MY computer, and played it while I played WoW in the next room, blasting the Chicago soundtrack loud enough for both of us to sing along to. HOW AWESOME IS MY LIFE!? You know, for the most part.

Anyway, that's all for now. I should post some other private stuff now for placemarkers and posterity. Will I remember to do that? Bwahahahahaha, right.
