Eliza and I were talking in chat, and this just...happened. It's been a long time.

Otabek prefers to explore a city's limits on the back of a motorcycle. He's not much of one for social media, but Yuri gets photos of sunrises and sunsets from roads winding up into snow-blurred mountains, overlooking sere valleys and windswept plains, running alongside chill gray seas and lakes. When they compete together, Yuri helps Otabek pick something out that will comfortably seat them both.
"This one," Yuri says, pointing to a sleek, modern piece of Japanese engineering painted with metallic gold and black tiger stripes. Otabek looks at it, raises an eyebrow, then turns the eyebrow on Yuri. "What?"
Otabek turns back to the motorcycle he'd been examining, a vintage black number that reminds Yuri of the one he'd ridden in Barcelona that first time. "This one." Then he looks at Yuri again, and no one else would catch the sly humor in his eyes. "We'll see if they have a helmet with tiger stripes for you."
When Otabek rescued him from his stalker fans, Yuri had clung to the bike as they rode away from the hotel, careful not to touch Otabek in his uncertainty. Now Yuri rides pressed up against Otabek's back, inhales leather and motor oil and Otabek's shampoo. He's the one who takes pictures as they pass through the city, selfie mode on and one arm raised to try to catch the look of serene concentration on Otabek's face, the other tight around Otabek's waist. He rarely has any idea where they're going, and he never cares.
He's already where he wants to be.

Date: 2019-01-24 06:17 pm (UTC)Tell me about Nat and her road trip of identity crisis after TWS. I have some questions that maybe you can answer (or not; don't feel obliged if none of these help get the words flowing). Was there anything about the Red Room in the Hydra files she released onto the 'net? Does she follow any of those leads first, or did she track down Fury first so they could have a
father/daughtermentor/mentee chat? Does she run across Yelena or any of her other "sisters"? What abouta mysteriously youthfulDottie Underwood? Did her training and Bucky's have anything to do with each other? Do their (murder) road trips dovetail? Is Clint Sir Appearing-in-This-Fic?Remember, too, it only has to be a drabble. One scene from the road trip. Maybe the one most relevant to the theme of "road trip," and you can save others for other squares. I actually kind of like the idea of a series of interlinked stories told that way, across a whole bingo card (please, please, please do not consider this pressure to do that with yours).

Date: 2019-01-30 06:36 pm (UTC)I actually have a Maria/Nat reconciliation scene drafted (because my Maria and Nat are a little closer and that means MARIA also didn't trust Nat, and that Fury trusted Maria instead) but Fury and Nat reconciling is interesting -- I love how wry she is with "That's as close as he gets to saying thank you," but she avoids talking to Steve until Fury takes off and her "Noooo" when he asks if she's going with Fury is pretty telling.
Does she run across Yelena or any of her other "sisters"?
HELL YES
Do their (murder) road trips dovetail? Is Clint Sir Appearing-in-This-Fic?
OH YES
I actually kind of like the idea of a series of interlinked stories told that way, across a whole bingo card
I really liked interlinked stories that work that way too! That stand on their own, but also form part of a bigger whole, and open up that way. THANK YOU, this has given me so many ideas already.
(Black Widow movie is supposed to begin shooting in FEB. Dare we hope -- )

Date: 2019-02-14 03:31 am (UTC)That is my thinking, too. Like, there's a part of me that would kind of like it if the Red Room was separate from Hydra, but then the whole point of Hydra is that they have infiltrated everything. There was definitely stuff in those files.

Ooh, I LOVE that. We never get enough Maria either, and Nat and Maria having it out about trust issues--perhaps resulting in Maria joining the murder road trip--would make for a great Found Families fill.
I love how wry she is with "That's as close as he gets to saying thank you," but she avoids talking to Steve until Fury takes off and her "Noooo" when he asks if she's going with Fury is pretty telling.
Isn't it just? The setup was right there for not just Up All Night to Get Bucky, but also the Black Widow movie, and instead they've all had to waste years on Feige playing ultimate action figure showdown in a backlot.
I really liked interlinked stories that work that way too! That stand on their own, but also form part of a bigger whole, and open up that way. THANK YOU, this has given me so many ideas already.
Yay! I'm so glad. I have so many what ifs for Nat, but I just can't write the kind of stories that would answer them, never mind writing Nat to my own satisfaction. Your Nat, though, she rings true to me. I also have the title for...not a fairy tale AU, but like a story that employs some of the motifs of Vassilissa the Wise? Specifically, Nat and her training and her different personae make me think of how it's Vassilissa's doll, or the spirit of Vassilissa's mother in the doll, that accomplishes the impossible tasks Baba Yaga sets her, and urges Vassilissa to rest while she's working. And then there's the bit with the three horsemen, the white rider for dawn, the red rider for day, and the black rider for night, which kind of makes me think of Steve, Bucky, and Sam, though which is which rider is something I can't work out. Anyway, the title I was thinking was "Vassilissa Wakes," to give you an idea of my ambitions, but then I had no story to go with it. I thought maybe you'd know what to do with it.
(Black Widow movie is supposed to begin shooting in FEB. Dare we hope -- )
Hmm. I would dearly love to hope, but I just don't think I can believe it until there are actual trailers, and even then. Well. I don't trust Feige as far as I could spit on him.
