Traditionally, the exploration of the impact of trauma on trauma survivors in South Africa has been focused mainly on the bio-psychosocial aspects. The bio-psychosocial approach recognises that trauma affects people biologically, socially and psychologically. In this article, the author explores a holistic understanding of the effects of trauma on people from communities historically affected by political violence in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Using a participatory action research design as a way of working through trauma, a longitudinal study was conducted in Pietermaritzburg (...) from 2009-2013. At the end of the study, life narratives were documented and published. The textual analysis of these life narratives reveals that, besides the bio-psychosocial effects that research participants experienced during and after the trauma, they also sustained moral and spiritual injuries. Trauma took its toll in their lives emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, morally and in their relationships with themselves, others and God. From these findings, the author argues that the bio-psychosocial approach is incomplete for understanding the holistic effects of trauma on the whole person. Therefore, he recommends the integration of the moral and spiritual aspects of trauma to come up with a holistic model of understanding the effects of trauma on traumatised individuals. The holistic model will enhance the treatment, healing and recovery of trauma survivors. This, in turn, will alleviate the severe disruption of many aspects of psychological functioning and well-being of trauma survivors caused by the effects of trauma. (shrink)

Institutions of higher learning have continued to record high cases of gender-based violence (GBV) despite all efforts put in place to fight the vice. The most common forms of GBV are physical, sexual assault and psychological violence. Women and girls make up the majority of the GBV victims worldwide. For many years, institutions of higher learning have proved to be fertile environments for GBV cases. The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of GBV on the well-being of students (...) in institutions of higher learning in Zambia. The study employed a mixed research methodology, and it was anchored on pragmatic philosophical paradigm. An explorative study design was used. Data were collected using both probabilistic and non-probabilistic methods, and the sample size was 150 respondents. The main findings of the study showed both academic and non-academic effects of GBV on students and included stigma, low academic performance, mental and psychological trauma as well as high drop outs. Contribution: The study highlighted effects of GBV as being both academic and non-academic in nature. Once students and staff ignore the word of God spoken in scriptures and begin to follow their egos, the consequences are devastating. For scriptures says love one another, forgive each other and bear each other’s burdens in love. Do unto others as you would want then to do unto you. For where there is love, no one will desire to hurt others. Where there is no love of God or forgiveness, there is pain and damage that can spoil someone’s future, especially that of the youth. This study uses the Locke and Okali gender analysis framework to explore gender relations surrounding grain storage management and marketing in Binga District of Zimbabwe. The study was conducted during one grain storage season and involved multiple visits to selected households, which were used as case studies. The main question that the study sought to address was: “What bargaining goes on between men and women in the area of stored grain management and marketing?” Data were collected from four households, fitting (...) into the following categories: simple monogamous, complex monogamous (two scenarios), and polygamous. Participatory rural appraisal tools and techniques were extensively used and formed the backdrop of all the data collection. The study established that much bargaining and strategizing occurs within the household in order for women to exercise control over the use of stored grain. The bargaining process was found to be a complex one of give-and-take without an immediately recognizable winner. There is evidence that women use this bargaining power to exert influence on their relative position in the household in terms of independent income generation and management, seniority, and overall household food security policies. While bargaining between and within gender remains shrouded in subtleness, individuals in a household consciously use their skills to manipulate the situation to their best advantage. This article is expected to initiate broader debate in the area of gender roles and bargaining in grain post-harvest management, an area often kept private by smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. Health professionals increasingly face patients with complex health problems and this pressurizes them to cooperate. The authors have analyzed how the complexity of health care problems relates to two types of cooperation: consultation and multidisciplinary teamwork (MTW). Moreover, they have analyzed the impact of these two types of cooperation on perceived professional autonomy. Two teams were studied, one