The Port Townsend Police Department logged at least 211 calls from May 7-14 and conducted at least 60 traffic stops, making DUI arrests. PTPD received several calls over the week regarding aggressive dogs that were either off-leash or not under their owners’ control, with the leash not held. PTPD asks that you help keep our pets and community safe by being a responsible pet owner.
MAY 7: Officers conducted a traffic stop. During their investigation, they discovered the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license, and the vehicle was impounded.
MAY 8: Officers conducted a school-zone
enforcement, resulting in four stops for speeding.
MAY 8: Officers conducted a search with a warrant in the 900 block of Lawrence Street, on a residence where it was believed a juvenile accessed a firearm that was previously used in an assault. No additional firearms were located during this search.
MAY 8: Officers responded to the QFC parking lot for reports of two men actively using drugs, possibly unconscious, with drug paraphernalia in their laps. When officers arrived, the passenger was known to officers, but refused to give his name. He had a warrant and attempted to flee on foot. Officers apprehended him after a brief foot pursuit and conducted a physical control arrest. The driver was arrested for DUI.
MAY 8: Officers responded to the Food Co-Op for a trespass. A woman who was previously trespassed from the location was inside the store. Officers arrived on scene and located the woman, who was taken into custody and arrested for trespassing.
MAY 9: Officers assisted medics with an individual who had passed out and soiled themselves in public. They were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
MAY 9: Officers responded to an assault near the 600 block of Sheridan Street. A woman shoved another woman down for making rude comments. The aggressor was arrested and booked for assault.
MAY 9: Officers responded to a local business regarding a man on scene who’d been
previously trespassed. Officers contacted the man and reviewed the trespass on file. The man was taken into custody and arrested for trespassing.
MAY 9: Officers responded to a local flower farm for a theft that occurred around midnight. The suspect was caught on camera, stealing multiple flower bouquets, then leaving the property. Officers are reviewing camera footage, and attempting to identify the suspect.
MAY 10: Officers took a report regarding an assault that occurred inside a local bar. The victim reported that they were randomly assaulted while sitting at a table inside the bar. The victim was hit multiple times, until the bartender intervened and apprehended
the suspect. The suspect was kicked out of the bar, and not allowed back. Officers later spoke with the suspect, who admitted to the assault. Charges were sent to the prosecutor’s office.
MAY 11: A small red bicycle belonging to a 4-year-old was lost. If anyone has seen this bicycle, the child would be very happy to get it back.
MAY 12: It was reported by city employees that derogatory statements were painted on the Memorial Field fence. No suspects have been identified.
MAY 12: Officers responded to a two-vehicle rear-end collision that occurred in a roundabout. The parties involved completed an exchange of information prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
