• Finished my Survey of American Literature class – it was a very engaging and fascinating course, and we just had the final exam on Melville, Emerson and Whitman, all very different yet similar writers and poets. The exam itself was brutal, but I fared better than I expected.

• Maddie’s wrist has been incapacitated for a while, so we went to a doctor and found that she has a temporary Carpal Tunnel syndrome, so she has to wear a brace for a few days until it gets better. It has been a few days, so we’re expecting good news soon.

• Going to start the Art Appreciation class this week, which is another requirement for my English major and I have a feeling that this class will be interesting as well. It’s just going to be another five weeks, just like the last one. I feel like I need a vacation, even though I’m on summer vacation :/

• I finally went swimming after such a long time and it was truly glorious! Especially in this recent hot weather, the water is quite refreshing. Going to the local workout place and swimming in the outdoor definitely was worth it after a day of class at the time. I’ve always been a water baby (I guess it goes with the Cancerian/Moonchild territory) and it has been wonderful to swim. To be able to submerge myself completely and rise to the surface, experience a feeling of complete solidarity. To tread in deep waters and be freed. To escape everyone and everything. If only.

• Worked my butt off going through clothes and straightening the house for the grandparents, and I was so exhausted afterwards – just sore all over DX

• Finished rewatching Shikabane Hime, and while it still was a fun ride and an emotional roller-coaster, it still felt like it had no conclusion, and where the main threat was still at large, albeit incapacitated. Still left me with a lot of questions, but I liked it just the same.

• Rewatching the Battle City arc in Yu-Gi-Oh! from the very beginning made me remember why I fell in love with the series in the first place.

• Welcome [livejournal.com profile] mac_arthur_park – I look forward to getting to know you. My intro post is here.

• Survey of American Literature is now reading on essays and poetry of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman – I have to say that they both have been quite fascinating concerning individualism and how nature becomes a part of that. Also, Moby Dick has to be the most layered and complex story that I have read in a while, as it really knows how to portray monomania, drive, and obsession and how pride can be one’s downfall, all for the pursuit of the answers to the unanswerable. And this class will conclude this week with an exam. I have to say that this class was quite thought-provoking and very informative.

• I had a dentist appointment just recently, where I thought I was going to have a wisdom tooth removed, but it turns out that I’ll need all of my four wisdom teeth out and fillings for some unfortunate cavities. I had to try not to retch my guts out when the two nurses were taking x-rays of my teeth, and just when I had enough bad luck with my teeth. :/

• Because of a massive storm, the power was out in my neighborhood for 14 hours. It was almost like living in the Dark Ages. And the funny thing is that, the storm only lasted for 5 minutes, but the damage was bad enough to cut off power in the vicinity. Thankfully, the power has now come back on!

• Finished rewatching Blood-C, and yes I remember it as truly a mindfuck of an anime, especially for a CLAMP anime. It is definitely a ‘Your Mileage May Vary’ type of anime, as some will hate it and some will like it. I just may be in the minority that likes it, in all craziness and mindfuckery with the convoluted bloodshed. I did find myself more entertained the second time around, and I really sympathized with Saya, whose innocence and insecurities are soon shattered by what happens in the last two episodes. Aaaaand I also despise Fumito. Personally I enjoyed Blood-C, but for those who are squeamish, consider yourselves warned. Next up, Shikabane Hime...

• Welcome [livejournal.com profile] obnoxygen, [livejournal.com profile] spaciireth, [livejournal.com profile] rubyelf, [livejournal.com profile] fictionary, [livejournal.com profile] eidna, [livejournal.com profile] skindyedindigo, [livejournal.com profile] takatsukishiori, [livejournal.com profile] thekaiserchief, and [livejournal.com profile] nowiamsix – I look forward to getting to know you all more. My intro post is here.

• The summer class I’m taking, Survey of American Literature, has been both enlightening and intense nowadays. Finished reading The Scarlet Letter and yup, there was some pretty heavy stuff there, about sin, guilt, redemption, and the human condition. It really got me thinking if some actions of others can do more harm than good even when one tries to help another person out, and that anyone can be capable of anything. And the class had its midterm, and boy was it intense, with questions mostly made up what we learned from the daily lectures and what we read from the books, but I think I managed all right.

