My favorite tree
One of my favorite things about beech trees (besides the spiky little triangular-prism nuts) is the way you can find faces on the trunks.

this tree is located in an open field to the East of the Grove. the tract in which it is located is slated for development and all the site plans I've seen show the spot where it stands as cleared and built upon.

its best hope is for the housing sector to remain in the tank, but even that will provide only a temporary stay of execution. even so, a short term is better than none and we will continue to appreciate it for however long it may remain.



an overcast day with intermittent rain is not normally preferred for gathering images. nonetheless today was not lacking in opportunity.

these leaves are submerged in a birdbath whose surface, rippled by arriving raindrops, reflects wet branches and grey skies overhead.