team dealing with geriatric patients and another treating oncology patients. The authors conducted semi-structured interviews, studied written documents, held informal discussions and observed (...) the teams at work. Consultation was most likely to take place when a patient had multiple problems. However, if these problems were interrelated, i.e. the solution for one problem interfered with solving another, then MTW was favored. The same was true when the available information was equivocal such that there were conflicting interpretations of a problem. How the professionals perceived the relationship between complexity and the need to cooperate depended on their expertise, their occupational background, and their work orientation. Consultation did not affect the professional autonomy of the health care professionals. MTW however did decrease the perceived level of professional autonomy. The extent to which this occurred seemed to depend on the quality of the interpersonal relations within the team. The findings can help in selecting the most appropriate and efficient type of cooperation based on the complexity of a patient’s problems. They can also help team leaders to stimulate reflection and feedback processes, and medical trainers to develop competencies among students related to such teamwork behaviors. (shrink)

Glucocorticoids are understood to represent useful biomarkers of stress and can be measured in saliva, hair, and breastmilk. The collection of such biosamples is increasingly included in biobank and cohort studies. While collection is considered “non-invasive” by biomedical researchers (compared to sampling blood), community perspectives may differ. This cross-sectional, qualitative study utilising eight focus groups aimed to determine the feasibility and acceptability of collecting ostensibly “non-invasive” biological samples in Malawi. Breastfeeding women, couples, field workers, and healthcare providers were purposively sampled. (...) Data about prior understandings of, barriers to, and feasibility of “non-invasive” biosampling were analysed. Participants described biomaterials intended for “non-invasive” collection as sometimes highly sensitive, with sampling procedures raising community concerns. Sampling methods framed as physically “non-invasive” within biomedicine can consequently be considered socially “invasive” by prospective sample donors. Biomedical and community framings of “invasiveness’ can therefore diverge, and the former must respond to and be informed by the perspectives of the latter. Further, considerations of collection procedures are shaped by therapeutic misconceptions about the immediate health-related utility of biomedical and public health research. When researchers engage with communities about biosampling, they must ensure they are not furthering therapeutic misconceptions and actively seek to dispel these. (shrink)

BackgroundThere is growing interest in the collection, storage and reuse of biological samples for future research. Storage and future use of biological samples raise ethical concerns and questions about approaches that safeguard the interests of participants. The situation is further complicated in Africa where there is a general lack of governing ethical frameworks that could guide the research community on appropriate approaches for sample storage and use. Furthermore, there is limited empirical data to guide development of such frameworks. A qualitative (...) study to address this gap was conducted with key stakeholders in Malawi to understand their experiences and perspectives regarding storage and usage of samples for future research.MethodsThis study conducted 13 in-depth interviews with ethics committee members, regulators and researchers, and five focus group discussions with community representatives and clinical trial participants in Malawi. Interviews and focus group discussions were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and thematically analysed.ResultsOn the current regulatory guidelines that governs the collection, storage and reuse of samples in Malawi, participants highlighted their different understanding of it, with some indicating that it prohibited the reuse and sharing of samples, while others believed it permitted.Views on the informed consent model used in Malawi, some stakeholders expressed that the current model limited options for sample contributors regarding future use. Researchers supported storing samples for future use in order to maximize their value and reduce research costs. However, they expressed concern over the exportation of samples highlighting that it could lead to misuse and would not support the development of research capacity within Malawi. They recommended use of broad consent or tiered consent and establishment of biobanks to address these concerns.ConclusionsStudy findings highlighted the need for a review of the current regulatory guideline and the development of infrastructure to support the use of stored biological samples for future use among the research community in Malawi. At the moment, there are ethical and practical concerns arising from the collection, storage and secondary use of biological samples make it hard to reconcile scientific progress and the protection of participants. Purpose Current literature seldom discusses the