(no subject)

Hi there, I have two 8 week old puppies, and they have had their first shots and vet check. I am currently looking for a good vet to take them to regularly to finish up their puppy shots and also to have in case of anything that comes up.

Do you all recommend anyone that's in Tempe/Chandler area? also any places that are cheaper or offer coupons or have cheaper shot clinics, etc? Also do any of you know of any good places to get cheaper stuff for dogs (like baby gates, crates, etc) because Petsmart seems to be super super expensive.

any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Counter Culture in the News!!!

Many thanks to Jose Gonzalez and the rest of the staff at Phoenix New Times for the following, well composed piece on Counter Culture's efforts to reopen on Mill Avenue.

Phoenix New Times: Chow Bella: Counter Culture Cafe Returns with a Tempe Twist

...hopefully this helps us attract the start-up capital we need to push this out of the realm of "strong possibility" and into that of "definite reality."

Counter Culture on Mill

There is a very real possibility that Counter Culture will be reopening in the near future. This time on Mill Avenue in a 6100 square feet location with a full kitchen. We will also be a full venue with a real stage and sound system, a bar and a retail location specializing in locally produced art music and fashion. It's time for us freaks to take back Mill! Think positive thoughts, help us generate some buzz and spread the good word!

ps: We have an amazing opportunity here and are currently negotiating free rent for our first year, but we need help: partners, sponsors and investors. Even small amounts of capital will help, and while there is no such thing as a risk-free investment, free rent for a year, complete commercial kitchen, in between a large parking garage and the MADCAP Theaters, at the base of two (currently under construction) condo towers and walking distance from the nation's largest public research university (asu) makes this a no-brainer! please spread the word and contact andres.yuhnke@gmail.com with any interest. thanks!

Valley cat help

Hi guys! I hope this is an appropriate post and I hope people still read this list!

I brought home a sick cat last night from behind the bar that I work out. She seems to have an eye infection, and she DEFINITELY has a respiratory infection, as I can hear her breathing. Thing is, I'm working one day a week right now and do not have the money to take her to a regular vet, especially because I know she will need medicine and perhaps blood work.

I have two other cats at home, one being her daughter, and I don't want to expose them to anything. Right now, Gracie, the stray, is in a litle carrier in her own room. I make sure to wash my hands everytime I touch her. Does anyone know what to look out for? I have heard she coud bring distemper to the other cats, and I don't want to make them sick.

I feel so bad for her though. I know I can't do much money-wise, but I figured having a safe place to stay with food and water is better than living out in the sun behind the bar. Does anyone know of any rescue groups that give free or super cheap antibiotics? She seems to be so weak, she doesn't even have the energy to be visibly scared. She is ok with humans, as some coworkers and I have fed the cats behind the bar fr over a year, so they are semi used to humans.

I just her to get a check up asap, and any cheap meds would be helpful. Does anyone want a super sweet, loving cat that just needs some attention? She was the mother to all of the other cats behind the bar, and doesn't have that stray mentality. I just want to help her out, but my resources are limited at the time. Anything will help. Thank you!

Veg only coffee house in Tempe!

Hi all! (If anyone still reads the posts in this community, haha)

I just wanted to tell you about this cool little coffee house I found in Tempe today. I just happened upon it as I was fliering for a local music event, and once I saw the menu I was so excited. It's called 3 Roots Coffee and is located at: 1020 S. Mill Ave. Tempe, AZ 85281, directly across the street from the ASU fine art museum. Their hours are MON-FRI 7 am-11 pm and SAT-SUN 9 am-11 pm.

From my brief look at their menu, I saw all kinds of apps like hummus and pitas, etc. PLUS they have huge salads with vegan dressing, vegan hot dogs, and ...vegan mac n' cheese! I've never seen vegan mac n' cheese sold at any restaurant around here, so I was pretty excited about that. Anyway, I'll definitely be going back when I'm not on the job, and thought some of you may be interested. I must've passed by it like 300 times, and had no clue. It's kinda small, so keep your eyes peeled. If you hit Chipotle, you've gone too far. (West side of Mill, south of University) If any of you go, please let me know how it is!
