I'm Ingrid Hunnigan. I'm an employee of the Department of Defense. I learned of Salazar through the Los Illuminados affair.
I've heard that there is some discomfort in Salazar's arrest. Salazar may have let you know that his castle was raided by US and Spanish authorities. Some of the evidence we seized: his personal journals throughout his life as a member of Los Illuminados.
There are some factors in his case that allow for a measure of sympathy. However, sympathy must temper justice, not overthrow it.
I helped to translate the journals, and I can vouch for the agent who recovered them. Quite simply, Salazar wrote this:
There was another intruder in my castle this week, directly after the one from three days ago! Perhaps they knew one another and this one was looking for his friend. Damned if I know. I supposed I could ask him since he still chained in the dungeon, but oh well. It’s not like I’m interested in hearing his life story. He’s just a snack being held onto for another time (since his assumed friend has already sated my hunger) and nothing more.
Well, I suppose he could also be considered a plaything in the meantime too.
This is not his only entry. This is not his only victim. He had to kill once a month in order to eat human flesh.
One of these entries a month, on average. He killed more often purely because he wanted to.
I stand fully behind Mr. Kennedy in his recent actions.
