How many of your LiveJournal friends have you met?

When I joined LiveJournal at the start of 2003, I acquired numerous friends who lived in my own city of Edinburgh (population 515,000). Although most of them hadn't been real-life fiends, I was able to meet many of them in person, and, being familiar with the same places, we had many shared experiences. Now, if anyone at all from my city is still on LiveJournal, none are on my friends-list. Although I remain committed to LiveJournal and am keen to get to know people wherever they may be, it seems less easy to connect with people when there is no familiarity and shared experience to build upon. I wonder if this is the same for others who are still using LiveJournal?