• I’ve been experiencing some bad anxiety issues lately, which I thought I’d sealed up for the most part. With straightening up the apartment and summer classes, I almost cannot take anything to do with chores and errands, just feeling tense and shaky all over, and I would need to calm down for a while.

• Just a day ago, I singlehandedly cleaned and washed my aunt’s porch before she came back from a week-long vacation, because there was an accumulation of pollen and dust. I had my grandma and Maddie help me with the porch as well, but I took care of most of the work, so when I got home, I was exhausted X_x;

• Along with anime, I’ve been rewatching Adventures from the Book of Virtues and also Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat. I guess I know where exactly I got my fascination with mythology, folklore, classics, culture studies, and philosophy.

• This was a really fun and scary episode, in more ways than one. Starscream and Knock Out are really awesome together, even when screwing up. Sure they’ll sell each other out and they’ll bitch/snipe at each other but they at least seem to respect each other on some level, which is more than he gets from anyone else on the ship. Knock Out, you are such a sadistic yet vastly hilarious character. Seeing Zombie!Silasdown admittedly made me yelp when it first showed up in the episode X_x; Oh sweet Jesus, Airachnid's back! I just may be in the minority that can't help but like her, and that ending, that ending!!!

• Finished rewatching Princess Jellyfish and I love it just as much as the first time. The characters are all really well written, the main character Tsukimi is a nerd who doesn’t get ‘cured’ from her dorkiness at the end, and it really does get deep for a comedy series. Next up for anime marathons, a rewatch of Blood-C is in order.

• Survey of American Literature has been going pretty well. It’s a mind-numbing two hours a day, but so far I have gotten good grades on my essays, so I’m not complaining. Finished another essay, and reading The Scarlet Letter now. Expecting there to be pretty heavy stuff…

• I recently volunteered at the city’s local aquarium, but it’s not as easy as it looks. As part of a volunteer team, one must be hyper-vigilant of anything and everything, as I would have to keep a sharp eye on children and answers questions from the patrons of the aquarium. It is still a lovely aquarium and many types of sea creatures to look at too. And straightening up again - it never ends...

• Well, I found another series to marathon this summer (besides all the anime I plan to re-watch) – Adventures from the Book of Virtues. Does anyone remember that show? I know I do. I enjoyed the characters, and how the morals were addressed. I never felt as if I was being talked down to, but I felt like I was learning something valuable. In this world of grey morality, at times it’s easy to forget the lessons involved with responsibility, honesty, etc.

• I loved this episode! Knock Out was just so magnificent and deliciously evil, and it was just so great to see him again. And I love Fowler and June together - so wonderful *^^* It was interesting to see Arcee and Wheeljack interacting together, and it was quite fascinating, really. OH SHIT, that preview!!!! I'm wondering what's going to happen X_X;;;;

• Good God, that Game of Thrones episode!!! Even though it was inevitable, what happened in those last twenty minutes just threw my heart onto the ground and crushed it. *rolls into a ball of feels*

• Speaking of marathons, I recently started re-watching Princess Jellyfish, and again I am just amazed by how incredibly genuine this show is. Nothing about the other characters or their life situations is painted as odd or strange, or even as unnatural, and I still love it just for that.

→ I recently started the summer class and it’s going pretty well so far – I'm taking another summer class for the first 5 weeks and the class is called Survey of American Literature, and it centers around such literature like Moby Dick, The Scarlet Letter and so on. We’ll also look at other works that have set the course of the philosophical and socio-economic path and commentary of American literature in different time periods and today. It starts at 10:20 am, but at least it’s better than 8:50 am, and Maddie’s taking a Spanish class around the same time as my class, so it’s pretty good for the summer.

→ As much as I want to write fic, I’m afraid that the summer classes will make it a bit difficult and a bout of writer’s block has planted its roots near the usual threshold of ideas. Until I get some ideas or when inspiration works its magic, it will take a backseat for a while.

→ The grandparents have been very swell and it’s so good to be home, even with all the unpacking and tidying up from the said unpacking. At least that labour is done and I can concentrate on the summer classes.

Transformers Prime, how I have missed you so.... Well, the most recent episode was fantastic - well paced, some good character development and the season just keeps getting better and better. The wait for the next episode is just excruciating! And the new opening is just kickass :D

→ Going to start a rewatch of Fractale, followed by Princess Jellyfish, and Blood-C, and hopefully with a little rewatch of Yu-Gi-Oh! sooner rather than never.

