Postcrossing on LJ

Are you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. Some of you have been asking Postcrossing to block postcrossers in Russia and Belarus, as a way to protest the war. We understand the feeling of helplessness and the will to do something. But the same way we believe people of all ages, genders, religions or other beliefs have a place in Postcrossing, we don’t think people’s nationality or what their governments are doing should be used as a reason for excluding them from the project. Postcrossing is about regular people, and not their governments, politicians or generals. If you feel strongly that you do not want to send postcards to postcrossers in a certain country, we respect that — but in that case, please don’t request any addresses on the website for now.

There also was a card from Iran sent via Germany but Paulo removed it from the system because the Iranian user was afraid to show any relation to Israel, even such a small one. Also I got 2 postcards from Iceland and 2 from Guernsey which are pretty rare countries too. And 3 from Macao and Kazakhstan :)

To all those who are too lazy to scan their cards (because it's a long and annoying process) - here is an app that can help you. It's called Google PhotoScan, and it transforms a paper picture into an image on your phone in seconds. I understand that it deals with subjects such as reflections, angles, perspective, and so on. Both Android and iPhone are supported. Here is a link to the Android version. Very much recommended!

;) bought in our local "tropical museum" .. or "museum for tropical affairs" .. or.. whatever
nice detail: the museum shop is located behind the ticket check...
so basically one only can buy their special cards (and other stuff) after paying the entrance fee...
even for dutch ways that's quite unusual

when i found the card i was all.. owwww details...
and people love 'map' cards. . so..
bought it.
(not thinking anything funny that a manga/comicbook store sold map-cards.. it's amsterdam.. anything can and will happen here)

this morning i thought of the card.. wanted to write it..
and checked if the street where i live was on it.
when i found out the ' map' was mirrorerd... or so i thought at first...
the canals are supposed to be on the left side of central station.. but in mirrorerd or tillted way .. that would make sense only if the names were right.

;) special genre?

As part of the Passover holiday (in the spirit of freedom and liberty), I made the following resolution: I will not write more than one postcard per day. In recent months, as the simultaneous traveling cards quota has risen steadily, I found myself sitting with stacks of postcards to send. Too expensive, too time consuming, and the quality goes down. If anyone else here feels like me, enslaved to this hobby, give it a thought. Are you the owner of your eligible quota, or does it own you?

My best friend Tatiana will have two holiday in one day in January 25: birthday and day of Tatiana's name! She will be 24 years old. I want to congratulate her with many postcards! I ask you to helm me to make her a memorable birthday! She have never been a postcrosser, but always interested in my mailbox joys. So shewill be really glad with this gift!
