A Story For BedtimeHi chaps,
I am a father of three little ones, biggest and smallest are on my lap helping me read a story in my userpic. Not sure where the middle one was, probably doing something naughty. Reading stories is something I get asked to do a lot, and they love listening to CDs of stories over and over and over again. I figured it would be cool to record me reading them some stories, then burn a few CDs so they could listen to that instead whilst I sit downstairs with a beer and a curry :-) After I recorded a couple of CDs I thought it would be rather cool if I could share those recordings with others and play back recordings of bedtime stories from other people to my kids. Folk from all over the place, with accents I would even find tough to understand. Capetown, New Delih, New Orleans, Glasgow etc. This would probably help the kids understand people from diverse places better than I can. Another aspect of sharing these recordings would be the benefit to kids from families with for whatever reason, just the mother bringing up the kids. There are kids out there who talk to the mother, the female nursery staff, the female primary school teachers, and never hear a bloke read a story to them or even the sound of a male voice until they are in secondary school. So I put together a website (cos I am a geek underneath the daddy bit) called A Story For Bedtime where I am collecting a repository of MP3 files of bedtime stories. I have been talking to publishers of childrens books and I have copyright permissions to freely share the audio recordings which is really cool (childrens book publishers are much nicer than the rest of the media industry!) so come along and check it out, please read some stories, or even make up an original story, and let me know how you get on.

Childbirth survey.

Hello! I am doing research for a term paper on homebirth versus hospital birth and would very much appreciate some help from you! All you have to do is fill out this very brief survey:

First, just for statistical purposes:
1. Age:
2. Gender:
3. Location (just the country or region's fine):

Now, the survey itself:
1. What does the phrase "homebirth" mean to you?
2. What does the phrase "hospital birth" mean to you?
3. Have you or has anyone you know given birth in a hospital? What was the experience like?
4. Have you or has anyone you know given birth at home? What was the experience like?
5. If niether you nor anyone you know has ever given birth, where do you think you or they would?
6. Which do you think is the safer option? Why?
7. What would influence your choice of either option?
8. What would be your concerns about either option?
9. Who do you think would provide better care, a doctor or a midwife? Why?

Comments will be screened for the privacy of commentors, but if you'd like your reply to be public feel free to make note of it and I'll unscreen it.

Thank you very very very very much anyone and everyone who chooses to help me out with this. If you could please direct other people this way, I'd really appreciate that too. It's a very informal survey, but it'd definately help to get as wide a sampling as possible, ne? Thank you!

Is it normal for men to suffer the wrath of their partners hormones?

In the last few days I feel like everything I do or say is wrong - and although nothing will stop me from loving and supporting my partner, it's driving me potty!

She's 10 weeks gone so far - does it get better/worse or stay the same?

At the moment I'm feeling reluctant to say a lot of things in case they get misinterpreted and end up in tears again.....

BABY SCAN

We had our first scan on Friday. Baby is 54.5mm from crown to tail and soooooooooo beautiful. While we were watching the screen, baby nodded its head and it was so cute! My jaw dropped and my mouth stayed wide open throughout the scan - hand tightly holding Claire's - face beaming!
Our baby! We saw our baby!

We saw the little heart pumping, the umbilical cord pulsating - the little one has already become as stubborn as its mother! It refused to take its ickle hands away from its cute ickle nose after it had nodded so we could get another good look at its face! It was like, 'no, you've had your fun, leave me alone, I'm sleeping here!'

Aww, it was so cute!

:)

I'm a very happy daddy-to-be!

Greetings fellow pregnant men :-)

I thought I'd introduce myself to the community, and give you a little background to my current circumstances.. billzy may already know some/all of this from my journal over at broomster :-)

I'm Mike aka broomster, and my pregnant other half is Caroline (Caz) aka underyourspell :-)

We've both got kids from our previous partners - my son who lives with me is Ashley aka broomster_jr, and Caz's son is James - theomegaranger...

At present we're doing the dreaded long distance thing - I live about 220 miles away from my beloved... I found out yesterday that my darling Caroline is pregnant :-)

Being apart sucks - but it has also given us plenty of strength too! I'm moving down to be with Caroline sometime between now and April at the latest.. That way we can get our family together and ready for the baby before it's born :-)

Anyway, that's the introduction over - I hope to be posting more once we know more :-D

excited

At 5.50am on Saturday morning, my wife came bursting into the bedroom, turned on the light and thrust the pregnancy test under my nose ...... :)

We're going to have a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I do to help look after my wife and foetus?!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any good tips etc?

The wife and I found out that we're gonna have a baby this a month ago on our 6mo anniversy... So first thing, we decided to high-tail it from Seattle to SLC too be closer to family. Now that the move is over were looking for jobs so we can get insurance hear real soon. It was far to expensive to remain in Seattle any longer with a baby on the way and all of our bills. Anyways we would have never been able to afford a house on our pay there. Here is SLC it's alot cheaper and we can get paid just about the same too. So that's the deal with the first two months. Besides the lack of interest in sex this past 2 weeks and the constant irritation at me and everything that comes around the better half, the pregnancy is going good.
One last thing that i need to rant on about, it sucked to have to move all of our stuff alone, yeah alone, well mostly alone. I just hope she remembers that I worked my butt off to get us out here so soon. It's just been kinda hard emotionally this last week and I want Samantha to stop being irritated at everything. I'm trying. But all else seems good... so far.

Do hubbies nest?

My wife (barbles) is due in November. She's at 32 weeks right now, and it just dawned on me that we are the opposite of ready for this baby. I've spent the last couple of hours in deep contemplation, and I'm now freaked out. This is why the girls shouldn't leave us alone with baby books. HELP!
