GTA made me do it!

Posted on the Gamefaq boards for God of War:

I am 15 and have been wanting to play this game since it came out.

So, today, at Walmart, I picked it out and my mom said OK, so I was thinking (Yes, finally) then we get to the cash register and the cash clerk said "Are you aware of the content in this game?" to my mom. She said "Yeah, I'm ok with the whole digital violence thing." (i have the coolest mom) Then the clerk mentioned nudity in the game. And..... you can figure out the rest.

I was soooo close.

----------------

There were like 50 responses.. most were other teenagers bragging that they had gotten the game even though they were only (insert age here). A couple people saying that the guy would understand when he had kids of his own to protect..

Here's my response:

The clerk was right to say something to the parent. I've had to accept returns before from pissed off parents who say they had no idea what was in the game (even though it's written right on the package). I've talked many a parent (or grandparent) out of buying a game for a kid by playing the nudity card.. but I've never had any parent back away from the violence card.

For God of War, I told this one guy it had a ton of violence.. and that you could rip off a monsters arm and beat him to death with it. That didn't phase him, but then I mentioned OMG teh boobies!! He didn't buy it. *shakes head*

15 year olds these days see so much nudity that it's crazy to try to shelter them from the tiny amount in this game.. but the reason I warn off the parents is because so many of them will come back later and yell at me that I didn't warn them when they bought the fricken game.

These are the ones who have parenting on auto-pilot.

If you're going to keep a kid from playing this game, at least say it's because you don't like violent video games.

At least I could respect that.

Where do you guys stand on video game violence? Or parental control of such things?

Troi and Riker

I picked up the kittens today.. which took me about an hour and a half at the humane society waiting on them to be ready to go. Troi has some sort of intestinal parasite so I have to give her medacine for the next nine days, and I'm supposed to keep her seperate from the other cats, but I didn't do that because I'm less concered with the other cats getting worms than I am with her being alienated from the rest of the household. Hopefully her smelly poop-worms do not jump into Riker's butt too.

Riker is 5 months old, Troi is 4 months old.. (named after Star Trek: The Next Generation characters.. duh!) and they are both fricken cute. They both seem like they will be lap cats, especially Riker. When I got them home, Troi immediately wanted to explore the whole house, while Riker was a scaredy cat and stayed in the spare bedroom as long as possible.

Jewels Kitty is PISSED. She's like 13 years old or something, and doesn't like the idea of these damn kids running around. She's been the only cat in the house for like six years or something.. and she hissed like crazy at these kittens. If they moved, she hissed. She even hissed at me when I was petting her and they weren't around.. hopefully she'll mellow out soon.. I want a picturesque shot of them all sleeping on top of each other. :)

They've already tried scratching the couch.. so I'm reading up on my scratching training.. and I'll probably have to get another scratching post to supplement the scratching tree.. and perhaps coat my furniture with aluminum foil, since they apparently don't like that.

So that's my day so far.. :)

edit: oops.. I meant to put that in an iTunes community.. but thank you for those of my friends who know stuff.. and the random person who sent me a link to the program.. that looks like a cool program.. but I have windoze instead of Mac OS. :(

My roommate and I are on the same wireless network.. and I can listen to his music through iTunes nifty sharing feature. But if I like a song, I have to go over to his computer and copy it to a USB drive or something to bring it over to my computer.

Is there a way to just drag it into my music library or something?

Not that it's that hard to go over and grab one song, but there's lots of his stuff that I wanna put on mine, and lots of my stuff that he wants to put on his. Short of burning a cd full of .mp3 files, I'm not sure how to easily accomplish this.

My roommates computer seemed really bogged down, and when I checked the processes that were running, I noticed two that were hogging both memory and CPU usage.

psdoc.exe and wavemp3.exe

Both would spike to 99% cpu usage and steadily climb in memory usage, and then alternate and they'd go back and forth taking turns being the hog.

A short google search doesn't show either to be a terrible virus, but I don't know what they are or where they came from.

Of course, he's giving me the standard.. "I haven't installed anything or done anything out of the ordinary!"

Funny how I can go months and months without picking up one of these buggers, but he seems to get them in days. :)

Any ideas what these are? Or how to rid them? I've thus far only attempted deleting the file names, and removing them from the registery. I think I might have gotten the wavemp3 one.. but the psdoc.exe keeps coming back immediately after I delete it.

In the mail today:

1. A letter from Capital One credit card services.. informing me that my recent application was denied.

2. A seperate letter, also from Capital One, letting me know that due to my outstanding credit, I have been pre-approved for a platinum mastercard.

Why do they toy with me so? :)

On a side note, I've probably listened to this song a bit too much this week.
