1. Where is the Wei Wuxian-centric vid to "I of the Storm" by Of Monsters and Men? If one doesn't already exist, it needs to. "Are you going to love me when I'm gone? I fear you won't. I fear you don't."
2. My meta post on the donghua watch has grown into such a monster that I'm working on splitting it up into several posts. I love long-form discussion, but there is such a thing as a post that's too long and rambly to really engage with, and I feel like the first draft of my post definitely went that way.
3. I've been doing my next rewatch of The Untamed on Amazon Prime. I decided to go ahead and start over, which was a good call, because this is a different translation again from Viki, Netflix, or the DVDs. It's a mess, frankly, and after complaining about it to Eliza, she suggested it might be AI-generated. That would certainly explain the truly bizarre infelicities of grammar and word choices, though I feel like it had to have run past human eyes at some point for Hanguang-jun to end up translated as "Second Childe Lan." Oh, yes, it is a dreaded "childe" translation, as indeed was the donghua sub I watched. And I've been taking notes, but they reference my meta about the donghua, so I need to get that up first. Which I'd better do soon, since I've already watched up through ep 12 of the drama.
4. Saturday before last, I tracked down and watched MDZS Q on YouTube. I have no idea if I caught all of it, and I know I watched several episodes out of order. I was only able to find the first dozen or so episodes on a single channel, and from there I mostly just let YouTube grab associated video, only skipping when it started to play either an episode I'd seen before, a fanvid, or something related to the donghua. Anyway, it was a wonderful way to pass a few hours, and I highly recommend it to any fan of MDZS/CQL who hasn't yet watched Q. The character designs are adorable, the background animation is as lovely as the donghua, and the story is surprisingly faithful to the source material in the lightest, sweetest, kindest way possible.
5. The temperature is yo-yoing here and I spent Thursday evening through yesterday with a migraine because we've got storms coming. They're not hurricanes, though. The temp is supposed to drop on Friday and stay that way through the weekend, and then we'll see what next week holds. Sis and I picked up some autumn-scented candles on sale Thursday afternoon. We'd been waiting for cooler weather to burn them, but sis broke down and started burning one today. It's a smoked vanilla and woods scent, and while wood notes can be hit or miss with me, this one smelled acceptable in the jar and smells exactly the same while burning. This bodes very well for the other, more foodie scents we nabbed.

Date: 2022-09-26 10:10 pm (UTC)Yes! I am completely charmed by the MDZS Q version, and amazed at how the cutesy style somehow still manages to ring true to the source. ♥
(I die at WWX drinking Emperor's Smile with a straw, juice box style. XD )

Date: 2022-09-27 06:53 am (UTC)The donghua version I'm watching seems to be a different translation to what I've seen before, but happily, childe-free! (Guodongsubs, fwiw.)
