It’s been just over a year since Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 released! I did the 3D work, which mostly means Tenna 📺 I figured it’s been long enough to share some “behind the scenes” stuff, starting with a look at the Maya file for his static poses…

image

I’d individually render the poses to get that early 3D shine ✨ Here’s some of them at their original resolutions! I would work from text descriptions from Toby, and sometimes there’d be a Paint sketch to help out. Gigi drew the concept that I modeled from and some poses too!

image

I had a lot of fun pushing myself to match the dynamic poses Toby had in mind for Tenna - making him so crazy and expressive was something I couldn’t have done without his prompts. He’d draw the faces on afterward too, which really brought Tenna to life!

oh yeah, I never posted these redraws of older designs! would love to make these into vrchat avatars too, but they’d be pretty complex. I keep trying to learn that specific 80s/90s pc98 art style periodically… these two were the most detailed I’ve drawn for a long time

the new deltarune chapters are out!! its been so fun seeing people’s reactions again… I did some more work for them - I won’t share anything specific for a while to avoid spoilers, but I think you could take a guess at what it was I did LOL, go play!!

been messing around with making a (faked, actually 2D) 3D dungeon crawler without a game engine the last few days - never tried making anything in just C# and monogame with visual studio before, its like a fun puzzle…

simple little external tool for making the number arrays that generate the maps I put together today, haven’t done much like this before either so it’s fun, idk how I’d do something like this as simply in unity lol

messed around with making textures and learnt how to shrink the render area of the screen down and crunch stuff to make it run better

a couple of days ago I learnt about the existence of printing filaments made with wood fibers so I’ve become fully brain obsessed with learning how to use them to print wooden toys… they can be sanded, stained and varnished - I just have to get more items and learn how to use them… wooden toy 💭

sanded and oiled…! I’ll prob do one more print with shallower eyes so they don’t get shadowed out and better connections between the wing tips, then I’ll be done
