Numerous studies have shed some light on the importance of associated factors of collaborative attitudes. However, most previous studies aimed to explore the influence of these factors in isolation. With the strategy of data-driven decision making, the current study applied two data mining methods to elucidate the most significant factors of students' attitudes toward collaboration and group students to draw a concise model, which is beneficial for educators to focus on key factors and make effective interventions at a lower cost. (...) Structural equation model trees and structural equation model forests were applied to the Program for International Student Assessment 2015 dataset. By establishing the most important predictors and the splitting rules, these methods constructed multigroup common factor models of collaborative attitudes. The SEM trees showed that home educational resources, home possessions, mother's education, and gender were the most important predictors among the demographic variables, drawing a 5-group model. Among all the predictors, achievement motivation and sense of belonging at school were the most important, drawing a 6-group model. The SEM forest findings proved the relative importance of these variables. This paper discusses various interpretations of these results and their implications for educators to formulate corresponding interventions. Methodologically, this research provides a data mining approach to discover important information from large-scale educational data, which might be a complementary approach to enhance data-driven decision making in education. Previous research on consumers’ willingness to choose a green hotel has yielded mixed results, with some studies indicating a positive relationship with the hotel’s CSR initiatives, while others suggesting that there is no booking advantage for hotels going green. The present research seeks to understand the social nature of green hotel booking decisions and proposes a conceptual framework elucidating three primary factors that underlie consumers’ propensity to choose a green hotel. The study findings indicate that, importantly, a consumer’s social relationship (...) situation with other consumers, self-affirmation, and the option popularity jointly influence consumers’ willingness to choose a green hotel. Both the fast and frugal heuristics and the naturalistic decision making research programmes have identified important areas of inquiry previously neglected in the traditional study of human judgment and decision making, and have greatly contributed to the understanding of people's real-world decision making under environmental constraints. The two programmes share similar theoretical arguments regarding the rationality, optimality, and role of experience in decision making. Their commonalities have made them appealing to each other, and efforts have been made, by their leading (...) academics, to promote synergy and integration. However, there has been little progress towards this during the last decade. This paper seeks to address this gap by seeking to better understand their commonalities and differences. To do so, literature relating to the two programmes is reviewed. The findings of the review indicated that an integration of the two could enhance FFHs' field research in applied settings, facilitate its investigation on boundary conditions of people's decision strategy selection, enable NDM to embrace emerging research opportunities in the age of big data, as well as permit each programme to enlighten the research topics and to validate the research findings of the other. This paper aims to verify the effects of work–family conflict and work–family facilitation on employee innovation in the digital era. Based on resource conservation theory, this study regards the work–family relationship as a conditional resource. Employees who are in a state of lack of resources caused by work–family conflict will maintain existing resources by avoiding the consumption of further resources to perform innovation activities; employees who are in a state of sufficient resources are more willing to invest existing resources to (...) obtain more resources. In this study, 405 employees from enterprises in the Chinese provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Sichuan, and Guangdong, and in the municipality of Tianjin were selected as the research object. These enterprises are knowledge-based companies, and their employees frequently transfer knowledge at work. We collected questionnaires from the frontline employees of these companies. The results show that negative and positive emotions mediate the effect of work–family conflict and work–family facilitation on employee innovation. Moreover, work flexibility has a significant moderating effect on the mediating role of emotions between work–family facilitation and employee innovation behavior. In the digital era, when facing different work–family situations, employees need to pay attention to and dredge their negative emotions to avoid reducing their innovative behaviors due to self-abandonment; in parallel, they need to guide their positive emotions toward innovation, so as to promote their innovative consciousness and behavior. In hemodialysis, patients navigate ethical tensions arising from the intersection of clinical demands, personal values, and systemic constraints. While existing research has focused largely on clinician perspectives, limited attention has been paid to how patients themselves experience and interpret these ethical dilemmas. This study aims to identify and analyze the ethical dilemmas experienced by hemodialysis patients, and to construct a multi-level conceptual model that articulates how these ethical issues manifest across different systemic dimensions. This study employed a qualitative descriptive design. (...) 35 hemodialysis patients were purposely selected from four traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in Shandong Province, China. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews between September and December 2025 and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The framework of Ecological Systems Theory was applied to determine how multilevel systemic interactions give rise to ethical dilemmas, leading to the construction of a multidimensional conceptual model. Ethical dilemmas experienced by hemodialysis patients were grouped into three themes with 12 subthemes and 19 subcategories. A multi-systemic ethical dilemma model was developed, encompassing macro-level dilemmas involving policy, organization, culture, and community dimensions; mezzo-level interactions among healthcare providers, family members, and other patients; and micro-level individual struggles. Furthermore, we illustrate how dilemmas at one level can directly generate, or indirectly exacerbate dilemmas at other levels through dynamic interplay. This study introduces a multi-systemic ethical dilemma model grounded in patients’ experiences, revealing how ethical challenges in hemodialysis operate across macro, mezzo, and micro levels of the care ecosystem. By reframing dilemmas as embedded rather than isolated, the model underscores the need for systemic solutions that address structural and policy-level factors alongside individual support. These findings call for holistic approaches in research, practice, and policy to foster ethically sustainable environments for patients. (shrink)

A major controversy in the study of the "Analects" has been over the relation between two central concepts, ren (humanity, human excellence) and li (rites, rituals of propriety). Confucius seems to have said inconsistent things about this relation. Some passages appear to suggest that ren is more fundamental than li, while others seem to imply the contrary. It is therefore not surprising that there have been different interpretations and characterizations of this relation. Using the analogy of language grammar and mastery (...) of a language, it is proposed here that we should understand li as a cultural grammar and ren as the mastery of a culture. In this account, society cultivates its members through li toward the goal of ren, and persons of ren manifest their human excellence through their practice of li. (shrink)

Professor Li Bocong's philosophical works embody Chinese society's intellectual reflection on its technological, economic and social modernisation. Drawing on classical Chinese philosophy, the Chinese interpretation of Marxism and dialogue with other Western philosophical traditions, he has formulated a research programme in the philosophy of engineering and stimulated the emergence of an independent national school of thought. In the past decades, generations of Chinese philosophers and social scientists have further developed his approach and understanding of engineering as a special field of (...) human practice that is of central importance to today's societies.