functions and duties of individuals participating in medical research and the importance they attribute to their research involvement. To fill this void, our study investigated participants’ perceptions of their roles and responsibilities in the research context and compared these perceptions with those of research staff. Methods A cross-section qualitative study with 21 semi-structured interviews with participants purposefully selected from clinical and non-clinical trials, and research staff. We also conducted two focus group discussions: one with (...) participants from clinical trials and one from non-clinical trials. We analysed data using thematic analysis methods. Results The responsibilities of research participants are understood differently between research participants and research staff. Two broad themes emerged from the findings: relational responsibilities of research participants and functional responsibilities of participants. Conclusion There are differences in perceived responsibilities between researchers and participants, and this disconnect needs to be recognised. Researchers should focus on how best to communicate responsibilities to enhance awareness and achieve mutual understanding. (shrink)

The environment can elicit biological responses such as oxidative stress (OS) and inflammation as a consequence of chemical, physical, or psychological changes. As population studies are essential for establishing these environment-organism interactions, biomarkers of OS or inflammation are critical in formulating mechanistic hypotheses. By using examples of stress induced by various mechanisms, we focus on the biomarkers that have been used to assess OS and inflammation in these conditions. We discuss the difference between biomarkers that are the result of a (...) chemical reaction (such as lipid peroxides or oxidized proteins that are a result of the reaction of molecules with reactive oxygen species) and those that represent the biological response to stress, such as the transcription factor NRF2 or inflammation and inflammatory cytokines. The high-throughput and holistic approaches to biomarker discovery used extensively in large-scale molecular epidemiological exposome are also discussed in the context of human exposure to environmental stressors. We propose to consider the role of biomarkers as signs and to distinguish between signs that are just indicators of biological processes and proxies that one can interact with and modify the disease process. El presente artículo constituye la segunda parte de un estudio más amplio sobre la obediencia política en el pensamiento de santo Tomás. Como se señalaba en la introducción de la primera parte, el ámbito político representa un escenario privilegiado para analizar la verdaderaa naturaleza de la virtud de la obediencia, pues es un ámbito en el que se hace singularmente difícil reconocer, a través de la variable figura del gobernante, la voluntad de Dios sobre el hombre. Pero para poder distnguir (...) esta voluntad, y someterse inteligentemente, es preciso clarificar antes el ámbito y límites del débito de obediencia política. Esta delimitación aclara el oficio de gobierno, señala cuál es el papel que juega en la vida humana y la verdadera naturaleza del poder político: de ahí el análisis de la obediencia al poder "de hecho" y al poder injusto.Así, este problema de la obediencia, y en concreto el de la obediencia a los poderes temporales irregulares, pone de manifiesto la pregunta nuclear de la vida humana: ¿quién manda verdaderamente? Müslümanların tarihsel süreçte iman konusunda yaşadığı tartışmalardan biri de imanda taklid meselesidir. Çalışmanın temel odak noktası, klasik kelâm literatüründeki taklidî imanla ilgili görüşleri, günümüz bilimsel verileri ve öğrenme kuramları ışığında kritize etmektir. Çalışmanın temel motivasyonlarından biri, inananların büyük bir kısmının iman anlayışının taklide dayalı olmasıdır. Bu bağlamda kelâm âlimlerinin tahkiki iman için temele aldıkları nazar ve istidlâlin Tanrı'nın varlığına dair kesin bir kanıt sağlayamadığını iddia ettik. Dolayısıyla kelâm ekollerinin tahkiki iman konusunda benimsedikleri nazar ve istidlâle dayalı temellendirmenin yeterli olmadığı kanaatine (...) vardık. Bu çerçevede kelâm ekollerinin imanı bilişsel sürece indirgeyen yaklaşımlarının, modern bilimdeki ayna nöronlar ve öğrenme kuramları açısından değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini öne sürdük. İnsan fizyolojisi üzerinde temellendirilen ayna nöronlar teorisiyle taklidin basit bir eylemsel benzerlik olmadığı, aynı zamanda bilişsel bir süreci de beraberinde getirdiği çıkarımını yaptık. Bununla beraber taklidin sosyal öğrenme kuramları ile ilişkisini ele alarak bunun tahkikî iman sürecindeki işlevi üzerinde durduk. Öğrenmenin sadece gözlemlenen davranışları taklid etmekle sınırlı olmadığını, bilişsel süreçlerin de önemli bir rol oynadığına vurgu yaptık. (shrink)

Sus escuelas en rebeldía, construidas y manejadas por los pueblos indígenas de Chiapas, rechazan las lógicas estatales y neoliberales, concentrándose en saberes propios, autodeterminación y conciencia colectiva. Una alternativa comunal desobediente y descolonizante por y para los pueblos está demostrando que otros modos de construir educación son posibles cuando ésta obedece a su autogobierno local.

