the notion that it is trauma that licenses #problematic content sets such a shitty and dangerous precedent that still puts creators in a position where they need to justify themselves. it burdens ppl into disclosing deeply personal details and trauma to defend/excuse/validate their output that in no universe are others entitled to, so i think ppl really need to let that go as the go-to defense for the inclusion of dark and taboo subject matter in fiction anyway, as much as they think it is a palatable and convincing argument

these things shouldnt be off-limits for anybody and we need to construct our arguments around that

Tim Hortons is doing a Harry Potter collab and like. Whatever. I quit going there years ago because the food and drinks are bad. But it's annoying me off how people keeping boiling down folks boycotting Tim's to "People are mad about things JRK said on Twitter" and "People are mad because they don't like Harry Potter". I heard the former stated as the reason on the radio the other day. Jesus Christ, no. People are mad because any money JKR gets from this promotion will be funneled straight into lobbying against transgender rights and access to healthcare in the UK. Very tangible real world harm. It isn't about the ideological purity of the stupid wizard donuts.

Thought this was interesting 😅 one book on the history of slavery and race in the United States, and the other calling it a "plan to divide America". Because you know. Huge book of physical evidence vs some bigot's emotional argument it's bad for white kids. Much equivalent. I decided not to throw it in the trash.

To be clear, the second book was slid in next to it. I put them like this to show y'all. Then I slid it right back in and covered it with another book. Fuck Mary Grabar.

Imagine if someone said they identified as a faggot but were explicitly Not Gay, they just Acted Gay and Dressed Gay, and whenever someone insinuated they were gay they'd say "I'm straight actually, I'm a straight faggot, not like a weird gay faggot." And they got so popular whenever someone came out as gay everyone would go "Couldn't you just be a straight faggot instead? You don't NEED to be GAY to be a valid faggot." And everyone was just like "I love my faggot friends!" And they have No gay friends and suddenly what was obviously gay culture everyone on the internet calls "Faggot Culture" and famous gay characters start being shipped with women as "Straight Faggot Representation" and gay people have to call themselves faggots because people are now more afraid of the word gay than they are faggot.

That's what femboy is.

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.
