This year I am again hosting Thanksgiving, utilizing my parents' house (in Bothell).
(god willing, this time half of you won't end up with the death plague!)
Directions will be provided for those who might need them, and if you need ferrying from someplace to there, make sure we know so that appropriate measures might be taken!
Please let me know if you are interested, so that I might procure the proper amount of bird. Those of you who feel up to the task may be tapped to provide some sort of holiday-appropriate side dish.
All are invited, whether to eat, hang out, de-stress after a long day with family, whatever. We can play board games, watch TV, whatever!
Note: my parents do have two pugs, and they'll be there at the house. They are small and easily fended off, however.

I'm looking to sell my Sandman bookends. They look like this:
These are the Michael Zulli Dream/Daniel full-size (10")cold-cast hand-painted porcelain bookends that first came out in 1996, limited edition (2500 made, mine's somewhere in the mid-2000's). They have been out and displayed, but since they've been sitting in their box and in my closet since before I moved out to Seattle, I figured it'd be better to have them with someone who might actually appreciate them more than I do :)
I'm looking for about $200 for these, not including shipping (if local, I will happily schlep them to you). Please let me know if you are interested :)

SMITEFEST 3: The Hallowing
Date: October 17, 2009
Time: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Place: The big space beneath Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore (it’s called the “undercroft” in Episcopalian)
6211 NE 182nd Street
Kenmore, WA
Bring: Rock Band controllers, portable game devices, laptops, games, and any of that PAX spirit you have lying around
Questions!
Will there be churchy stuff? No. If you’re in need of some quiet time to come down after the event, Redeemer holds Compline services — a contemplative half-hour service of prayer and meditation that emphasizes spiritual peace — at 9:00 on Saturday nights.
Will I get any swag? This time, we've got some stuff to raffle! There's L4D2 hats, 2 TF2 hats, a sweatshirt and a poster, as well as a signed Halo 3: ODST poster and a signed Halo: Reach poster -- raffleage can be obtained by donating to Childs' Play Charity :)
So come on over on Saturday, and spend some time at church -- you can tell your Mom that you went to Church and didn't burst into flames! (Just don't mention that it was to play video games...)

3-Day Walk Thingie
OK, so checking into this a bit more, here's more details on starting up a team.
1) There's a $90 registration fee, due when you register for it on the site.
2) Each walker is responsible for $2300 in pledges.
If folks are still interested, I'm starting up the team under the name Strange Attractors. I'm not sure if you can sign up for the team until I've officially registered and paid.
Thoughts?

I think that I would be more willing to listen to people talking about Race!Fail and white privilege if it wasn't for the fact that those who talk about it the most are SO condescending. When you (the ubiquitous you, of course) insist on insulting the people you are trying to convince of your rightness, they will stop listening.

I'm going to take off folks who are posting about the amazon.fail thing for one reason:
1) My roommate works for Amazon. when I told her about this earlier today, she pointed out that items being excluded from having a sales ranking is determined by information received from the publisher. For instance -- the Laurell K. Hamilton Merry Gentry series is likely listed as "horror" by the publisher. Why, I don't know. But thusly it's included in the search engine on Amazon.
Honestly? I'm going to believe someone I've known for YEARS, who is bi herself, who works for Amazon over someone else in this situation. She's worked for Amazon for 8 years, and still loves it.
So yeah. Nothing personal, just takin' ya off for now. I'll put you back on when this thing dies down.

Step 4: For those who are guessing, looking up the lyrics is CHEATING.
Step 5: If you like the game, post your own.
