Well, the Nerd King's birthday yesterday went pretty well. I got us tickets to Wicked and they turned out to be much better seats than I'd expected - close enough to see the actors' faces and, occasionally, their emphatic spit. He really enjoyed the show (yay!) though we were late getting out the door and really only arrived just as they were making the last call for seating. I had wanted to take the poor boy out to dinner beforehand but instead he had to buy a hamburger at a shop and eat it while we ran-walked umpteen blocks to the theater. My bad. At least the show was good? *sheepish*

I finally called Apple Support about my Macbook Pro freezing up all the time, and they are going to take it in for servicing or replacement if they can't fix the problem. Yay! Actually at first they said I was not covered under my Apple Protection Plan, which I TOTALLY purchased at the time I bought my MBP, only there was a mixup because the MBP I initially bought stopped working after about 16 hours and had to be replaced, and the plan was not transferred over to that MBP, so blah blah, confusion, and I ended up on the phone with them for over an hour all told. *shudder* I wish I'd called earlier, but I also don't, because - AN HOUR! At any rate, of course this means the MBP hasn't frozen ONCE since I made that call. Brat.

I caved and logged into StrangeMUD again the other day. To my surprise, the last character I made had not been deleted due to inactivity, though all her equipment was gone. She was only level 1, though, so killing a few easy critters for their hides is not terribly difficult. Also I checked at the bank and I seem to have miraculously amassed (or had mysteriously donated) 20,000 gold coins (seriously, where did that come from? Do all newbies get that amount now, or what? Because I can't believe I could have earned it!), I bought a weapon and a few other accessories and now I'm doing okay. Still level 1 though.
Mostly I'm back to StrangeMUD because I read that there's been a change of management since I last played, and I'm curious as to whether the game is fun again past level 10. I missed it so much. Getting back into it was sickeningly easy, remembering the commands, little things like how easy it is to create shortcuts and use abbreviations. Things like being able to kill the letter "e" in Sesame Street with a Pencil! I'm such a sucker for nostalgia.

I'm still looking for that perfect game, though. I should probably give Dungeon Runners another try. I'm also giving WoW a THIRD try, on a private server. Rarrrr.

Appropos of nothing, I'm now addicted to the Penny Arcade podcasts. I've been listening to one a night just to draw out the pleasure, and I'll be sad when I've gone through them all. I wish they uploaded one for every comic! Their conversations are just so freaking hilarious, and often they go through 2-3 ideas for a strip before settling on one, and they're all equally amusing.

Huh. I'm really thirsty. *drinks bottle of water in one sitting*

ETA: Oooh, I forgot stuff. On Tuesday we went to a meeting of a local atheists group, our first. We didn't reall know what to expect - 10-12 people and a directed panel or lecture? - but it was 35 or so people in a casual IHOP atmosphere, free to discuss whatever we liked at will. It was awesome. I actually feel like I could make friends there. Next month they're meeting on a day I can't make it, but the Nerd King is gonna attend without me, so I'm really glad we're both equally into this! Also, a Christian/ministry group was also at the IHOP, specifically to "dialogue" and witness to us, and those of us who did choose to talk with them were really respectful and that makes me proud. Yay OC Atheists!
