My Friend Leonard | James Frey (2005)

I think this review will make a lot of more sense (or will at least be better contextually situated) if you have first read my review of Frey's A Million Little Pieces. As a matter of fact, the book itself will likely make a lot more sense if you've first read Frey's debut memoir. I think they were meant to be read in order, together. Well, I've only let four years transpire between reading the first and second....

In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts | Gabor Maté (2009)

I got this book through LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Don't know how early my review really is, given that it's taken me so long to read the book and get around to writing the review. Not that the book wasn't interesting.... Just, make sure you've got a lot of spare time.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People | Stephen Covey (1989)

I started a new job at the beginning of the month, which has really wreaked havoc on my reading schedule. But then I discovered that one of my job perks is that I have access to hundreds of books through the company Intranet, and I can read them while I'm at work! Of course, the only texts available are those that relate in some way to business or management. Since this is a title that I've been interested in for a while, I thought I'd give it a whirl to see how I liked it.

New Mother's Guide to Breastfeeding | American Academy of Pediatrics (2002)

This was a free book that a nurse handed to me as I was leaving the hospital last week. While I'm glad I read it, I found the fifteen minutes I spent with the breastfeeding support group infinitely more helpful than the hours I've spent with this book. One good thing to come of all that reading, though: the book makes La Leche League seem tame by comparison, and I'm no longer so daunted by them.

The Last Lecture | Randy Pausch (2008)

Well, if I had read more quickly, I might have had one more book done last year. As it stands, just a few minutes into 2009 I've finished my first book for the year. Fitting, perhaps, that I ended last year reading The LAST Lecture, and began this one sobbing over new beginnings at the book's end.
