I will crosspost to AO3 sometime within the week!

I had the honor of being an artist for the Leverage Big Bang this year! I really enjoyed working with my author, and had a great fic to work with.

I worked on Dead Man's Hand, and as a former music major, I decided to make a two-sided fan mix.

Left Hand:(Side A)

Track 1: "Maybe", Allison Kraus and Union Station. Both lyrically and musically, this struck me as the best Eliot song to start with. (Maybe I'm strong as stone/Maybe I can stand alone)

Track 2: "Letters" Matt Cardle. This was the song I immediately thought of when Eliot comes to. Again lyrics. (Send a Message/To my heart.)

Track 3: "Disarm" Smashing Pumpkins. This is my personal shoutout to Shelley and Quinn, as well as Eliot (The killer in me is the killer in you.)

Track 4: "Monster" Kris Allen. This is Eliot's first flashback song. (Did I ever think to tell you that I am a monster?)

Track 5: "Distortions" Clinic. This is the one song I chose mostly for the music more than the lyrics. I think this is what Eliot's brain noise sounds like sometimes.

Track 6: "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" Death Cab for Cutie. OT3 feels.

Track 7: "If You're Gone" Matchbox Twenty. Eliot's second flashback song, from the perspective of Parker and Hardison. (If you're gone, baby you need to come home.)

Track 8: "Scars" Allison Iraheta. This is the OT3, laying on a bed, vulnerable and together. (Take me/This is all that I've got/This is all that I'm not/All that I'll ever be.)

Track 9: "In Time" Kris Allen. I don't normally include two of the same artist on a fanmix, but I think for this story, it's Eliot recognizing that he's come a long way, and he has a long way to go, and the only thing that will take is time. (In time I'll heal/In time these wounds will show me what's real.)

Track 10: "Do What You Have to Do" Sarah McLachlan. This song just seemed to fit where Eliot contemplates his own death, the potential death of his team. (And I have a sense to recognize/that I don't know how to let you go)

Track 11:
"Mayday" The Icarus Account. Ultimately this about the team rescuing Eliot in more ways than one. This song. (Can you save me from myself?)

Track 12: "Heartbeat" David Cook. Eliot waking to his heart monitor is important. Plus, the lyics "Close my eyes, I'm not alone/Let the heartbeat take me home." sort of sums up the resolution for me. (plus for anyone who knows me, it's not a mix without some D. Cook.)

Right Hand (Side B)

Track 1: String Quartet no. 14, op 131, C Sharp minor, Mvt 1, Adagio Ma non troppo, Ludwig von Beethoven. One of the most aching pieces of music I've ever heard, with this being written after Beethoven was fully deaf, makes it that more bittersweet, fits the beginning of the story perfectly.

Track 2: "Hand Covers Bruise," from The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Chosen both for title and music. The jarring mix of ambient noise with the melody felt like being broken in the hospital.

Track 3: "Memories (Somewhere We'll Never Know) from Moon, by Clint Mansell. For both the title and music, this felt reflective, distant, and sad. Eliot relaying his memories of a past he would like to forget.

Track 4: Trio in G Minor for Piano, Violin, and Cello, op. 17: mvt 3 Andante, Clara Schumann An OT3 classical track.

Track 5: Reflets dans l'eau, Claude Debussy. It's not a heist in a Las Vegas casino without Debussy. (Shout out to Ocean's Eleven)

Track 6: Clarinet Concerto mvt 2, Adagio, Gerald Finzi. Not only is this one of my favorite pieces of music, I just felt the mood fit the tense nature of the con, as well as Eliot's thought process during the time in Las Vegas.

Track 7: The Chairman's Waltz, from Memoirs of a Geisha by John Williams. Included for three reasons: 1. It felt like con music, intricate, yet delicate. 2. It fit with the flow of the music. 3. JOHN WILLIAMS

Track 8: The Planets, Op 32, H 125, Mvt 2 Venus, The Bringer Of Peace. This was mostly for the title (the music fit too,) because this is about Eliot bringing peace to himself, but also because Venus is the goddess of love, which is what brings Eliot peace as well.

Track 9: Afraid of Time from Interstellar by Hans Zimmer. The final confrontation, in musical form, although more a mental confrontational piece than a physical one.

Track 10: "Hand Covers Bruise (Reprise,)" from The Social Network, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Because the story ends up in the hospital a second time

Track 11: Lux Aurumque, Eric Whitacre. Again, this felt like a resolution song. I wavered back and forth between the choral and instrumental version, but ultimately felt the choral version fit better.
