Capital District, NY

My fiance and I are getting married on July 10th of this year. We're having a bit of a hard time finding an officiant, as the town clerk that we wanted to use is out on medical leave, and the only other people we have been able to find are catholic priests. Does anyone have a reccomendation for an officiany in the Albany/Schenectady area?

Is there anything interesting going on in the Cap Region this NYE?

Does anyone know of any places locally that are accepting donations of various things for our troops for this Christmas? My work is trying to organize a donation drive and I'd like to try to contact a place locally to see if we can bring our donations to them.

where is a good place to buy used furniture? any good junk shops around?

Does anyone know of a place in the area that does Clam Bakes? I know Langoliers(sp?) does, but we are also looking for a place that does other menu options as well (we have some people who don't like seafood and/or who are vegitarians). I've done a couple online searches and can't find anything.

20 senators publicly stated their support for equal marriage, 32 are needed to pass the bill. Please check this list and contact your state senator and urge them to support marriage equality for all couples.

Marriage is a civil rights issue, nobody should be denied the 1,800 state and federal benefits that come with marriage, such as the right to visit a loved one in a hospital, file joint tax returns, co-adopt kids, and many other rights and privileges enjoyed by heterosexual couples.

From the success of the April 15th Tax Day Tea Parties, comes the first statewide Tea Party that will soon be replicated across the country. Join us on Tuesday, June 16th in Albany in front of the NY State Capitol.

People are bussing in from all over (NYC, LI, Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, etc), and will have signs and t-shirts that show where they are from. This is the first of many statewide tea parties across the country, and the theme is Liberty Starts Here...Again. It will focus on NYS government, and the Campaign for Liberty will have a table and presence there. We will be collecting petitions for HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act, and will have Constitutions and Campaign for Liberty literature to handout.

Bring your Campaign for Liberty or Ron Paul T-Shirts, Audit the Fed signs, and let's show NYS that freedom is alive and well in NY.

I stumbled upon this contest. A local company in Troy, Belwo, is having a contest for small companies/local businesses that reside within a 60 mile radius of Troy, NY zip 12180. On their (Belwo's) website, you can submit all of you business ideas and why you think your company deserves a FREE WEBSITE (I believe they create it for you and host it for a year...?).

It sounds cool and I wanted to pass on the idea to all of you. You have to go to there website for all of the rules and details. I hope this is interesting or helpful for some of you guys.