Yalnızca kalpte olan bir imanı yalnızca Allah bilebilir. Bir mümin için kalbin tutumu tek başına yeterli ve tasdikin diğer boyutları da gerekli değilse, o zaman iman bireysel ve kişiye özgü kalmaktadır. Bunu bir çeşit kapalı (insana açık olmaya) iman türü olarak görmek mümkündür. Bu durum ise tasdikin ihtiva ettiği açıklık ve kesinlik boyutuyla çelişir.Bununla birlikte Mâtürîdîler de imanın yalnızca kalp ile tasdik ve ahirete bakan yönüyle tanımlandığında ortaya çıkan bu riskin farkındadırlar. Ancak şu acıktır ki, onlar imanın yalnızca kalbin tasdiki olarak açıklanmasını, ahirete dönük ve teknik anlamda bir doğrulama türü olarak görürler. Mâtürîdîlerin büyük çoğunluğu, imanın insana bakan yönünü de hesaba katarlar ve bu açıdan onlar, imana kalbin tasdiki kadar dilin ikrarının da eşlik etmesi gerektiğini düşünürler. Bu durumda imanın en açık ve en şeffaf anlamına, kalb ile tasdik ve dil ile ikrar olarak tanımlandığında kavuştuğunu söylemek mümkün olacaktır. Mâtürîdîlere göre iman hem ahiret hem de dünya hayatı açısından en açık ve en kesin anlamına “kalb ile tasdik ve dil ile ikrar” olarak tanımlandığında erişir. Böyle bir anlaşım bir kapalılık barındırmaz ve herhangi bir kapalılık durumunu da reddeder. Diyebiliriz ki, Mâtürîdî düşünürler, imanın dünya hayatına bakan yönünü dikkate aldıklarında, kalbin tasdikinin ötesinde, imanın diğer boyutlarını da hesaba katarlar ve iman anlayışlarını bu açıdan inşa ederler. Kalbin tasdiki, dil ve davranış vasıtasıyla nesnel alana taşınır ve gözlemlenebilir duruma gelir. Diğer taraftan Mâtürîdîler, kalp ile tasdike dayanmayan salt bir dil ile ikrarı, imanın geçersiz bir biçimi olan nifaka özdeş görürler. En este artículo se analizan, desde la antropología social, representaciones del orden social manifestadas por el fenómeno de las mandas y exvotos en el culto a santo Domingo Vidal, santo popular patrono del municipio de Chimá (Colombia). La metodología incluyó la observación participante en el sitio del culto y la descripción del Libro de mandas en el que escriben los devotos; los escritos son vistos como textos que transmiten y reproducen formas de cultura y de organización social. Para (...) el análisis se acude a los conceptos de Religión como sistema cultural y de Religión común para enfatizar su carácter adaptativo a las circunstancias locales. Las primeras conclusiones sugieren que la relación de los devotos con el santo responde a las condiciones sociales particulares de la comunidad en la que ocurre el culto y que esas prácticas las reproducen y mantienen. In Speculating Daguerre, Stephen C. Pinson reinterprets the story of the man and his time, painting a vivid picture (...) of Daguerre as an innovative artist and savvy impresario whose eventual fame as a photographer eclipsed everything that had come before. Drawing upon previously unpublished correspondence and unplumbed archival sources, Pinson mixes biography with an incisive study of Daguerre's wide-ranging involvement in visual culture. From his work as a commercial lithographer to his coinvention of the Paris Diorama—a theater in the round in which Daguerre employed natural light and special effects to simulate time and movement in large-scale paintings—here we are given access to Daguerre the artist, whose tireless experimentation, entrepreneurial spirit, and exceptional talent for popular spectacle helped to usher in a new visual age. David Hume’un Doğal Din Üzerine Diyaloglar kitabı, başlığının da ima ettiği gibi, vahiy metinlerine başvurmadan Tanrı’nın varlığına ve niteliklerine ulaşılıp ulaşılamayacağını araştıran bir metindir. Metin boyunca, felsefe tarihinde de gördüğümüz, iki ana yaklaşımı temsil eden iki temel argüman sunulur. Bunlardan ilki, a priori yaklaşımı temsil eden kozmolojik argümandır. Diğeri ise, a posteriori yaklaşımı temsi eden zeki tasarım argümanıdır. Bu yazıda, Hume’un, diyalogdaki Philo karakteri üzerinden ortaya koyduğu, kozmolojik argümana yönelik eleştirileri ele alınıp, böyle bir argümanın neden Tanrı’nın varlığı ve nitelikleri (...) konusunda bizi bir sonuca ulaştırmayacağı ortaya konmuştur. The Zaydī-Muʿtazilī interaction, which dates back to the early periods, increased when The Būyid vizier al-Ṣāḥib b. ʿAbbād invited Qāḍī ʿAbd al-Jabbār to Rayy and many Caspian Zaydī scholars studied with Qāḍī. Ibn Sharwīn, who is mentioned among the students