Spent 1.5 hours on hold and then another hour talking to an AT&T rep about a couple of issues. Issues were not resolved and was told that a supervisor would call me back within the hour. That was 8 hours ago. Thanks for nothing, AT&T.

I'm now looking for new cell and internet fiber service.

So, I've been wanting to learn a second language in an official way. I say official, because I can read and understand German but only because I used to work for a German-based company and my co-workers would always email me in German. I still struggle to speak it, though. I think I now want to learn Spanish, but in a more official way. I'm just not sure what the best "official" way is. Now that I'm almost 60 years old, I'm not sure I really want to take a college class on the subject. There must be another way, right?

As a test, I decide to disable my ad blocker for one of my favorite Linux and Open Source news sites. Wow! Most of the page is covered in ads. I knew that there might be one or two but how can anyone visit a site like this without an ad blocker? I understand the site owner needs to pay the bills, but maybe put up a donation link or something instead of all the ads? This is all very off-putting.

Is anyone running the Tuba client on Linux? If so, is there a way to refresh the timeline without constantly opening the settings and clicking on refresh?

My neighbor is wanting to move away from WordPress since the project is all-in on AI. She read that Drupal is, as well, and is now wondering if @joomla is? Does anyone have any info on this? I tried to get her to try a SSG but she says she's not quite ready for that just yet.

I wish that I was a better writer. I write a blog post, make a promise to myself to keep writing, and then write an apology blog post for not writing 3 months later. It's just a vicious cycle, it seems.

I won't be celebrating 250 years of the United States tomorrow. As an American, I can't even imagine why anyone would want to. I am going to spend my 4th of July trying to figure out how to forget how horrible of a country we are, and it may take a lot of drinking to do so.

So, today I was called a "Luddite" because I don't like AI.

Call me what you want, but when it comes to folks losing their jobs, data centers sucking up our water and causing higher energy bills for people already struggling, LLMs being trained on stolen data, and so many other ethical issues, I won't budge or back down on how I feel.

I will proudly accept the Luddite label. I've been around for nearly 60 years and have had a pretty shitty go of it the past 5 or so years. You can't hurt my feelings.

I will say one thing for the current crop of Democrats and their Party: Their inability to accomplish anything or fight Trump on anything, is getting a lot of socialists recognized and elected.
