Hungry!

I gave up fast food/restaurants for Lent.

Not that I follow Lent (I'm not Catholic), but I like to challenge myself. I'd follow Ramadan, too, if it wasn't for the fact that I work in a factory, and in the summer, it would be very dangerous.

Really, though, the whole point was to a) stop eating so late at night, and b) save money for England.

The result so far is that I eat other things when I get home instead, that I saved up monies, and that I am really really really really REALLY craving some McDonalds, right now.

I am currently over at my in-laws for some undisturbed writing (which turned into undisturbed reading and napping and plotting and research), and am fighting with myself to just go home in order to cook something and NOT stop over at McDonalds. I know that I could probably make something here, but I don't like rummaging through other people's kitchens, even if it is just my in-laws...

I haven't eaten since breakfast, so my stomach requires sustenance.

Guess I'll just pack up and go home (after I ask my father-in-law about my car...), since I wasn't being as productive as I would have liked...

Writer's Block: “We built this city on rock and roll”

What are your favorite song lyrics, and why?

The rain, it started tapping on the window near my bed.
There was a loophole in my dreaming, so I got out of it.
To my surprise my eyes were wide and already open.
Just my nightstand and my dresser where those nightmares had just been.
So I dressed myself and left then, out into the gray streets.
But everything seemed different and completely new to me.
The sky, the trees, houses, buildings, even my own body.
And each person I encountered, I couldn't wait to meet.
I came upon a doctor who appeared in quite poor health.
I said "there's nothing that I can do for you {that} you can't do for yourself."
He said "Oh yes you can. Just hold my hand. I think that would help."
So I sat with him a while then asked him how he felt.
He said, "I think I'm cured. No, in fact, I'm sure of it.
Thank you Stranger, for your therapeutic smile."
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone.
And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow.
But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself, it's best to compose a poem.
An honest verse of longing or a simple song of hope.
That is why I'm singing, Baby, don't worry cause now I got your back.
And every time you feel like crying, I'm gonna try and make you laugh.
And if I can't, if it just hurts too bad, then we will wait for it to pass.
And I will keep you company through those days so long and black.
And we'll keep working on the problem we know we'll never solve,
Of Love's uneven remainders, our lives are fractions of a whole.
But if the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall.
Then I think we would see the beauty, Then we would stand staring in awe,
At our still lives posed like a bowl of oranges,
like a story told by the fault lines and the soil.

Writer's Block: Globetrotting

If you were given the opportunity to spend two weeks in any country in the world free of charge, which country would you choose, and why?

Well, I'm going to give two answers, here. Because, first and foremost, I want to go to Egypt. DESPERATELY. Because I am completely in love with Egypt through everything I've read and watched, and I really just want to go and experience it all for myself.

But, in all actuality, Sari and I are going to India. Because, apparently, that's where our adventures will begin on making us rich. And, hey. What better way to become rich than by a trip that is FREE OF CHARGE. Right? *snickers*

IN OTHER NEWS, work sucks so much that I revised my resume yesterday, and am going to apply to places today. I'm totally ready to go back to factory work, after everything that I've been through just in the last few weeks alone. Ugh.

Shakedown are right next door at the All Around, tonight. I can't wait, because I bought Sam a t-shirt. It says "Save a drum, bang a drummer". XD It's totally befitting. Perv-monkey. I *heart* Sam. So bad. <333

Johnna and I went to karaoke last night. It was a full house at the beginning, but then widdled down to next to nobody at 12:30AM, and Johnna and I were the only ones left singing. And so, with no more ideas on what to sing, Julie (the DJ) decided to play "karaoke roulette" with us, by making us choose a number in between 1 and 59 (the disk), A or B (the side), and 1 to 12 (the track), and having us blindly sing whatever was chosen. Johnna chose disk number 33 for me, which, unfortunately, contained all old '70s songs that I did not know. We flipped through the tracks and paused at one called "Hard To Handle". I'm like wait... that sounds familiar. So I look at the artist, and saw "O. Redding" and I'm like... I know a few Otis Redding songs. So I wait for the rhythm to start, and Johnna and I go "OH!" because I TOTALLY knew the song, because I know the Black Crowes version, and, also, Shakedown sing it. HA! Unfortunately, I don't know the lyrics very well, and the words were slow to come to the screen for how fast you were supposed to sing them. So at the really fast "Pretty little thing, let me light your candle 'Cause mama I'm sure hard to handle, now, gets around" part, I was just silent as the words went by. XD Oh well. I then chose a song for Johnna and she sang it, and we decided to see what the next track was. It was "Dream On" by Aerosmith, so we both sang it. The next song, though, neither of us knew, so we had Julie change disk. Julie decides to go with "lucky number 13", I can't remember what letter she chose and the reasonning behind it, and track number 9, because nine is her lucky number. The song was meant for me, except that I had no idea what it was. Julie skipped tracks a few times, and found a song that Johnna knew, so Johnna sang it, instead. Julie skipped a few more, and all I see is the artist "Spindoctors". Julie asks if we know it as I look up at the title: "Two Princes". Johnna wasn't sure, but I'm like I DO!!!! So I sang it. Again, not very familiar with all the lyrics, I fumble in a few places, but quickly regain my place. Woo! Johnna sang two more songs, then we were done for the night. What fun to sing random songs, like that!

P.S: My friend Tammy is throwing an '80s themed party the second week of July. We have to dress up. She told me that she's going to dress up as Cyndi Lauper, because she has the perfect dress. I ponder for a moment on who I could possibly dress up as from the '80s. And then it hit me. "ALICE COOPER!" Tammy's eyes light up. I look at Thad. "Do you still have that huge plush snake that you used to have wrapped around the bedpost way back when?" I ask. "I think it's up in the attic." he answers. SCORE!!! :D I am totally dressing up as Alice Cooper. Muahahaha!

Writer's Block: MAKE IT STOP!

What was the last song you couldn't get out of your head no matter how hard you tried?

"Poker Face" by Lady Gaga. Last Tuesday and Wednesday.

I'd heard the song before. Heather (from Blackberry Brandy) sings it, but I never knew the lyrics to the song, or who it was from, or even what the title of the song was. And then we were playing The Karate Kid on the big screens in the electronics department, and every time I'd walk by the TVs, it would somehow always be the scene where they're at the arcade. And I instantly recognized the song as the one Heather sings. So I googled it, and, lo and behold, it was "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga. And then I listened to it.

Big mistake.

It was in my head all day, all night, every time I woke up to turn around, and all day Wednesday, too. I even infected Phil's mind with it. Haha!

I'd like to pretend it was never a Lady Gaga song. I'll just keep pretending it's some magical cover song that I never knew and grew to like thanks to Heather, while Lady Gaga remains unknown in my mind.

Yep.

P.S: My guilty pleasure, Shakira, has added a new song to my list: "Eyes Like Yours". I'm still afraid to buy her CD, but geez, she has great Bellydancing music...

P.P.S: I listened to "Wanderlust" by Abney Park about a million times, yesterday. Thanks, Captain Robert. Thanks. <3
