If you're an artist who'd like to create an image to advertise Queer Big Bang's round 3, please let me know!
The more artists and images, the merrier. All images must be safe for general audiences.
Large banners should advertise the following:
Queer Big Bang - Round 3
Sign-ups open through July 31, 2014
http://queer-bigbang.dreamwidth.org/
http://queer-bigbang.livejournal.com/
Smaller banners can have just the name of the comm and any sort of mention that the round is open.
If you want to put the date in a different format (31 July, etc.) have at it.
The images will be posted to this page for our wonderful members to scatter across the 'net as they see fit.

Welcome to the Queer Big Bang Challenge!
The challenge is for writers to at write least 10,000 words for a novella in whatever fandom, crossover, or original fiction setting you like. Your work has to deal with the experience of being non-heterosexual and/or non-cisgender.
This is a multimedia challenge. We allow a large variety of media, even in the "author" (write 10,000+ words) section of the challenge. If you have a favorite style of work that takes at least as much time and effort as writing a 10,000+ word fic, we're open to it.
After the authors have worked their magic, the artists will then create fanworks of various kinds to go with each story.

Round 3 sign-ups begin tomorrow, Feb. 8th!
We've had one suggestion that we add another kind of fanwork. I'm guessing the suggestion is to add podfic to the art/vid/mix artist options but not exactly sure. Anyway, the idea sounds great to me.
I have a question I want to put out to everyone here. (I'd like to think I've learned my lesson about making big changes and asking for opinions after the fact!)
The thing that would prevent me from participating in this round is the schedule. I've already promised people a sequel, and I don't want them to wait 'til September to get it. I'd rather just not put it in the challenge. Or...
Would it be okay if we permitted early submissions? If we kept all the deadlines as-is, and allowed people to post early? If an author submitted early, that wouldn't change the standard deadline for their artist, but it would mean that the fic might be posted without its art until the art is done.
ETA: I'll be modding no matter what. I'm really excited to get a chance to run this challenge. The "prevent me from participating" part only refers to whether or not I submit my sequel to the challenge.
Here's the schedule from Round 2, which I'm guessing works well for everyone:
February 1 - Artist/Author Signups open
May 1-15 - Mandatory Half-way Checkpoint
July 31 - Author Sign-ups Close
August 1 - Rough Drafts Due
August 3 - Art Claims open
August 10 - Second Round of Art Claims
September 1 - Final Fic/Art Rough Drafts Due
September 15-30 - Posting Dates

I'm putting this in a separate post so people don't have to sift through the comments to see the outcome...
First, lots and lots of thanks go to the person who brought the topic up with me via PM. It's definitely not easy to say, "Hey, I disagree," especially to someone who's got the admin privileges. It's quite clear from the discussion that resulted that a lot of people would have been unhappy with things if this person hadn't spoken up. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Second, what this community's about should be what the people in this community think it should be about. What I've seen in the comments is a very clear vote that this community is about being non-heterosexual and/or non-cisgendered. It might be an interesting topic to consider other relationships and identities that society doesn't accept, but it's beyond the premise of this community. Those sorts of things can be the exception, not the rule.
So, I've managed to drag us all around a huge discussion just to end up where we started. Sorry about that! Thanks for bearing with me, and thanks for all the really thoughtful responses!
(Too much reality... need fiction!)

Someone sent me a really thoughtful message saying they're uncomfortable with the expanded list of ways to be queer, and this person made a lot of good points. I want to bring the discussion to the comm because this really isn't a decision I want to make arbitrarily for everyone.

I'm really excited that we've already had three comments by people who are interested in this round! (Two on Dreamwidth and one on LiveJournal.)
Round 3's signups will begin this weekend, on February 8th. The delay is to give me time to tweak the schedule and the rules, according to the suggestions that come in.

Hi, I'm your new mod,
boundsofdecency. Big thanks to
chibifukurou for passing the comm along!
I've never run a comm like this, so I want to start by asking for suggestions...
Before I announce a new round, I want to make sure the calendar isn't getting in the way of people who would like to participate. And if you have other suggestions about how the challenge is designed and so on, let me know. You can comment here or pm me at
boundsofdecency.
Also, if you wrote an entry for a previous round and didn't get artwork etc., comment/pm me and I'll get it arranged.