of Qāḍī ʿAbd al-Jabbār and accepted as one of the Zaydī- Muʿtazilī scholars, is one of these names. The works of Ibn Sharwīn, who had writings in the field of kalām and fiqh, did not remain within the borders of the (...) Caspian and reached the Zaydīs of Yemen; one of these works is Ḥaqāʾiq al-ashyāʾ. Considering that, unlike other theological schools, there are not many works on the definitions of theological concepts in Muʿtazilī literature and -as far as is known- did not reach today, this treatise helps to understand better especially the terms in Zaydī- Muʿtazilī theology and the effects of Bahshamiyya on Zaydī thought. This work, edited and translated based on the only extant manuscript only manuscript found in Yemen and a previous publication, on the one hand, is important in understanding the point of view of Zaydī- Muʿtazilī thought on the disciplines of theology, jurisprudence, debate, history of Islamic sects, on the other hand, it is a helpful resource for understanding the terms used in the theory of aḥwāl, which is still an intricate issue. Ibn Sharwīn in his Ḥaqāʾiq al-ashyāʾ; explains over 150 terms in relation to cosmology such as substance, accident, line, surface, space; to ontology such as existing, non-existence, originated (muḥdath); to epistemology such as knowledge, creed, ignorance, doubt, skepticism, obligatory and acquired knowledge; to methodology such as evidence, madlūl, debate, and disputation; to fiqh such as sunnah, farḍ, mandūb, cause, command-prohibition, general-particular (ʿumūm-ḫuṣūṣ); to the history of sects such as ʿadliyya, compulsionists (mujbira) and qadarī; to divinity such as the oneness of God (tawhīd); to justice such as promise and threat (al-waʿd wa-l-waʿīd), good and evil, necessary and acquired, grace, compensation, repentance, major and minor sins; to the theory of al-aḥwāl such as attribute of the essence, determinant (muḳtaḍī), entail (muḳtaḍā), muṣaḥḥiḥ, cause. Describing ḥadd that corresponds to “definition” and ḥaḳīḳat that he used together with it as collectively exhaustive, mutually exclusive, Ibn Sharwīn defines knowledge, power, living (ḥayy), speech (kalām), speaker (mutakallim), permanent (bāqī) etc. in a way that is true for both God and human beings. While making these definitions, he draws on poems, linguistic usages and verses and divides the nouns into three parts at the end of his work, namely linguistic, religious and conventional (sharʿī and waḍʿī); in particular, he gives detailed information about metaphors and parts of truth. De acuerdo con esta fórmula, la moral se desarrolla cuando los hombres empiezan a comportarse de acuerdo con el contenido no explícito de las leyes de naturaleza, comportamiento posibilitado por su sujeción a un hombre fuerte, quien tiene la función moral de administrar justicia. Esta doble función moral de las leyes de (...) naturaleza entre quien manda y quien obedece implica una experiencia de la justicia como comunicación de postulados racionales compartidos que condicionan el libre accionar de los hombres, manteniéndolos unidos en el tiempo.In the Leviathan, Hobbes employs the law of nature as the condition of possibility of the epistemological development that transforms the animal into a human in the state of nature. According to this formula, morality develops when men behave according to the non-explicit content of the laws of nature, behavior enabled by their subjection to a strong man who has the moral function of administrating justice. The moral function of the laws of nature is double, those who rule and those who obey, and implies an experience of justice as communication of shared rational postulates that conditions the free actions of men, keeping them united in time. Este artículo trata sobre la teología de la Ley Nueva o evangélica, verdadero corazón y punto de inspiración del conjunto de la moral tomasiana. El valor justifi cante de la Ley Nueva que consiste en su contenido de gracia, la distingue radicalmente tanto de la Ley Antigua y de la ley natural como de cualquier tipo de ley humana. En sólo tres cuestiones que se cuentan entre las más bellas de la Suma Teológica, Tomás perfi la las leyes fundamentales de (...) la libertad cristiana. El núcleo central de la nueva ley, su elemento regulante, no es legal: es el don del Espíritu que hace nuevo el corazón, un evento de fe gratuito e iluminante que inclina el afecto al bien pleno y total revelado en la persona de Cristo, máximo sabio y amigo. En sus elementos secundarios, la Ley Nueva tan sólo manda o prohíbe lo que a la gracia nos lleva o lo que necesariamente pertenece al buen uso de la gracia. La ley evangélica es una ley de virtudes y de dones, en presencia de los cuales los preceptos pasan a ser instrumentos y servidores. Una renovación de la moral católica bien pude inspirarse en la jerarquía de las verdades y la audacia teologal que Tomás despliega en este pequeño tratado. (shrink)

