the notion that it is trauma that licenses #problematic content sets such a shitty and dangerous precedent that still puts creators in a position where they need to justify themselves. it burdens ppl into disclosing deeply personal details and trauma to defend/excuse/validate their output that in no universe are others entitled to, so i think ppl really need to let that go as the go-to defense for the inclusion of dark and taboo subject matter in fiction anyway, as much as they think it is a palatable and convincing argument

But it's annoying me off how people keeping boiling down folks boycotting Tim's to "People are mad about things JRK said on Twitter" and "People are mad because they don't like Harry Potter". I heard the former stated as the reason on the radio the other day. Jesus Christ, no. People are mad because any money JKR gets from this promotion will be funneled straight into lobbying against transgender rights and access to healthcare in the UK. Very tangible real world harm. It isn't about the ideological purity of the stupid wizard donuts.
