Psych Gen Rec Community

In case you haven't heard yet, there is a fandom auction taking place to help Haiti at help_haiti. Fans are offering fanfic/art/etc. in exchange for goodwill donations to charities assisting in Haiti.

Why recommend it?  Okay, first off, it is definitely AU. The show will never go there...more's the pity. Elwa does a fantastic job changing the premise--fake psychic becomes real psychic--while still remaining true to the style and feel of the show. All the characters are wonderfully in-character: I love the depiction of Shawn in particular, as he deals with gaining 'real live powers' in that simultaneously whacked-out and perfectly logical way he has. Also great is the Lassiter portrayal--I really buy that he's the same as he's always been but Shawn now has more insight into what he's thinking. Put all this on top of a solid mystery and some great one-liners, and you have a fic definitely worth re-reading. (and there's a sequel in the works, too!)

HOWDY!  Just posting this here to let everyone know there's a GREAT new Lassie/Jules partnership fic posted on Psychfic.  It's called "Fight or Flight" by Okapi.  Not Lassiet - strong partnership/friendship only - but it is twenty shades of AWESOME.  Plenty of action and so damn well written, they're one hell of a bad ass team in this story!  It's a MUST READ for any Lassie and Jules fan!

Why recced: This is one of the first Psych stories that really stuck with me.  I enjoyed the original character a lot, but even more, I really enjoyed Collegekid's take on Lassiter.  This was a refreshing story.

Why recced? True to the name, this is written in the form of an 'owner's guide' as if Shawn and the Psych gang were collectible action figures. The premise is remarkably sound, and I found this one to be laugh-out-loud funny ('private discussion' feature. carrying case. many other amusing jokes from the series!)

Note: Shawn/Juliet and Shawn/Lassiter are briefly mentioned, but neither 'ship occurs/is favoured and I consider this a gen piece.

Title:  The Spencers of Santa Barbara: The Curse of Benitoite

Why recced:  This story has so many elements that I love in a Psych fic – action/adventure, hilarious banter, scores of 80’s references and some fantastic hurt/comfort to round it out!  And dude?  UNCLE JACK!!!

Hi everyone!  I've been busy  getting this community up and running.  If you go to our main page you will now notice a wonderful banner made for us by eyestoowide .  She was also kind enough to make us a few icons and I hear buttons are on their way.

A few of you have already jumped in and made recs which is awesome!  I want to reiterate that ANYONE can make a rec!  It doesn't have to be your favorite story, just a story you liked and you think others will like as well. :)  Every time you make a rec you are letting that author know  that you appreciate her/his work.  There's nothing quite like that feeling to get a person writing more and thus the more recs up, the more gen!fic that may appear!   Also, the more you rec a work, the more that work gets found by others and the more gen for all of us to read!

Why recced? Hurt/comfort with spot-on characterization! The usually-background Buzz is featured in a main role that allows his character to develop while still keeping the eager-puppy sort of feel that makes him so likeable! This is one of those fics I find myself rereading every so often, for the pitch-perfect team!concern and overall feel.

Title: Choose It or Lose It

Description: Lassiter's dream .comes true when he accidentally obtains indisputable evidence that Shawn is a fake.  Fortunately for Shawn and Gus, Lassie doesn't know what he has yet, sparking a desperate race against time.  Can our dynamic duo sneak the evidence away from Lassiter before he discovers that he literally holds control over the future of Psych - and possibly Shawn's freedom - in his hands?

Why recced? This is one of those stories I didn't think I'd like at first and I was very wary of the concept, but the author handled it really well and by the end I was definitely a fan of the story.   Texas portrays things in a very realistic light with excellent details.
