if you don't love and support trans men and transmascs, get the fuck off my blog

decided I needed an intro post but didn't wanna remove the above sentiment.

anyway, Hello! My name is Maddie or Rain, she/her/it. I'm a 20 year old trans woman majoring in mathematics, based in the US but looking to escape. There is very little organization to this blog unfortunately but I mainly reblog queer stuff, activism, and mental health stuff. I'll also reblog fandom content (which as of July 2026 consists mainly of PHM/Iron Lung/Bloodymary and Game Changer as the newish things), funny/interesting posts, and occasionally make a shitpost. Nice to meet you and welcome to my blog!

also im very bad at tagging things, sorry in advance.

sideblogs are listed here:

i don't really have other socials but mutuals can ask for my discord if so desired! i'm more likely to be chatty over there

also my posts are tagged '#from rain' but other than that im quite inconsistent

the old "all trans people I know are mentally ill to some degree even if I don't believe being trans is itself a mental illness" line is a classic case of torturing you to insanity then torturing you for being insane

like do you have any idea how rude people are about all of this of course I'm insane

girl who is so so scared all the time. girl who once passed as 'smart' but now finds it hard to think. girl who's always half lost because of memory issues and dissociation and trouble with inhabiting a physical space. girl who is a failure in a way that is neither interesting nor endearing.

Getting a phone call about an assassination attempt hits a little bit different on the 1988 Spuds Mackenzie promotional telephone

My mom: So there was a shooter at the correspondents' dinner- Me: Excuse me what. What did you say. My mom, with deepest sorrow: But the president is alive and unharmed- Me: Go back did you say there was a shooter. You're on the dog. My mom: I'm on the dog???? Me: Yeah you're on the dog

No apology necessary. As a Homestuck who grew up with this dogphone in my house, I instinctively read the original chatlog in the aggrieved voice of my grandfather answering his office phone with "I better not be on the dog"

If you pay your credit card on time and never have to deal with interest or late fees, your credit card company will start offering you cards with much higher limits, sometimes as much as 10x your current limit. You gotta remember that even if that's fine for a lot of people, those offers are specifically designed to be traps, not rewards. Credit card companies do not like "deadbeats", people who pay off their card in full and on time, because they make the vast majority of their money off of interest and fees. They want to increase your limit so that you get careless and spend more than you can actually afford.

It is extremely easy to fall into credit card debt, especially if you get comfortable. Getting a higher limit can help improve your credit score but going into debt because of that limit will tank it anyway, so just be careful.

Hello to everyone who saw this post and decided that to pay their credit card bill. Happy Pay Your Credit Card Bill Day.

I think disability justice would be easier if abled people understood that being disabled is a mixture of all three of

  1. I can’t do that without negative consequences
  2. I can’t do that unless I have support for it
  3. I can’t do that

and that trying to treat one of these as if it’s another one will get you nowhere.

Hello friends we need to talk about this twitter account:

You might know him from a thread where he was getting wowed by free appetisers in a Mexican restaurant.

Firstly: He is doing a bit pretending to be a wandering samurai. It's a joke and his posts are all made up. This is very obvious if you actually look at his account and website:

He does purport to be Japanese but based on some of the other content he posts there's reason to believe he's British.

Which brings me to my second point: his Samurai content is interspersed with posts like this:

And this:

He is not cute or funny. Stop platforming him.

The chips and salsa thread went viral in June and his website seems to have gone live in July. This confirms what I suspected which is that said website with it's explicit disclaimers was made in response to the big viral hit.

Consequently, back when he first blew up it was potentially a bit harder to figure out that his stories are fictional. That said, the New York Times worked it out so I'm comfortable accusing outlets who ran the story describing him as a Japanese world cup tourist of legitimately terrible journalism.

Regarding some comments in the notes:

Yeah this is also the guy from the truck thread going around. That's what prompted this post and in retrospect I should have said so explicitly.

He claims he just uses AI to translate his posts from Japanese. He also says the art on his website isn't AI generated. I think he is full of shit on both counts.

I only gave a couple of examples but even on a brief look through his twitter it was apparent that he posts a LOT about UK politics to the point where he's quite patently British. He is a Restore supporter which is a party that split away from mainstream far right party Reform due to feeling they weren't right wing enough.

It might not surprise you to hear he does not seem to know shit about Japan? Both the salsa story and the truck story failed the smell test for people who are familiar with Japan. There's also a story about going to a potluck where he seemingly couldn't come up with a single Japanese dish for the character to cook??

Yeah his whole bit is racist and it is troubling that so many people took a guy badly roleplaying as a medieval samurai to be a 21st century Japanese tourist.

It's a literal nazi AI slop account.

I’m every one in this

MAN 1 (in a high pitched, whiny voice) Look what you’ve done to my peonies!

WOMAN (angrily) They’re marigolds!

MAN 2 God! I think she’s right! They are marigolds!

MAN 1 I may not know my flowers, but I know a (yells in her direction) bitch when I see one!

I looked this up because I had to know what it’s from. It’s a film called The Gay Deceivers (1969), and it’s about two straight men who, seeking to avoid the draft, claim to be gay, but then have to keep up the pretense when the army places them under surveillance.

The man in the red cardigan in the clip was played by Michael Greer, who was openly gay himself - unusual for the time. He actually worked closely with the director and rewrote much of the film’s dialogue to reduce the homophobia and make it more realistic. As a result it’s quite progressive for its time, having a gay character, played by a gay man, living in a happy same-sex relationship, which is more than a lot of media offers us today.

Plus the clip is delightful.

I just needed this again.

Earlier this week we had a mom come in to drop off a prescription for her teenaged son. And she let us know that they'd recently legally changed his name so it was different on the prescription. My pharmacist was like that's fine, we can change it, we don't need to see the court order we just need to make sure it matches the insurance for billing, etc. And she said "his name is James* now but it's in your system as Kenna." And I (other side of the pharmacy) went "Oh, good for him." And she zeroed in on me and yelled "YEAH! GOOD FOR HIM! :D"

Anyway after she left my pharmacist was like "I'm not entirely sure what's going on here." And I had to be like "Dude. He's transgender."

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me that they microchip zoo animals. Something to ponder the next time you place a penguin in your backpack.

This post was inspired by a video posted by the Hereford Zoo where they mentioned that they microchip their sengis, thus spoiling my grand plans…