It is officially finals week - how times flies...

Classes are over with (had a mini freak-out realizing that), getting used to that idea, and while I don’t have a final until this Saturday, I've been studying frantically. I already took care of the JPN II final and turned my Quantitative Reasoning Final Project, but I have two finals to complete and a Creative Writing portfolio to finish.

Because of this, I may have to be off LiveJournal and other sites for a few days, but I will still comment on my flist's entries, and I will make sure to have a real entry soon.

Until then, wish me luck!

TW for anxiety.... )

→ On the bright side, Maddie got accepted in Alpha Psi Omega, the theatre honor society on our campus and just performed in a 10 minute play just this past weekend. She was really great and she acted in three out of the 5 plays in the performance, with lines and everything. She even got to play a fairy with wings *^^* I can’t help but be proud. :D

→ Watched the newest episode of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and I really liked it.

While it wasn't as earth-shattering as last week’s, I still enjoyed it. The animation really steals the show because bow that the Autobots are on the move, the animators are using different backgrounds and they are just gorgeous. My favorites include the cornfield as well as the sunset that engulfs Arcee and Jack, the flower garden where Miko and Bulkhead were residing, and some of the forestry surrounding it. On another note, oh Optimus, just hang in there, honey! And poor Ratchet! ;_;

→ Got accepted into a specialty dorm that features on international studies and multicultural activities, but I’m still in the dark about the results of re-applying to the current dorm I've been residing in this past year.

→ At least in my JPN II class, I can make a PowerPoint presentation about CLAMP, and the requirement is about information on the Japanese culture, sooo… :D

→ Happy belated Easter~!!!

Hope everything is fine with you all.
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Finals week is just ahead, and the classes have us getting homework as well as final projects! To think we’re not overworked enough as it is, but I just hope that everyone else, including me, will make it through without passing out. As I said before, the sooner finals are over with, the better.

→ In Elementary Japanese, we’re supposed to perform a skit using what we've learned so far in the class for this week, and it was on the last minute too, just getting word of it last week. So there is another valid reason to feel a bit under pressure this upcoming week.

→ Registered for the fall semester successfully, and I’m sure that they’ll be good classes, as long as I can fulfill my requirements for my English major and Psychology minor. Here’s the schedule:

My Fall 2013 schedule.... )

→ Maddie’s recital was just last week and she did just beautifully, singing the song “The Sky above the Roof”, and it was just enough to get me a bit teary-eyed. Grandma and Grandpa came to the recital too and thought she did a wonderful job too. Later that night, there was another bout of the Midnight Showings, the artsy and dancing showcase that Maddie was also a part of, doing a funny skit on how to prepare for finals, with hilarious results. Everyone really liked it, and she was just beaming when everyone clapped. Earlier that day, with finals approaching along with the recital and the midnight showings, we both couldn't help but wish the day to be over and done with, but as the day went by, we did feel a lot better in the end.

→ Turns out that the get-together with some friends from our first college dorm was postponed because of a family emergency, so when I heard about that, I felt like I dodged a bullet on that one. But I did feel a tad disappointed, that I did want to take a break from studying and have a good time. However, I did talk to a lot people during this week, so I guess that counts for something.

→ After doing homework and preparing for finals, I got to write a couple of drabbles when inspiration appeared unexpectedly and it felt really swell to have my writing muse working again. However, if I’m going to pass these finals, any more of those fic ideas will have to take a backseat for now.

→ Yup, still want to watch Transformers: Prime, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Soul Eater rather than doing homework and preparing for exams, but they’ll be for after finals.
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ I was actually social this past week at college, and even made a few people laugh with some silly jokes and quips, to say the least. Now everyone is buckling down for finals and their final projects, and the sooner finals week is over, the better. I can’t wait until I can sleep again because I do not know how much more of this I can take.

→ Maddie has found out that she’s an honor student and is going to be honored with others at an upcoming honors convocation at our school – I’m so proud of her *^^*

→ Registration for next semester is this week, and I have already met with my advisors for the requirements for both my major on English and my minor in Psychology, along with what I need to take for graduation, so that’s good to know. I’ll have to take Art History class in summer school to fulfill the Aesthetics requirement and I’m sure that will be interesting. Maddie and I just might graduate mid-semester in 2015 or somewhere along those lines and we might even go abroad next spring semester to London.

