Randominity

Rupert had Harry Potter's eyes.

Dan had known this since the first screen test, when Rupert had stared and said, "you look more like him than any of the others, you know--" before censoring himself with a mouth snapped hastily shut. Deep green irises ringed with black, and Dan had envied them ever since.

There were contact lenses Dan was supposed to wear, bright green ones a little lighter in colour than was natural, but he couldn't make them work. He couldn't bear the sight of his own finger coming towards his own eye even if it was supposed to be painless like they said. He had cried a little, eyes red with irritation and tears mingling with the saline that dripped from his finger so that no one had to know. Chris had assured them that the color could be fixed in post-production, but the budget was tight and in the end nothing was done.

"We should trade eyes sometime," he said to Rupert once, and they had both laughed. "Then it would be perfect."

"What colour are Ron's eyes supposed to be, anyway?" Rupert had asked. Dan didn't know. "It doesn't matter anyway," Rupert had added, shrugging. "'S not like I've got Ron's freckles." He didn't have any, in fact; most of the redheads Dan knew had been more ruddy, with dark overtones in their hair where Rupert had blond. Rupert was different, with even, fair skin and his tendency to tan before he burned and his lack of eyelashes.

Dan had been wrong about that last part, catching Rupert once in the middle of a sideways glance and seeing long, blond lashes beat the air above his cheek.



Beats me. It woke me up last night (this morning). There's some Emma stuff in my notes, too, and I have no idea where I'm going with this. Brain == Eaten. And here I was trying to write a Harry/Ron drabble. Feh.
