In 10 hours I help bury my wife

(Technically she is not my legal spouse -That is Duck - but she and the Duck have had joint custody from the beginning and as far as I was concerned she was my person. Also so we referred to each other as "wife" so there ya go).

It's so f*cking unfair. Cancer is horrible and pointless and evil and cruel.

I accomplished my 3 goals for the day (eat, shower, pack) and I should probably try and sleep, but when I wake up there is a funeral and part of me feels like if I just stay up all night the funeral won't happen. Or something. I don't really know.

Either way, 2015 continues to find new and novel ways to suck.

Location, Location, Location...

Neep's BF belongs to my new friend S who is a curvy, confident, comic-reading, movie-watching, smart, successful redhead who cannot seem to find a compatible guy among the local offerings. I assured her that if she ever moved to Cambridge she would be flush with prospects, but that is cold comfort. (She recently quipped that it is too bad I am not a single guy since we have a ton in common, and I can't really disagree given how easy it is to just chill out together, but if you know anyone in CT who is single and looking, let me know!) :)

Dear Universe...

I think there are a lot of people who need a refresher course in kindergarten skills like "play nice", "don't touch without asking", "mind your words", and "remember you aren't the only person who has feelings".

*sends hugs out to anyone reading this*

Kombucha?

I heard a rumor (and at this point it is only that) claiming that Kombucha does a billion healthy things and would possibly regulate my tummy issues. I did a quick google search (and yes, I am going to ask my doctor) but it doesn't seem to affect diabetes adversely. I know some of you swear by the stuff but can you tell me why? Or if you have friends who do, why are they such fans? I'd love to know. Thanks!

One. More. Day.

Tell me what fun you are up to this coming holiday weekend so I jealously read it tomorrow and stay alert at work. I will be heading up to NH for hiking, canoeing, fireworks, bonfires, and SLEEEEEEEP.

Hey Foodies!

One if By Land, Two if by Sea (a restaurant I have never been to but have wanted to try as it gets rave reviews every year) is doing this promo where they are giving out $30 gift cards if you email them your address. I sent an email Monday night before bed and came home to a gift card today. It is still a really pricey night out but it costs you nothing to have this coupon "just in case", so I called and asked them if they would mind if I signal-boosted it and they said now. Details below:

COMPLIMENTARY $30 GIFT CARDS

In celebration of our 39th Anniversary we are offering a complimentary gift card worth $30 off dinner for two. E-mail info@oneifbyland.com with your street address and we will mail you a gift card.

Huh...

I think I might've found a unicorn. (Details to follow when the identification process is complete).

Weekend was full of things that are making me smile that I never expected.

Also, if I do the Susan Komen race on September 12th in NYC (my company is putting together a team and I figure it would be nice to do something with my coworkers besides complain about management), I'm wondering if anyone on LJ-land would donate/sponsor me? I know we are flush with walks and events but I figure this would be my first fundraiser in over a decade... thoughts?
