Today is day 1,000 of my purplepig365 Photo A Day project. (No, I have not taken today's photo yet.)
It has definately been quite a challenge to shoot everyday, and I do think I have grown as a photographer.
I am now thinking of giving myself even more challenges, such as themed shoots. I am not sure if I want to start with those right away, or on 12/31, when the next year begins. Anyone have any ideas for themes?
Todays's Air1 VotD: "So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows." Matthew 10:31
So after like 3 days with the traps up to catch the House Sparrows, and not a single one going into the houses, the female finally got trapped a few minutes ago. And He says it is okay for us to do what had to be done.
And after the deed was done, He rewarded us with a visit from a FOY Ruby Throated Hummingbird who sat right on the feeder and drank a few times before darting off. Also, a Blue Jay came, and the Goldfinches.
(There was also a Robin sitting "waist deep" in the bird bath water after we noticed the trap was sprung. He was letting us know to look at the trap.)
So this has finally gotten me all annoyed that I am going to write about this... for all you hardware people out there:
Why is it, when I move stuff from my C: drive to my USB attached drives, I only get about 12.5 - 13.5 MB/s transfer rate? Shouldn't it be at least double that, if not more? Is it the USB cable I am using, or something else entirely? It's frustrating when it takes about 4 minutes to move 3 G of data!
The Spending Package (I refuse to call it Stimulus) was pushed through both the House and the Senate yesterday, paving the way for Obama to sign it into law on Monday. When this becomes law (because we know it will), it will be the largest government spending package ever.
I'm very... I don't even have a word to describe it... annoyed? Pissed? ANGRY? at Obama and the Dem leadership for outright lying to the American public but saying there are no earmarks in this legislation. If you read an earmark as a specific dollar amount going to a specific person in a specific district than no. If you look at it more broadly, as in specific dollar amounts going to specific districts and/or organizations, than yes, this legislation is over 60% earmarks and pork spending projects that will do little to nothing to stimulate growth in the economy.
The only good thing to come out of this disaster is that Conservatives seemed to have found their balls since none of them voted in favor of this bill in the House. There was even 7 Dems that crossed party lines and voted with the GOP against it.
One thing that really disturbs me in how fast the Dems pushed this through. They were more concerned with passing something than actually doing something good for this country. This bill was 8 inches thick when printed. The House gave the Senate only HOURS to vote, yet the Senate was promised 48 hours to go through it. Not only that, but there were no electronic copies of the bill presented... only printed ones... so there was no way to quickly scan through all the crap that was slipped in and hidden in there. And the big thing? NO ONE READ THIS FUCKING THING! These morons voted something through that was not even READ! You know damn well that Obama will not read it either. He'll just sign it.
So you have this destructive bill that will become law that was passed by people who didn't even bother to read it, didn't take the time to debate it, and didn't take the time to make it something that could possibly help the economy. Way to go, assholes!
So where is the transparency promised to us by Obama during the election? There is none.
You will be remembered as one of those Presidents who fucked up this country for generations with your partisan, dirty politics, your massive spendiing initiatives which will likely put us into a Depression, and your path to Socialism. You will not go down in history as a great President.
Your being black doesn't give you some special kinship to Lincoln.
Goodbye George Bush, and goodbye America. Despite all the simple-minded haters out there that blame you for everything, especially things out of your control, you kept us safe from future terror attacks. You might not have been the best President we've ever had, but you certainly were not the worst, either.
Hello Barack Obama, and hello France. I'm guessing by the time your 4 years are up, we will be living in a Socialist Democracy like France. You'll spend money like it's going out of style, put us into deeper debt, buy up all the businesses that you can, break lots of laws to suit your every need, and help China and India become super-powers (as we lose that status). We will become less competitive in the world, and probably be stuck in a long recession. The will of minorities will far outweigh the rights of the majority, and I figure the Constitution will be worth less than a sheet of used toilet paper once you're done with it.
