Super random and potentially stupid question but how do you draw so many details in your ocs/fanart? Especially in character design. I’ve been trying to get better with designing my ocs and drawing details/patterns is super hard

HI HELLO that’s a good question!!
I may not be very good at giving advices or tips, but I’ve been collecting fashion photo references from Pinterest and following personal fave artists and professional character designers from different social medias especially ArtStation. (they have a LOT of amazing character designs/concept art I SWEAR) My another tip is to look for unused designs from art books as well!! It’s very important and has been a habit of me to download these things hehe.
Like you mentioned, I agree that character designing is super hard. It took me longer to add more details while drawing honestly, so you have to work patiently and with more effort!! You can also create a “design map” while you add it! I do this sometimes to keep my ideas on track! This is how I make as examples:
