VR joystick
A downloadable tool for Windows
¿Do you love super monkey ball? ¿or maybe Kirby tilt and tumble? ¿Do you think D-pads and analog sticks are not enough for some games?
Well, you're weird, but don't worry, i've got you! This very simple interface developed on Unity allows you to calibrate a single HTC vive controller into what's basically a giant analog stick.
How does it work exactly? The app maps resting position and tilt on every direction and then maps those ranges of rotations into an Xinput left analog value. It emulates an Xinput device so you don't need a joystick or to install anything else.
Functions it includes:
- Mapping every Xinput control to any button on the HTC vive controller (mind you, there's only 4 buttons (menu, trackpad click, trigger and grip). If there's enough demand i can add trackpad UDLR clicks, but i figured 4 buttons should be enough for most cases.
- Saving and loading setting profiles, so you can have different sets of key mappings for different games.
- Sliders for Sensitivity, deadzone and curve, to control the behaviour of the mapping as you please. The defaults are the ones that give you 100% range across the whole spectrum, but maybe deadzone is mandatory for some game, since the mapping is very sensitive.
⚠️WARNING: not tested with VR headsets other than HTC vive. If you buy and test this anyway with an oculus or whatever, feel free to contact me and i'll give it a shot at adding support. Most likely the motion control still works but the buttons are all mapped wrong, or outright not working.