→ I want to write fic right now, but schoolwork and deadlines have to be met first before anything else. Drat. I can at least write a poem or a 100 word drabble for fandom or original stuff on the side. Still so many ideas in my mind!

→ I can’t help but think I’m a bit OCD on certain things in my life, such as writing two fics instead of just one so it would be an even number or making my bed after my first class or organizing my homework in a certain way. Maybe I’m just very particular about stuff, and this doesn’t restrict my life in any way, so I may just be worried over nothing.

→ Later on this week, there’s a get-together with some friends from our first college dorm, and Maddie and I have been invited to go. I’m both excited and sort of dreading to go. I’m excited because I haven’t seen those great girls in a while, yet I’m very positive social anxiety will get the better of me. I can’t eat or drink in front of people and I don’t really talk a lot in class in the fear of saying something stupid. I've gotten a lot better at talking to people and hanging out, but still…

→ Still would rather watch Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sailor Moon, and Soul Eater than doing homework and preparing for exams, but those can be rewards for after the finals.
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Yesterday was my dad’s birthday, and I had the chance to celebrate it in his honor with my grandparents and Maddie with going out to dinner. It’s been 5 years, 5 years since he passed away and I miss him terribly. I still miss him and think about him. I just wish I could have been there to help you or stop you. My dad was such a sweet and hearty person, sure he was a lovable oaf at times, but he was a great father and I have his Sicilian blood running through my veins. In some ways I feel that he is still here with me. Rest in peace, Dad - I love you and always will.

→ Studying is intense, there are a few deadlines that I've got to get out of the way. Ugh, and I’m absolutely dreading the final exams in May. I can’t believe that I’m almost finished this year at university. My time here has completely flown by!

→ I met with advisers this past week for the next semester and I have a lot of credits to go through to fulfill the requirements for the English major and Psychology minor credentials. Grandma still suggests that I take Art as a minor instead, but I feel that psychology is more of my niche, as I can find out what makes people tick. I’m not so good with drawing or painting at all, to say the least, but I’ve always been appreciative of art and its history – heck, I appreciate animation for those reasons too. Maybe, we’ll see in the summer.

→ The college theatre department had a production of 9 to 5 the Musical just this weakened and it was just really adorable and really funny – I haven’t seen the movie version of it yet, but with my friends in the musical, it was really great seeing them act their best and cheer them on ♥

→ I really loved this episode - I'm not going to lie, Optimus looks pretty badass now. I really thought he was going to be a goner and I got a bit teary-eyed when he saw Alpha Trion, but I was thankfully proven wrong. I'm glad that the Autobots are back together once more, but I do know that the Cons aren't down for the count yet and that goes for Predaking too. But…..a four week hiatus?! I can't wait that long :/

→ I still want to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! and Soul Eater rather than doing homework and preparing for exams, but what can you do?
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Thank you all so much for your encouraging words and overall awesome comments – I feel less anxious and a lot more relaxed now, taking everything in stride from this moment on. What I thought was going to turn my world upside down turned out to be nothing at all and those enrollment/housing deposits was taken care of quite easily. Phew! I am such a good place right now.

→ As always, I always wish the weekends could last forever. I got my period - yep. That time of the month. And ugh it was just awful, as it was after class when I got it and I just felt miserable, so miserable that the next day I had to go home for the weekend once again, while Maddie had choir things to take care of, and we texted each other on and off through the entire weekend XD I even got to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: The Pyramid of Light, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters – ah nostalgia. Both were corny as hell and I stayed up till’ 3 in the morning to finish them on two separate nights, but worth it.

→ I just got accepted back into the current dorm I've been residing in this past year, but I’m in conflict – the specialty dorm is nice, but I love the outdoor specialty dorm I’m in right now. And there are just 3 more weeks until finals and all that craziness, along with meetings with deans and advisers to go through in those next weeks.

→ Still loving Soul Eater and just…Maka and Soul are just the best. I love them so much and their dynamic is just great and fascinating to watch. I can’t wait to see what happens next, though.

→ Watched the most recent episode of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and good lord I loved it.

Oh god... - the feels from that preview…..Optimus - my baby! ;_;

Goodness, I just want the Autobots to be all right and I mean ALL of them! But I also want the Decepticons to be powerful and awesome as well. The inner turmoil...

On another note, Predaking is just seriously awesome and terrifying all at once!

