AGE 27.5 - Yes, the half counts, doesn't it? I am at the point where I would like the ageing process to halt now. Want to stay in my 20's for a few more years if possible. Will be willing to try any experimental potions and/or serums to achieve this feat!
LOCATION Liverpool, UK...when at home. Birkenhead, UK...when at work.
OCCUPATION Database Admin for the civil service, as much boring as anything...but it pays.
PARTNER Um, you what now? Who? Erm...no-one. KIDS Let me sort out the subject above first, then come back to me. Never used to want them, don't know now, but I can come back to that in the future.
BROTHERS/SISTERS 1 older sister. In many ways, my complete opposite. Happily moved out after losing the battle of the stereos, industrial/metal FTW. (only kidding I'm not that loud and annoying...really)
PETS None :-( Want a kitten in the future.
List the 3/5 biggest things going on in your life: Oh...fuck...there is very little going on in my life.
PARENTS Still together, get on really well with them.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS? Dom, one of my oldest friends from my youth outside Quiggins. Good lad, studying in Bristol so don't see that much of him. Kris, happily married in Denmark, again one of my oldest and probably my closest friends. Again don't see him much. Clare, close friend throughout uni and beyond, currently living in Burnley, again don't see her much. (there's a common theme here) Wuggy, confident and close friend, always there to listen and advise, great laugh, still him regularly...this is just a selection, there are more...they know who they are. I only list the above as examples off the top of my head, mainly to link a common underlying theme with me and my friends, which is simply I don't see enough of them for one reason or another.
Typical, Xmas/Yule is nearly here, and I am practically incapacitated...marvellous.
I have been trying my best to shake off this flu thing, to no avail...perhaps if I hadn't needed to have done all my shopping in the snow/hail/sleet/rain yesterday, I may have been on the road to recovery as I felt this coming on at the beginning of last week.
Still, I have been brave and soldiered on as far as I can go in work, which means I shall be heading off home for some R&R to aid in my festive recovery.
In other words, can I have my man-flu sympathy vote please?
Things are still a mixed bag, so nothing new to report there; although I must admit that I am having a perculiar day. My brain is like a jukebox at the moment, a broken one at that. For some reason it seems stuck in a loop, on reapeat as it were. The worst of it?
It's not even anything I would normally listen to (by normally I refer to the fact I do not own the song in any shape or form, and it certainly isn't on my I-Pod)...in fact as far as I can recall, I haven't heard this song in some years.
So, can anyone tell me just how in the hell I have Queen's version of Flash Gordon in my head???
Honestly, I am having one of those days a strange one. Due to the unremitting boredom of my day in the office, or perhaps a mixture of too much caffiene and sugar, but there are times I do feel like bursting emphatically into the chorus...'Flash....Aarrhh!'.
Perhaps my fragile mind has finally cracked...perhaps, just perhaps...I need a little more mental stimulation during my working day. Hopefully it is the latter.
Anyway, besides my impending mental breakdown...anyone going to see the Cruxshadows at the Masque? If so, do you have tickets already? Again, if so, how? I have been top all the box offices in town as well as the venue and cannot find them anywhere...help required please.
Well, it's not as melodramatic as the title suggests, however for those not in the know but still planning on heading to my place for the bbq, it's been cancelled due to my being a bit under the weather.
Yup, my throat has gone on it's summer holiday and not come back yet, and to cap it all off, I feel rather crappy to boot...general illness.
However, whilst on the subject, nearly everyone whom I've had some sort of contact with has in some way or another asked the question regarding to it being swine flu or not. I have even had one person advise me to get an ambulance and get to a hospital or doctor to be sure. When did people all of a sudden become so jumpy? It's because of the media and their words such as 'pandemic' (oh, the papers and news programmes loved that word from the first story of Swine Flu) and 'epidemic' which has whipped parts of the general population into a frenzy of hypochondriacs. The NHS has advice sites which allows you type in your symptoms, which is not helping either, feel a bit run down? Have a cough? Are you noticing your body going through changes? Is hair appearing where it didn't before? Do you have an itchy burning sensation between your toes?...Call an ambulance you have Swine Flu (or words to that effect).
Basically any slight illness? Panic!
Now, yes I am a man. Yes, like most men, I like to be made a fuss over whilst ill and therefore I milk it, but come on...the NHS is over burdened at the best of times, but people are trying to stretch it even further by over-reacting to anything that is less than 100% healthy. Can't people just accept that illness happens, and there are more than one viral strains of illness out there? Yes I accept that Swine Flu is a big thing, it is out there...but to my knowledge people can and do get better from it. I am by no means claiming it's absolutely nothing to worry about, it is a worry...and to those out there who have contracted it themselves, or know anyone who has, my thoughts and well wishes are sincerely with you. It's not exactly one of those 'better to get it now and get it out the way' things...actually,(tangent) does anyone still subscribe to that philosophy? I'm sure there are illnesses where it really isn't better to get it over and done with and just carrying on with life...the black death plague springs to mind for starters.
Ok, so where was I? Ah yes...Swine Flu = bad. Illness = Bad...but not every little cough or sore throat or slight poorly feeling is related to Swine Flu. Fair enough if you're feverish with flu like symptoms, I would advise that you get checked asap. However a sore throat, lack of voice and slightly dizzy nauseous feeling are not in the same ball park...I know as I have had the flu once or twice before, so therefore I am not going to panic.
So anyway, I am ill, on a rant to anyone who will listen, not happy about having to cancel my weekend plans but there you have it.
* Managers should not argue about timing issues in work (timesheets, work logs etc) if they cannot count or add up properly. If one must argue using statistics, it is always helpful to have them being correct.
* When is the Queen's birthday? As I get that day off supposedly.
* What should I get for lunch a Subway footlonger, or a Burger King?
* Has my job eroded my sanity so much that I am now resorting to gaining the insights of others regarding my lunch?
* It's too hot, and all my clothes are black...the office air con is as useful as a punctured condom, the fan next to my desk keeps blowing my data log sheets all over the place...come back dark clouds, I miss you.
Does anyone know of where I can get a free English to Kanji translation?
I have decided what I want for my next tattoo, and yes you guessed right, I would like something in Kanji down my left forearm.
I really could use a little help with this, as I am have been trying so far this morning without success to get a translation that I don't have to pay for.
Oh, how I wish that Hollywood would stop remaking films, in particular I really wish they had not announced a remake of Total Recall.
The original may not be every person's cup of tea, but it was still a damn fine film in my opinion, and when it comes to films, I am firmly in the 'if it ain't broke...' catagory.
Please Hollywood, a decent film should never have to be re-made, if only the studio execs would focus on new films, or if it is entirely necessary to re-make a film, by all means re-make a really shit one (obviously into something less shitty!), somethingnothing like the awesomeness of Stop or My Mom Will Shoot...more like something along the same lines of shittiness as Indian Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, now that would be a challenge!
And while I am on the subject of remakes...has anyone noticed that there's a new series of Knight Rider on Sci-Fi channel? I am not going to go into my rant again, as unlike films, I have been proven wrong with remakes or re-imaginings of t.v. series, most notably BSG, has anyone actually watched this, and is it any good?
Is it just me who has movie re-make phobia? Am I insane or am I just bored in work and in need of a bitching session?