Questo studio argomenta che Gv 13,1-38 è unità letteraria, composta di tre sezioni principali: la lavanda dei piedi (vv. 1-17), la dichiarazione centrale (vv. 19-20) ed il dono del boccone (vv. 21-38). Il suo significato è determinato dall’amore di Gesù per i suoi “sino alla fine” (v. 1: eis telos). La lavanda dei piedi ed il dono del boccone presuppone la vita sacramentale della comunità post-pasquale. La caratteristica della narrazione è il dono di sé con amore incondizionato ad un traditore (...) (Giuda, vv. 2, 10b-11, 18, 21-31a), ad uno che lo rinnega (Pietro, vv. 36-38), ed a coloro che non comprendono (tutti i discepoli, vv. 6-10a, 22, 28). Nei vv. 18 e 20 Gesù spiega ch’egli sceglie e manda discepoli fragili. Egli spiega che quando ha dato se stesso per amore “sino alla fine” (eis telos), essi possono arrivare a credere ch’egli è la presenza del divino (v. 19: ego eimi). Questo è il suo esempio (v. 15) ed il suo comandamento: amare come egli ha amato (vv. 34-35): eis telos (“sino alla fine”). (shrink)

İnsanlar anlatmak istediklerini farklı biçimlerde karşıdakine iletirler. İç dünyalarında var olanları aktarırken düşünceleri ve hisleri kelimelere dökülür, cümlelerde ete kemiğe bürünür. İnsan bazen olanı, düşündüklerini dolaysız olarak direkt anlatır bazen de teşbihin, istiarenin, sembollerin, metaforların arkasına sığınarak dile getirir. Bu hislerini simgelerle anlatmak isteyişinin, gizemin puslu dünyasında gezinmesinin farklı sebepleri olabilir. İnsan var oldukça kendisini ifade etmekten kaçınamaz. Bu ihtiyaç edebiyat dünyasında yazarın da kaçınamayacağı bir gerçekliktir. Yazın var oldukça sembolik anlatımda mutlaka var olmayı sürdürecektir. Şiirde, hikâyede, romanda, diğer edebi (...) türlerde yazar bazen edebî kaygılarla bazen de içinde yaşadığı toplumun gereklilikleriyle bazen siyasi baskılarla semboller, metaforlara gereksinim duyacaktır. 1948 yılında Filistin halkının yaşadığı Nekbe yani Büyük Felaket’in öncesinde ve sonrasında yaşananlar Filistin halkında büyük yaralar açmıştır. İngilizlerin manda yönetimi dönemindeki haksızlıklarına, Yahudi çetelerin terör eylemlerine, İngilizlerin desteğiyle Siyonistlerin topraklarını ele geçirme çabalarına; ayrıca Nekbe’den sonra topaklarından sürülüşlerine karşı Filistinliler silahlı mücadeleye başlamışlardır. Silahlı mücadele ile birlikte edebiyat alanında da mücadele etmenin önemini fark ederek bu alanda faaliyete başlamışlardır. Çünkü yaşananları yazı ile kayıt altına almak; Filistinli kimliğini koruyabilmenin, mücadele ruhunu diri tutabilmenin yegâne yolu olarak görünmektedir. Bunun farkında olan Nekbe öncesi İbrahim Tukan, Abdürrahim Mahmûd, Ebû Selmâ gibi yazarlar, sonrasında ise Gassân Kenefânî, Ali Fûde, Nuh İbrahim, Naci Ali, Seyfuddin el-Îrânî, Semira Azzâm, Mahmud Derviş gibi yazarlar Siyonizm’in karşısına dikilip kalemleriyle mücadele etmiştir. Bu edebî mücadeleyi Gassân Kenefânî, Direniş Edebiyatı (أدب المقاومة) diye isimlendirmiştir. O, kitaplarında silahlı mücadelenin yanında kalemle mücadelenin önemine dikkat çekmiştir. Kenefânî, Siyonistlerin silahla ele geçirmeye çalıştıkları Filistin topraklarını konu edinmenin yanı sıra edebiyat, medya yoluyla hakikatleri çarpıtma, Filistinlileri köksüzleştirme, cahil bırakma çabalarına dikkat çekerek bunun karşısında yapılacak bütün faaliyetlere “Direniş Edebiyatı” demiştir. Filistin’de yaşanan süreçleri ifade için Nekbe Edebiyatı (أدب النكبة), Diaspora Edebiyatı (أدب الشتات), Sürgün Edebiyatı (أدب المهجر), Dönüş Edebiyatı (أدب العودة) gibi farklı kavramlar da kullanılmıştır.Nekbe öncesi verilen eserlerde işlenen konular düşmana karşı direniş, mücadele azmi, İngilizlerin istibdadı, Siyonist çetelerin zulmü, hileleri, halkın çektiği acılar, Nekbe sonrasında ise işlenen katliamlar, topraklarının