What this Privacy Policy Covers

This policy covers how The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity, Inc., Oak Service Corporation, and affiliated entities (“Pi Kappa Alpha” hereafter) treat personal information collected and received on Pikes.org and through our email and texting services. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable, like your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available. Your personal information is requested when you join our organization, update your record in our database, make donations, complete forms or surveys, make payments, insurance or event fees, or request information. Sometimes you may provide information to our vendors in which case the information will be protected in accordance with their privacy policies.

This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Pi Kappa Alpha does not control or to people that Pi Kappa Alpha does not employ or manage.

Information Collection and Use

Pi Kappa Alpha may combine information about you with information obtained from business partners or other companies. This information includes business and personal contact information, such as your first and last name, email and mailing addresses, phone number, and professional title and company name.

Pi Kappa Alpha automatically receives and records information on server logs from your browser, including your IP address, cookie information, and the page you request. Pi Kappa Alpha may use the information for the following general purposes: to customize the content you see, fulfill your registration requests, contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients.

The purpose of us using this software is to understand our website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that we can continually improve our website and business. The lawful basis as per the GDPR is “f); where our legitimate interests are to improve our website and business continually.” As per the explanation, no personal data is stored over time.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Pi Kappa Alpha does not rent, sell or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated entities except to provide products or services you’ve requested, or when we have your permission. We may provide the information to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with Pi Kappa Alpha under confidentiality agreements. These companies do not have any independent right to share this information. We believe it is

necessary to share information to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to any person’s physical safety, or as otherwise required by law.

Pi Kappa Alpha will not sell your phone number or the phone number of your users. We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing you with the services of that campaign. We may share your personal data, including your SMS opt-in or consent status, with third parties that help us provide our messaging services, including but not limited to platform providers, phone companies, and any other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.

Cookies

Pi Kappa Alpha may set and access cookies on your computer. Other companies’ use of their cookies is subject to their own privacy policies. Advertisers or other companies do not have access to Pi Kappa Alpha’s cookies. Pi Kappa Alpha does not use web beacons to access pikes.org cookies inside and outside our network of websites.

Communication methods and preferences

We reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to Pi Kappa Alpha, such as administrative messages and newsletters.

Email

As a membership organization, members are automatically opted in to receive email communications from us as part of their membership benefits. You may update your email preferences, controlling the types of email content you receive or unsubscribing from email communications, through the unsubscribe link at the bottom of PIKE emails.

texting

As a membership organization, members opt-in to receive text messages from us upon accessing the myPIKE Portal, as part of their membership benefits. These text messages may include updates and important information about our organization. However, if a member no longer wishes to receive these text messages, they may opt-out at any time by replying to the text message with the word “STOP” or emailing info@pikes.org. Upon receiving the STOP request, the member is automatically opted out of future text communications. You may continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing text messages from other phone numbers managed by Pi Kappa Alpha, and you may opt out of those in a similar fashion.

Please note that opting out of our texting program may result in missing out on important updates and information. We encourage members to regularly check their email and other communication channels to stay informed about the latest news and events from our organization.

Confidentiality and Security

We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to contact with that information to provide products or services to you or do their jobs. We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal information about you. Pi Kappa Alpha may update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in how we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your Pi Kappa Alpha account or by placing a prominent notice on our site.

SMS Terms of service

  1. When opted-in, you will receive text messages from Pi Kappa Alpha related to your membership in the organization.
  2. You can opt-out of this service at any time. Just text “STOP” to the phone number. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
  3. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at info@pikes.org.
  4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive messages as needed to inform and/or assist you as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
