Project ROOTS staff welcomes your group to our summer camp (& this LJ)!
PROJECT ROOTS IS: Project ROOTS is for teens who will still be attending high school in the coming school year, and the adult advisors who work with them!
We are non-profit volunteers of all ages, dedicated to giving you the best camp you have ever attended. This is a quality camp, one that you will want to attend every year.
We try to keep our prices lower than you would pay anywhere else, by using grants, donations and our own fundraisers.
We are involved with Project ROOTS because we enjoy working with teens, and have a strong belief that a teen living a safe and sober life is much healthier and happier.
If you are looking for a good way to use your organization's charitable funds, consider a general donation to Project ROOTS, or consider sponsoring a student who might not be able to attend otherwise. Contact Nikki Smith by using our wesite's information or by email, projectrootscamp@yahoo.com Registration forms and information are also posted on the site. Feel free to copy, paste and email the forms back to us.

THIS JOURNAL IS for staff, campers, and those interested to post and talk about how camp went, what they liked or disliked, or to keep in contact with those who attended. Also, to find information on what other schools or campers are doing during the "off-season."

THE MISSION IS The staff of Project ROOTS is dedicated to providing campers with the best and most memorable experience of their lives. We hope to provide them with the tools that will help them make positive choices for the rest of their lives. By involving campers in workshops and activities on topics such as leadership, drug and alcohol awareness, planning presentations, health issues, relationships, team building, diversity, communication, stress relief, how to run a meeting, and how to build a sucessful school club, they have a chance to learn what is important, and what is needed at their school.
Family groups are composed of campers from all different schools, ages and backgrounds. They learn how to be an effective part of a team and how to depend on others for support. They discuss, play, laugh and cry together. This is often many campers' favorite part of camp. The mission of family groups is to provide a safe and healthy environment for teens to share their feelings and emotions as well as problems and questions about camp or issues in their schools. Family groups are run by trained members of staff to ensure learning and communication and also a lot of fun!
The main mission of Project ROOTS is for teens to leave camp with an action plan for their schools and communities. These ideas are anything from starting an alcohol and drug free group, such as SADD, or planning an important activity for their school, such as alcohol awareness week, presenting an assembly to their elementary or middle school, or showcasing diversity.