farklı desiselerle gasp edilişi, evlerinden sürülüşleri, gurbet, elden çıkan varlıklar, mültecilerin trajedileri, İslam ülkelerinin kendilerini yalnız bırakmalarının yüreklerinde açtığı yaralar, vatana dönüş ümitleri ve bunun hakları olduğuna olan inançları olmuştur. Filistinli yazarlar eserlerinde Bağdat ve Kurtuba gibi şehirlere, Hz. Ömer, Târık b. Ziyâd gibi tarihi şahsiyetlere, nehir, deniz, Yafa portakalı, anne, sevgili, çadır, ev, kapı, anahtar, karpuz, köprü gibi imgelere metafor olarak başvurmuşlardır. Nekbe öncesi ve sonrasında Filistinli yazarların eserlerinde işledikleri konular bu ve buna benzer sembollere anlatılmıştır.Bütün bu semboller içerisinde anahtar, Filistinliler için önemli sembollerden biri olmuştur. Nekbe’den sonra yerlerinden edilmiş, sürgünde yaşayanlar için “anahtar” simgesi çok büyük anlam ifade etmektedir. Birçok aile yurtlarına dönüşün ifadesi olan anahtarlarını ya bir sandıkta muhafaza etmiş ya da kadınlar onu bir gerdanlık gibi boyunlarında taşımıştır. Anahtarlarını takacakları bir ev, bir kapı kalmasa da anahtarların yanlarında oluşu, ona dokunup hissetmeleri geri dönüş hayallerini diri tutan önemli bir dayanak ve direnç kaynağıdır. Çünkü bu anahtar kimliğini kaybetmemenin ve topraklarına bağlılığın sembolüdür. Filistinli yazarların yazdığı şiirlerde, hikâyelerde, romanlarda, diğer edebi eserlerde anahtar bazen bir sancak olmuştur. Bazen de vatanın simgesi olan anahtar, hakikati düşmanın gözüne sokarcasına gözüne saplanan bir silaha dönüşmüştür. Kimi zaman ise vatan hasretiyle yanan göğsü süsleyen, dinginleştiren bir gerdanlığa dönüşmüştür. Anahtar Filistin Edebiyatı’nda maddi bir eşya olmaktan çıkarak özgürlüğün, izzetin, vatanın, mücadelenin, kimliğin, aşkın kendisi olmuştur. (shrink)

Sunnah is the second main source for Islamic law following the Qur’ān. Sunnah in the books on the Methodology of Islamic Law (Usūl al-fiqh) is examined in two main parts, one of which is as the source for religious commands and the other is being as religious/taklīfī commands. Sunnah is divided into three categories in terms of being the source for Islamic commands: qawlī (verbal), fi‘ilī (behavioral) and taqrīrī (approval). In the Islamic literature, when the word “sunnah” is mentioned, first (...) of all, it is understood as a verbal appeal, which is qawlī sunnah (hadith). Verbal sunnah has a rhetoric/wording that includes demand (amr/order-nahy/prohibition) or freedom (mubāḥ). And ultimately to the wording of this verbal address, some religious commands, such as farḍ/wājib, sunnah/mandūb, and permissible/mubāḥ are attributed. The behavioral sunnah (the acts of the Prophet Muḥammad), on the other hand, does not have a rhetoric that includes demand (amr/order-nahy/prohibition) or freedom (mubāḥ). The command/judgment is based on rhetoric. In other words, if there is an address, there is a command; if there is no address, there is no command/judgment. Therefore, it is problematic that the acts of the Prophet are decreed in the form of farḍ/ wājib, sun-nah/mandūb and mubāḥ. For this reason, the acts of the Prophet in the books on the Method-ology of Islamic Law (Usūl al-fiqh) have been particularly examined under the title of Afʿāl al-Rasūl. While some of the acts of the Prophet Muḥammad have a religious character, some of them are the acts that he performed completely in accordance with the customs and traditions in the society he lived in. Therefore, not all of the Prophet’s deeds/acts (behavioral sunnah) are at the same level in terms of obligation. Therefore, while some of the acts/deeds of the Prophet express wucūb, some other mandūb (sunnah-mustaḥab) and still some other ibāhā/mubāḥ. On the other hand, the acts of the Prophet Muḥammad, in terms of being the source of religious commands, are divided into two categories: the tashrīī (religiously) qualified and non tashrīī (religiously) qualified. What is meant by a religious act is the actions of the Prophet, which he performed as being a prophet, for the purpose of worshiping and that he wanted his followers act accordingly. What is meant by a non-religious act is the behavior of the Prophet as a human being or as a requirement of the society he lived in. Sunnah, in terms of being a religious com-mand, refers to commands other than fard and wājib. Ḥanafī scholars are of the opinion that sunnah as a