Ultra Magnus is definitely close to his G1 counterpart, but I wish he wasn't so much of a drill sergeant as he was in this episode. Oh, and when June and Jack reunited, I was so happy, and the part of me that ships Bulk/Arcee flailed a bit :D

Hope everything is fine with you all.
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day!!

→ Spring Break is finally here and I can finally kick back and relax. Time to rewatch Yu-Gi-Oh!, Inuyasha, and Evangelion 2.22 :D  Already watched Evangelion 1.11 just two days ago *^^*
→ I’ll be seeing a dentist to have my chipped teeth filled soon. I just hope it won’t be painful :/
→ It’s great to be able to spend time with our grandparents again after a while, which had felt like a month.  Even if it means having to take care of going to the old house sometime later this week – oy.
→ I started watching Phineas and Ferb and I really enjoy it. This. Show. Is. Hilarious. Really funny XD
→ My laptop’s been fixed and it’s back to normal – turns out to it was a Windows 8 problem and a lot with the updates that the system mandates. I can never understand computers sometimes…
→ I know Singapore already aired the first three episodes of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters in a premiere, but I haven’t seen them yet, and I still have to wait until this Friday to watch the show. Avoiding spoilers like plague right now. Tumblr, I’m looking at you <.< >.>
→ This coming weekend, Maddie will be going on a choir trip to Raleigh, NC with her Concert Choir from Friday afternoon to Sunday night. I will probably spend that time with the grandparents, so that will be good. I can’t help but worry about Maddie though – I’m sure she’ll be fine, and she can take care of herself. Hell, she’s taking Karate now, so if anyone messes with her, she’ll kick their butts from there to the middle of next week. And it’s only for the weekend. Not like it hasn't happened before. Still…I know I’ll miss her terribly. She’s doing all of these great things. And I am too, I know that. Can’t help but be proud. Hopefully she’ll text and call to say goodnight and good morning :D
Hopefully everything is all right with you all :)
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ School is slowly winding down with spring break on the way, but not without a stupid test in QR, taking care of an essay in 18th Century British Novel, poems for Creative Writing, and verbs and letters for JPN II.

Finally went to the orthodontist and she told me that I would have to see a dentist to have my chipped teeth filled and I would see him at the end of the week. Drat DX

→ Maddie and I were able to go home for the weekend, for the dentist appointment, and it was just wonderful to spend time with our grandparents again after so long, which had felt like a month. They have done so much for us and I feel that I have to do something for them in return, even taking care of errands and doing chores for them around the house. I was able to get a haircut too and get some much needed supplies for this week before Spring Break arrives.

→ Maddie and I watched some shows on TV after a long time without television such as The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, Samurai Jack, and even Foster’s Home For imaginary Friends on Boomerang – nostalgia *^^*. We even got to watch Bleach and Soul Eater on Toonami – I love Soul Eater already and I’m definitely going to look more into it. The art style is pretty unique and I’m wondering what’s going to happen next – and suddenly feeling the urge to re-watch Inuyasha again.

→ My laptop’s memory and RAM thingamajig is busted, as it kept giving me the BSOD and restarting like 4 times when I tried to use it, so it’s getting repaired and luckily the computers on campus and Maddie’s laptop are still available. Just a minor inconvenience, that’s all.

→ I had to help my aunt and my grandparents out with my cousin Alethea’s 16th birthday and it turned out to be a lot of fun, as the get-together and festivities were very classy and posh. That was because we had rented out a Colonial Revival Bed & Breakfast inn that was reminiscent of colonial housing and luxurious common areas, like something out of Downton Abbey. Unfortunately, that was the time when my time of the month reared its ugly head and I had to leave the party early.

→ Speaking of the time of the month, this weekend pretty much consisted of sitting around and making it through that time of the month. I hate my period like the fiery fires of hellfire, as my cramps felt like one of the Nine Circles of Hell, but I also like that feeling of letting myself relax and take it easy for once with all the jumping and running from place to place all the time, and I SWEAR I lose weight during this time. I’m just glad I didn't get it during class or anything like that X_X;

→ Still anxious for Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and Legend of Korra, and for free time to rewatch Yu-Gi-Oh! and the first two Rebuild of Evangelion movies. Yup – spring break it is.

Hopefully everything is all right with you all :)
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ School still has been the same, QR being at a standstill at best, Creative Writing working with persona poems this time (I wrote a poem about Red Riding Hood) JPN II very interesting with verbs and polite form, and 18th Century British Novel had me finishing an essay on Moll Flanders and its social commentary.

