This is why I hate the media AND the Black Block. Over 100,000 people in a peaceful protest against the global attack on public services, and the coverage is about twenty people with paint bombs.

Police in London say protesters threw paint bombs and light bulbs filled with ammonia at officers during a demonstration against U.K. budget cuts.

When the city bureaucracy says things that aren't true - Greater Ottawa

Faced with a mildly embarrassing situation, a city spokesperson said things that weren't true, a deputy city manager told her bosses on council things that weren't true, and the acting general manager of OC Transpo said more things that weren't true. And they did this knowing that the truth was goin...

Do I think that Earth Hour is almost a classic example of corporate greenwashing, and an attempt to replace real action with feel-good tokenism. Why, yes I do. Mythcommunication: It’s Not That They Don’t Understand, They Just Don’t Like The Answer «

I just read a paper from the discipline of conversation analysis. It dovetails nicely with what I wrote in Talking Past Each Other, and I’m going to go through some of the findings (I can’t redistribute the paper itself), and talk about some conclusions. Long story short: in conversation, “no” is...

Nice little tool from the CCPA that really drives home visually the tradeoffs and alternate choices that are in a budget.