religious decree is divided into two parts as sunnah-i hudā and sunnah-i zawāid. The acts of the Prophet, in accordance with his being a human or the custom of the society he lived in, are included in the scope of sunnah zawāid. In other words, sunnah zawāid generally means the actions of the Prophet that he did not do with the intention of worship. In this con-text, the acts of the Prophet Muḥammad are important. Because, the acts of the Prophet are not the same in terms of qualification (command), nor are they the same in terms of their nature (being religious or humanly natural). The acts of the Prophet Muḥammad with a religious nature are divided into two as known qualities and unknown qualifications. In principle, the religious acts of the Prophet, whose qualities are known, are also obligation for the ummah (Muslims). Therefore, when it is known for what purpose the Prophet Muḥammad made a deed/behavior, that act is accordingly is binding for the ummah (Muslims). Accordingly, if the attribute of a deed/behavior made by the Prophet is wājib/farḍ, it is also wājib for the ummah and permissible (ibāḥā) for the ummah if it is permissible. On the other hand, the acts of the Prophet in the Qur’ān as a mujmal (ambiguous nass /verse) are also subject to the command of mujmal. There is a dispute regarding the verdict of the Prophet’s acts of religious nature whose qualifications are unknown. According to the majority of Hanafī scholars, what is essential in the actions of the Prophet whose qualifications are unknown and that contain the characteris-tics of worship, is that it is mustahab/mandūb. According to Kerkhī (d. 340/952), what is es-sential in such deeds/behaviors is that it is permissible. Jassās (d.370 / 980) expresses the same opinion with Kerkhī. Opinions on this issue are conveyed from Imām Mālik and Imām Shafiī that he declared permissibility. The preferred opinion in Hanbalis is to declare permissibility. Non-religious acts of the Prophet Muḥammad as a human being or as per the custom of the society he lives in are not obligation for the ummah. Therefore, what is essential in such deeds/behaviors is that it is permissible. (shrink)

Bu çalışmada Herakleitos’un DK1 numaralı fragmanı ve filozofun felsefesinin temel kavramı olan logos terimi üzerinde inceleme yapılmıştır. Çalışmada ayrıca Herakleitos’un fragmanda kul-landığı sözcükler, kurduğu cümleler ve kullandığı üsluptan hareketle filozof olmasının yanı sıra aynı zamanda bir kâhin ya da peygamber olarak da nitelendirilebileceği iddia edilmiştir. Buna göre bu çalışma şu hususların ele alınmasından oluşmaktadır: DK1 numaralı fragmanın üç başlık altında incelenmesi suretiyle Herakleitos düşüncesinin merkezini oluşturan logos terimini anla-mak amaçlanmıştır. Logos terimini anlama noktasında sözcüğün sözlükteki anlamları üzerinde durularak ilgili fragmanda (...) sözcüğe yüklenen anlamlar tespit edilmiştir. Böylelikle Dk1 numaralı fragmanda Herakleitos’un logos sözcüğüne yüklediği temel anlamların, akıl, söz, rasyonel pren-sip, yönetici ilke türünden anlamlar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada ayrıca filozofun frag-manda kullandığı üslubun filozof olmasının yanı sıra kâhinlere veya peygamberlere özgü olduğu iddiasında bulunulmuştur. Bu iddia ise fragmanı oluşturan cümlelerin ve sözcüklerin dile getiri-lişindeki üslup ve jargondan hareketle ve rütbeli Herakleitos yorumcularının ifadeleri ile gerek-çelendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Este artículo aborda la poesía de Edith Stein a partir del tópico de la Revelación. Entendida como «la buena nueva» de la venida y la resurrección de Cristo, la Revelación se relaciona con el mandato del amor al prójimo, cuya sola posibilidad radica en el amor a Dios, pues «quiere que le amemos, cuando manda que amemos al prójimo», como explica sor Juana. Y así, se relaciona también con la mayor «fineza» de Jesús hacia a los hombres, según la carta (...) Atenagórica, que consiste en «los beneficios que nos deja de hacer» para contener nuestra ingratitud; en el amor al prójimo, la correspondencia del amor es para Él, pero la utilidad es nuestra. En la poesía de Edith Stein, la Revelación se corresponde con la revelación del lector, con lo que se consuma la representación de la mayor fineza: para el lector, y para él solo, es la utilidad de la lectura.
