I forgot how much I like doing math* when the concepts I'm practicing are within easy referencing reach. Which is a good thing, because I have to do a lot of the practice problems to get any of those concepts to stick, which would be why school has eaten my life, though I'm only taking three classes this period.
Of course, one of those classes is English 101. I could have CLEPed out of it, but writing professionally is no guarantee you'll do well at writing for schoolwork, so I figured I'd take the chance the class would be a snoozefest in case I really would learn something. So I have only myself to blame that the first few weeks have not been thrilling. Anyway, English 101 means I can do schoolwork while watching M.net, which my cable provider carries as a standard channel. Mostly it's background noise and creepily doll-ified bands that blend into one another, but Hello Pop has promised me a profile of Shinhwa before the hour is out. I just have to refrain from breaking things when SM gets props for...well, anything, really. I look at their new little baby groups and think, "Oh, kids, if only you knew how the future will break you." And I'm probably running the risk of getting an eyeful of Lords of the Fall.** We'll see how that goes if it happens.
*I had a very traumatic experience with math in junior high, when my father insisted on trying to tutor me. He's frankly a lousy teacher, he and I were seriously butting heads anyway, and word of advice to the parents out there, if your kid is struggling with the principles of basic algebra, that is not the time to give a lecture on the history of calculus and then rant at your kid when she doesn't spontaneously start applying the concepts of higher math. I failed the class that year, then aced it the next year when I got a new teacher and forbade my father to so much as look at my homework. Then came geometry, which was all about art for me, so that was good.
**My name for the Yunho-Changmin unit, which I think the rest of fandom calls TVXQ2. This was based on both the only video I've seen from them, and on my sense that they chose to stay in purgatory rather than risk that the light beyond the doors might be hellfire.