→ The chipped tooth hasn't bothered me much, but the dentist appointment is this week, so that’s something.

TFP - spoilers, S3 trailers )

Who Needs Feminism...trigger warning for assault, molestation, and abuse )
→ There has been a lot going on with HOP club and the Psychology Club lately, with return applications taken care if for the former and working on baking more Oreo Truffles and meeting times getting confused for the latter, all for a club fair later this week. Going to be busy this week, I suppose.

→ Still wondering when Legend of Korra will arrive, and hopefully there will be some free time to rewatch Yu-Gi-Oh! and the first two Rebuild of Evangelion movies will arrive shortly. Spring Break, perhaps? :)

Hopefully everything has been going well with you all :)
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ School has been the same, more or less, with some assignments due this week, like a 4-6 paper on Moll Flanders in 18th Century British Novel, and QR still is going slowly per the norm. Creative Writing is still interesting with object/metaphor poems and JPN II is a bit challenging with verbs in polite form, but enjoyable nonetheless. Just recently, after classes, I’m usually so exhausted and cannot wait to get out of classes just to go back to sleep.

→ I got a chipped tooth – fuck! That dentist appointment can’t begrudgingly arrive fast enough :/

Trigger warning - Fear 2 Freedom )

→ This past weekend, there was a play/senior thesis, in which Maddie was the stage manager of, and it was called There Are Other Worlds (They Have Not Told You Of) and it was a really wonderful play, as it was a contemplative and psychedelic centered on identity with Afro-futurism, Afrocentricity, and finding the Door of the Cosmos, mixed with great music too. Then, I had to be socially active because Maddie and I were invited to the cast party too, and it was just tons and tons of fun! Everyone was just hanging out and played card games and then danced to music where I got to dance as well, even learn the Cat Daddy dance XD. Then Maddie and I were congratulated for being a part of the craziness that was the production process of the play and I couldn’t help but feel really loved – we were even given roses and a bottle of apple cider as gifts *^^*. I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it; friends make life a lot more fun. We made it home safe and sober and it was worth going to :)

→ Also thinking of rewatching Yu-Gi-Oh! and the first two Rebuild of Evangelion movies when I have some free time.

→ Once again, writing fic has kept me sane through this week and three of which were really dark and somewhat from the darkest and creepiest corners of my mind, while one was most lighthearted and fluffy because there needs to be more of that in this world. This morning I shot up out of bed thirsting for English breakfast tea, food, and sunlight, so I made myself some tea and I typed and typed vigorously writing about life, darkness of the mind and body, and the lust for power, because let’s face it, love, though necessary, can be overrated at times. So I wrote and wrote and wrote, and typed and typed, and my caffeinated heart raced with excitement that pumped down to my feet so much so, I found myself almost jogging back to the library to do homework XD

Hopefully everything has been all right with you all :D
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Classes are still going well, with a little hiccup in the middle since because of a back ache that wouldn't go away until after I fell asleep for the hundredth time, I couldn't go to two morning classes, but I remedied that with taking care of the homework assigned in advance. QR still is going slowly but surely, Creative Writing is getting rather interesting, with working on object/metaphor poems, JPN II is getting a bit challenging with kanji, but still fascinating, and 18th Century British Novel is pretty much enjoyable as all get-out. :)

→ Forgot to mention this a couple of weeks ago, but before going back to campus, Maddie and I made dinner with our aunt Wendy, the main course being Beer-Boiled Henan Chicken Stew, and it was really delicious, and also very spicy X_X; Overall, it was pretty good and it was great to spend time with our aunt, who really means a lot to us.

→ For Valentine’s Day, being a part of the Psychology Club, Juanica, Maddie, and I made red velvet cupcakes, Funfetti cupcakes with strawberry icing and Oreo Truffles, just like what we did last year, and they turned out really well. We held the bake sale near the cafeteria for the most of this week, and overall it went well. One thing that did happen was I had a panic attack when I didn't know whether or not the cupcakes were gluten-free, but everything turned out fine in the end. Thankfully, there were no allergic reactions or anything else from the customers, two really good friends and classmates of mine, so I once again had given myself an anxiety attack for no apparent reason. Story of my life…

→ Period’s gone – yay!

