Hi! I have no money, but want to post pix of my art online for professors/customers. Aside from the usual free trial periods, any suggestions on places where I can post a bunch of pix for free and not have them go away in a few weeks? Thanks!
My mom is a first grade teacher who needs your wisdom...She has had her first graders create their pottery and it has been drying for months. However, she needs help with the kiln specifics...Temperature? When to close the lid? How long they bake at each temperature? etc.
My mother also has to make repairs to some of the broken items. Here she needs your help with what kind of glue to use prior to intial firing and/or if water will suffice to hold the object together, how long must it dry before intial firing?
After glazing the objects, what are your instructions for firing them (on stilts, on bases, on shelves, etc.)?
In the future, if needed, what glue should she use to bind separate pieces to make one unit? And should the items be glued pre-glaze or post-glaze?
Thanks in advance for your help! :0)

Hi folks,
My name is Courtney and I am a potter/student. I am researching ways in which web and other digital resources can be a part of the creative and learning processes of other ceramists. Do you have any thoughts or resources you might share with me? I would love to hear about your experiences with websites or your feelings on web technology and ceramics. For example, do you think there is a clash between the earthy, traditional qualities of ceramics and the new, somewhat intangible nature of the web?
Thanks for reading!
P.S. I would be glad to share some of my own resources as well!
(x-posted, hope that's ok!)

I work with glass, I have taken a few throwing classes and was wondering does anyone know about how safe/ok/side effects there are when putting pices of glass to melt as a glaze? I understand glaze is very much "glass like" just was wondering if there are any hints/tips etc.
My thoughts were to put a piece of glass on the inside of a bowl and see what happened but a little afraid of blowing up a piece of expensive equipment.
Many thanks
J
I just recently (as in a week ago) moved to Columbus, OH. I really want to find a studio where I can get involved in throwing pottery. I am from Missouri and I used to take classes at a place there. I feel like I am experienced enough to just have "studio time" without an instructor. Any suggestions as to where to find a studio near me?
So, for my birthday, which is tommrow (Happy Birthday to me!) I am getting 2 small kilns. This wasn't planned, but we happened to run into a deal. An man who we have known for years, his Grandmother apparently have dymentia and has been put in a hospital. Well she had these two kilns, a small low fire and a small high fire, both no taller than my waist. They didn't know how much to sell them for so they offered them to us for $300 both both together. Well I'm all kinds of excited, but there is the new problem:
I've been trained in throwing, and my knowledge about the kilns is almost nothing. I know how to load them, and thats about it. And I have no idea about this small high fire kiln. I have no idea where to start to find more information about learning to fire these. I'm going home later today, so I might post pictures of them then. I need help.
