randominity: (alan is myopic)

Brief, because my eyes are closed:

I can see. Vision 20/25 and could drive home from the post-op this morning. My eyes feel fine, right eye a little scratchy but that's to be expected. The actual laserizing took 40 SECONDS but there was a lot of sitting around fretting before that. Xanax is pretty cool. I didn't cry, but I did bust into a silly grin when the doc declared it over and I looked up and could see the attendant's face.

Next up, I sit with my eyes closed some more (boring) and then go into work this afternoon..... and then................?

ZOMG I SURVIVED LASIK. \o/

My icon is no longer applicable to me. *sniff*

ETA: I posted a detailed account of my experience to the [livejournal.com profile] lasik community [here].

ETA2: My bad - my vision was actually 20/25, not 20/30, at the one day post-op.

omg, look at you. I'm so scared of getting that done, mostly because I'm scared that my hotness will be decreased by a large amount if I don't have glasses.

Ha! You'll be hot either way. Me, I think I'm hotter without (the thickness of my lenses make my eyes (one of my better features) are.

Plus there's always fashion glasses! You can mix and match and it'd be cheaper if there's only clear plastic inside! Or not.

Congrats on the surgery! You're a braver soul than I am because I am never letting anyone near my eyes. I'm too afraid.

Anyway, congratulations to you!!!

Oh, I was extremely nervous going in. I was terrified I'd end up blinded (what if I was that 1%, you know?). So I understand not feeling confident enough to do it yourself. But then again, I was never squeamish about contact lenses, so.... :)

Yay! Go you! And I say this as someone who is currently too squeamish to even get contact lenses *shudders*

Hehehe thank you! I've never been afraid of contacts (begged for them, in fact, when I was a kid), but I understand it - that's a fear that makes sense! Things going towards your eye = not cool. Thank goodness I'm devoid of such squicks, though :P.

Thank you! I almost chickened out about a dozen times, to tell you the truth. In fact, when they - well, I won't go into it, but when they did this one actual surgical thing? I distinctly remember thinking, "okay, this is the part where I can't change my mind anymore." So... I sort of had to talk myself out of bravely running away quitting at the last minute. :)

Whoa, congratulations! That stuff scares the hell out of me, I'm glad you managed through it.

Bah, Beglassesed Alan can be a reminder of the happy days past. *sniffle* And now you can see him even more clearly!

Me == scared as hell also. I was hanging on a hope and a prayer, and I don't even pray! :P

I'm so glad it worked out for the best, and now I can sympathize for Alan and write fic where he and Nathan talk about Lasik and decide they're too squicked by it to have the procedure done! Hehehe.

Awww, I'm sorry I didn't call you then :(. I was sort of brain dead, so I blame the Xanax! My first coherent thought when I got up was "I have to let my flist know how it went!" >_>

I totally understand though, and I didn't call myself, though I thought about it. Just glad it worked out all right. *flail* You need new glassesless icons of you. XD

And, yeah. As soon as I win the lottery. :P

Hehehe I chose a new computer over Lasik, too - it's just that I had extra funds in this case :P. It's just such a risky thing (in my opinion) to invest your money in. Of course, having said that, I think it was SO WORTH IT and I'm so thrilled that I had it done, because... yay, man. Just yay.

that is awesome. i keep saying i'm going to do it one of these days. i didn't realize that there was a comm for it.

*needs to do the serious research on it* guess it will wait for after the baby though...

Yeah, the comm is great for asking questions and even hearing horror stories ('cause you need to see both sides). It was an awesome experience, though!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYZES. Aw, Em...I'm so happy (and relieved) that everything worked out for you. That makes three of my friends...well, two friends and a sister in law, lol, that have had their eyes done and if I didn't love my glasses so much, I might contemplate the whole Lasik thing myself. ... In a few years. ;o) ::hugs:: So glad that everything went well!

Thank you! I say, if you like your glasses, enjoy them! I thought my glasses were cute, but I sure didn't enjoy having to wear them -_-;; so, I'm glad my eyes get to be big and round and free now, lol. *HUGS*