→ Thank you all so so much for the wonderful and encouraging words from the Valentine’s Day meme – it really means a lot coming from my f-list *^^*

→ Thinking of rewatching Princess Jellyfish and Fractale, and then finally re-watch Blood-C once I get my paycheck along with the final part of Utena when I have free time.

Fandom in general rant.... )
ragnarok_08: (Default)
→ Spring Semester has just started, and the classes are going well so far – QR is just as static and boring as ever, but I need to pass it in order to graduate, Intermediate Creative Writing is starting to be a fun class, with poetry to start with, Intermediate Japanese is just as fascinating as ever, and 18th Century British Novel is turning to be a really fun one.

→ There’s going to be a lot of work to be done for the semester, so updating here on Livejournal and writing fic will take a backseat for a while, but I will definitely let you all know when I do have the free time. I’ll still comment on entries, but I’ll update once a week from now on.

→For some reason, I’ve found myself to be more nervous and a little more paranoid on the Internet lately, not going on Tumblr as much. Maybe it’s because of CISPA that I heard has been reemerging again– fuck it DX

→ For Maddie’s Script Analysis class, we saw a local play called The Matador, one of those absurdist plays that was actually pretty good for only 55 minutes and it was entertaining to say the least.

→ Finally finished Samurai 7 and I really loved it - this anime kept me wanting more, right from episode one, which some shows don't achieve until a few episodes in. Whenever I finished an episode, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for more, and there was nothing compelling me to stop. The characters were extremely well developed for the scope of this series, and I really liked them and wanted to see them turn out okay, and I was extremely sad when a few characters in particular died, but I was proud of the way they went out, in battle and with honor. So to top this off, if you haven't seen this series, I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it.

→ I just got my period, again DX

→ Spring Semester is just around the corner and I ordered the textbooks I need just last night, thank goodness. This will take some getting used to, but an adjustment like that won’t be a big deal.

→ I just want to say thank you all so much for your kind words on my last entry about my mom's memorial service - it means a lot to me to have such a great f-list like you :)

→ I finished the rewatching of Vision of Escaflowne and I really loved it; it was even better the second time. What I really liked about it was that no one is a straightforward good guy or bad guy, as there was a moral ambiguity in their actions as they were only doing for the benefit of their respective countries and for a better future. I really enjoyed rewatching it after such a long time, and I’m glad I saw it again.

→The J-Term class is all done, and I have to say that I liked the class, despite the workload and reading stories that didn't have the most optimistic endings, but I used some opportunities to hone my writing skills and see where I can improve.

→ This next week is going to be hectic, but I think it will be good to have a routine again, and with Psychology Club and HOP Hall/Wilderness Adventure Club meetings as well.

→ Watched the first OVA of Code Geass: Akito the Exiled and I really like where it’s going so far. It really captured the (admittedly sometimes over dramatic) Geass style of events and characterization. Overall, a great first installment and I can't wait for the next part.

→ Hello  [livejournal.com profile] ikel89,[livejournal.com profile] cordialcount, [livejournal.com profile] goreplz, [livejournal.com profile] flyingharmony, [livejournal.com profile] sunnytyler001, [livejournal.com profile] vix_spes, [livejournal.com profile] patchcat, and [livejournal.com profile] atoms_vibrating – I look forward to getting to you all more :)

→ Because of the remembrance service for Mom, Maddie and I had to get home for our grandparents and our aunt – this sort of interfered with the rewatching of Vision of Escaflowne a bit, but that’s manageable. The service went well and our aunt and cousin Alethea showed up as well as our grandparents, and the chaplain Jenny was really supportive of us on remembering our mom, the good memories we had with her, and what we learned from her. It’ll be her birthday tomorrow and maybe lighting a candle in her honor and meditation will help to remember her by.

→ J-Term class has been all right so far, just getting my essays in gear and edited for the final portfolio. Just one more week and then it’ll be spring semester. Oh joy…now I just have to try and get my brain back into working order after subjecting it to more writing for the final portfolio.

→ I had to go outside and do things, but that involved going outside and doing things. Like going to the bank for financial issues, finding the location of the SSS branch near our house and settling a lot of old nonsense once and for all. Now I’m back on campus, and the worst thing about the cold, grey skies, and the dissipating snow is that it makes everything look so bleak.

TMI.... )

→ Still have to get textbooks for the spring semester…
