There was a thing on Fresh Air with Terry Gross about the death of Joseph Hansen, author of the Dave Brandstetter mystery novels. I don't know much about these novels other than that they seemed to be fairly popular in the German translations when I was in Germany. I guess they were among the first to have a gay protagonist.

Has anyone read any of these novels? How are they? Would you recommend them?

Mike Jungbauer is a Minnesota State Congressman. He has a plane at the airport I work at and comes into my office to chat with the pilots that hang around there. Well tonight, He decided that he needs to find a pilot to bring him to a nowhere town in northern minnesota because he has a meeting on friday for the "Christian Republicans for Traditional Marriage." Oh did I mention hes a christian evangelical pastor? Oh I guess I didnt.

Anyway he comes in today all high and mighty talking about the evils of gays and gay marriage. I wanted to shout out from the back of the desk...GUESS WHAT?! IM GAY!!!!

But I didnt. I instead fumed and fumed and fumed and took out all my anger by throwing things at the line guys. (the people who go give gas to the planes.)

Has anyone else noticed that Old Navy uses the Brewer twins in commercials? The Brewer twins achieved minor-league Internet fame several years ago, when photos of the identical brothers in nude, homoerotic poses made the rounds of ftp and web sites.

How weird is it that now they're endorsing a clothing brand that aims squarely at Middle America?

April 21st is the Day of Silence, one of the largest and most bizarre forms of political demonstration in the gay community, and a part of me wants to follow along, shut up for a day, and try to convince other people to take the same 24-hour vow of silence in the name of marginalized gays across the country. On the other hand, I'm also wondering if it's really effective; is it better to be silent or to scream from the rafters? Isn't silence exactly what the right wants from us?

But that itself expresses my point; silence=death. ACT-UP said it in the 1980's, and it's still true now. But, as any fan of latin american cinema will tell you, silence=glory. So I'm ambivalous as all hell right now.

Massachusetts Supreme Court Orders All Citizens to Gay Marry

BOSTON—Justices of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled 5-2 Monday in favor of full, equal, and mandatory gay marriages for all citizens. The order nullifies all pre-existing heterosexual marriages and lays the groundwork for the 2.4 million compulsory same-sex marriages that will take place in the state by May 15.
