He did it for a whole term, and he was good at it, as he'd always been good at everything he'd done. Good soldier, good sniper, good lap dog for Caroline Reynolds, good at framing a man for murder, and then setting him free. When his term ended, he found himself unwilling to do it again, and set adrift.

He'd also become good at pining away for a woman he had no right to ever think about.

Author’s Notes: So rosie_spleen wrote This is Me which is a Lincoln one-shot indicating that he knew Christina is not his mother. A discussion ensued, and then this fic happened. They aren’t really related, but that’s my A/N for this story. It’s been a while since I wrote any PB fic, and I never expected to write this version of Christina, but here you go. This is also probably as close as I’d ever get to killing Linc. It’s totally non-specific. Title stolen from Dr. Seuss. Spoilers through 4x20.

Michael had big eyes that held every emotion he felt and one could always tell how much he loved his mother as he gazed at her. With Lincoln, it was harder to tell. Christina thought he loved her; he certainly had the dogged devotion of a Labrador, and he had shown it every day since Aldo left.
