Tonight is the series finale of Friday Night Lights. It's kind of strange, because unlike so many beloved shows, it isn't over because it's lost all of its fans or its gone so down hill that it's unrecognizable or even so much that the core cast has all left, because really none of that is true.
It's over because the story has been told. Well, mostly...but it feels okay for it to be done.
I've had shows that I've loved and gotten involved with fandom and made great friends and this one was no different.
I'm so glad this brought us together! And hopefully it isn't the end. I still want to read more great fic by kadymae and I want to write a LOT more with shelbecat and to be totally honest, 1407graymalkin, I'm still waiting for the completion of Cheerbaby!
Title: Rise Up Author: rachel_wilder Rating: T Summary: Miles might separate them, but when the chips are down, Tim and Jason know who they can count on--each other. Set post Season 4 of Friday Night Lights - not based on spoilers. Author's Note: Many thanks to devilc for beta and advice.
Title: A Place to Be Author: rachel_wilder Rating: T Summary: Mothers, Sons, the things that complicate our lives...Tim tries to find his place in the world. Pre-Series through Season 4 of Friday Night Lights. Author's Note: Many thanks to devilc for beta and advice.
The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. (Some other equivalent gift, like icons or mini-fanmixes or quickie meta, would make sense for people who don't write fic themselves.)
1. Miss Amy Abbott for bossymarmalade 2. Frank and Tim for violetisblue 3. Jason and Tim fishing for devilc 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
Offered fandoms: FNL, X-Files, Homicide, Party of Five, Dark Angel, One Tree Hill, Everwood, ER
Okay, I have to admit that I love these things...so please, play along!
Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
Some of the more recent fics aren't on my site, so just check the fan fiction tag here.
