Gay Pride/Looking for friends

Hi there,

My name is Ivan, I'm 30 and I'll be in Downtown Portland Tonight. I heard that Gay pride was going on? Do you guys have any recommendations of what's good to do there? Any cool places/events I should check out? I'll be happy for any advice!

I really love the city of Portland and hope to move down there one day. I'm also looking for more LJ friends, so if any of you're interested, feel free to add me and I'll add you back!

LbBQ Research: Be Heard Be Part of Research!

Hi

My name is Rischa and I'm a lesbian doing research in our community. This study is on marijuana use and gender in women (trans-inclusive) over the age of 18 who identify as lesbian bisexual or queer (LBQ). Getting involved in research is important to me because providers use studies like this one to make decisions about our health care.  Moreover, by focusing my research on LGBTQ communities I hope to be able to create an environment where people can receive appropriate physical and mental healthcare services.

You can be part of research by completing an, anonymous 25-minute survey by going to www.lbqresearch.wordpress.com.

You can also  to help make more women aware of this study by talking to your friends, blogging, facebooking, etc. about it.

Cheers and With Pride

Donating!

Hey y'all...

I have a bunch of clothes/shoes that I'm cleaning out of my storage unit, and I'm looking for a good queer-friendly place to donate them. Barring that, a shelter or something that's local and needs some help. Does anyone know of anything like that? If I have to put them all out in a freebox, I will, but there's a lot and I'd prefer to know it's all going to a good cause.

Many thanks!

Be Heard, Be Part of Research

Hi,

My name is Rischa I'm a lesbian, doing research with our community.

I am passionate about research because professionals use studies like this one to make decisions about our health care.

For this study, we are looking for women (trans-community included)  18 years of age or older, who self-identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, or questioning (LBQ).  The purpose of this study is to learn about gender presentation and substance use in LBQ women.

Make sure your experiences are heard, be a part of LBQ research!

You can complete a brief, anonymous 25-minute survey by going to www.lbqresearch.wordpress.com

This study had been approved by the St. John’s University IRB.  Thank you for your time.

Make sure your experiences are heard, be a part of LBQ research! Thank you for getting involved, and be sure to tell your friends to participate as well.

general practitioners?

So my partner is looking for a new doctor: a general practitioner who is sensitive to genderqueer issues. Doesn't have to mean that they see tons and tons of genderqueer people, but someone who's savvy enough to know terms like "binding," and not need a huge gender primer.

Suggestions?

Meetup?

Hi everyone!
I'm from Philadelphia, I've never been to the West Coast, and I randomly decided to go to Portland the last week of June! I was wondering if anyone was friendly and wanted to hang out one day. I know, kind of odd, but hey, I'm only going once and I promise I'm friendly and it could be fun to meet some people and have penpals 3000 miles away after I come home =). I'm doing the following things, if anyone has any other suggestions, let me know! My name's Laila, I'm almost 24, and a lesbian. I'm not really into the club scene (at least not the Philly one--it's a hot mess of drunken slutty butchier girls who are full of drama--I never seem to have fun at the gay bars/clubs here) but I'm open to suggestions! Here's what I have on my list to do so far:

Stumptown coffee

Rose Gardens/surrounding trails

McMenamins Crystal Ballroom

Doug Fir lounge

Deshutes Brewery

Burgerville

Embers

Saturday market and farmers markets

Powell's Books

Japanese Gardens

Tasty and Sons

This is via a friend who used to live in Washington State and ventured down to Portland a few times, and also from a response from booksofadam.com when I asked him what do do there. Let me know if any of those are bad suggestions ;)

Hope to hear from people! I'm going the 27th of June and leaving super early on the 1st of July, so I'm only there for a few days. I'm staying in the Hawthorne district in a hostel and plan to rent a bike and utilize the public transport a lot ;)

Hey Queers - I know some of you know how to cook!

Interested in sharing some of your deliciousness with the customers of the Interstate Farmers Market this season? We need guest chefs for cooking demos for each Wednesday and Saturday market for the season. We especially need people over the next 2 months.

Here's the craigslist ad for more info: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/vol/2401184627.html

You can contact me, the volunteer coordinator for the IFM, at IFM.Volunteer@gmail.com or Lisa, the market manager, at contact@interstatefarmersmarket.com if you're interested in volunteering or learning more.

Thanks everyone!

My new FTM YOUTUBE Channel!

hello!

im ryan, and im ftm! yah

i just wanted to post about my new youtube channel, where im trying to set up a place for people to talk about ftm everyday issues. Ive set up a few videos already and am open to ideas to make new videos. one of the more important reasons for doing this was because i felt that the lgbt community has a way of excluding queer people of color, and being hispanic myself, i identify with this feeling. i havent seen much out there based on these issues and thought maybe this could be a place for some of that to be spoken about.

well heres the channel check it out!
