Članek obravnava literarno ustvarjanje dr. Joža Lovrenčiča (1890–1952), slovenskega pesnika, pisatelja, prevajalca in klasičnega filologa. Prinaša nekatere življenjepisne informacije in na njihovi podlagi obravnava zlasti njegovo afiniteto do rimske in grške antike. S tem v zvezi se posveča njegovi mladostni povesti Med Scilo in Karibdo in epski pesnitvi Sholar iz Trente (1939). Še posebej pri slednji je najti vrsto navezav in citatov iz klasičnega sveta, hkrati pa pesnitev na več mestih s slovenščino meša latinske besede ali v latinščino celo povsem (...) preide. Te odlomke je tudi vsebinsko mogoče povezati z literarnim slogom makaronske latinščine. (shrink)

After reading Koltaj’s study with great admiration, I decided to focus in this brief afterword on a very specific topic: the challenge posed to the Christian theology by the vision (or, rather, hypothesis) of so-called Singularity. I am not dealing here with the technological feasibility of the project of Singularity (there are serious doubts about it), I just want to confront two different logics of the Fall and Redemption. Bu makale, Batı düşünce tarihinin en çalkantılı ve belirleyici dönemlerinden biri olan 15. yüzyılda, Orta Çağ’ın sonu ile Modern dönemin başlangıcı arasındaki entelektüel köprüyü inşa eden Nicolaus Cusanus’un (1401–1464) felsefi sistemini ve bu sistemin beslendiği köklü kaynakları kapsamlı bir şekilde incelemektedir. Skolastik teolojinin çözülmeye yüz tuttuğu, buna karşın Rönesans hümanizminin filizlendiği bir geçiş evresinde Cusanus ne yalnızca geleneği tekrar eden bir skolastik ne de köklerinden kopuk bir modern olarak tanımlanabilir. O, metafizik, epistemoloji ve kozmoloji alanlarında Antik mirası Hristiyan teolojisiyle harmanlayan (...) eklektik ve dönüştürücü bir düşünürdür. Bu çalışma, Cusanus’un öğrenilmiş cehalet (docta ignorantia) ve zıtların birliği (coincidentia oppositorum) gibi felsefe tarihine yön veren kavramlarını geliştirirken Antik Yunan felsefesi, Patristik gelenek, Orta Çağ skolastiği, Alman mistisizmi ve İslam-Yahudi felsefesi ile kurduğu çok katmanlı ilişkiyi analiz etmektedir. Metodolojik olarak, Cusanus’un ana metinleri üzerinden karşılaştırmalı bir literatür taraması ve kavramsal analiz yöntemi izlenmiştir. Makalenin ilk bölümü, Antik Yunan mirasının Cusanus üzerindeki belirleyici rolüne odaklanır. Cusanus, Pythagorasçı geleneği benimseyerek sayıyı ve matematiği evrenin anahtarı olarak görmüş; ancak bunu salt niceliksel bir işlemden ziyade, sonlu zihnin sonsuz Tanrı’yı kavraması için gerekli sembolik bir rehber (manuductio) olarak kullanmıştır. Platon ve Yeni Platoncu (Plotinos ve Proclus) gelenek ise onun bilgi teorisinin merkezinde yer alır. Cusanus Aristotelesçi mantığın katı kalıplarına karşı Platon’un idealar dünyasını ve sezgisel bilgisini savunmuştur. Ancak bu alım pasif bir taklit değildir; Cusanus, Proclus’un Tanrı ile evren arasındaki ilişkiyi zorunluluk (determinizm) üzerinden kuran yaklaşımını reddederek, Hristiyanlığın özgür irade ve yaratma doktriniyle uyumlu yeni bir ontoloji geliştirmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci ekseni, Hristiyan patristik geleneği ve özellikle Augustinus ile Sahte Dionysos’un (Pseudo-Dionysos) etkilerini merkeze alır. Augustinus’un hakikati dış dünyada değil, insan ruhunun derinliklerinde arayan içebakış yöntemi ve ‘öğrenilmiş cehalet’ fikri, Cusanus’ta sistematik bir yönteme dönüşür. Ancak Cusanus’un epistemolojisindeki en radikal unsur, Sahte Dionysos’tan tevarüs ettiği negatif teoloji (apofatik teoloji) anlayışıdır. Tanrı’nın hiçbir isme, kavrama veya tanıma sığdırılamayacağı, O’nun ancak ne olmadığı söylenerek bilinebileceği ilkesi, Cusanus’un sisteminin temel taşıdır. Bu yaklaşım, Tanrı’yı tanımlamaya çalışan skolastik rasyonalizme karşı bir meydan okuma niteliği taşır. Son bölümde ise Cusanus’un skolastik gelenek, mistisizm ve Doğu felsefesiyle olan karmaşık ilişkisi irdelenir. Aquinolu Thomas’ın “varlık analojisi” ve aklın doğal ışığına duyduğu güvene mesafeli duran Cusanus, rasyonel aklın çelişmezlik ilkesiyle sınırlı olduğunu savunur. Bu noktada Cusanus, parçalayıcı akıl ile birleştirici ve sezgisel akıl arasında hayati bir ayrıma gider. Aklın sınırlarının bittiği yerde, Meister Eckhart’ın mistik öğretisi devreye girer. Cusanus, Eckhart’ın panteizmle suçlanan “Tanrı her şeydir ve hiçbir şeydir” şeklindeki paradoksal dilini savunmuş; bu dili felsefi bir terminolojiye dökerek Tanrı’nın tüm zıtlıkların (maksimum ve minimumun) çakıştığı mutlak nokta olduğunu ileri sürmüştür. Ayrıca çalışma, Cusanus’un sadece Batı kaynaklarıyla sınırlı kalmadığını; İbn Sina’nın tekillik (cüz’î varlık) kavramından ve İbn Meymun’un negatif teoloji üzerine görüşlerinden de faydalanarak Tanrı’nın aşkınlığını temellendirdiğini, böylece Doğu ve Batı bilgeliğini sentezleyen evrensel bir vizyon ortaya koyduğunu vurgular. Yine bu makale, Nicolaus Cusanus’un Pythagoras’tan Eckhart’a, İbn Sina’dan Augustinus’a uzanan devasa bir entelektüel mirası nasıl sentezlediğini göstermektedir. O, bu mirası kullanarak, insanın bilme yetisinin sınırlarını çizen ama aynı zamanda insanı sonsuzluğa yönelten, modern felsefenin eşiğinde duran özgün ve kuşatıcı bir metafizik sistem inşa etmiştir. Nihayetinde bu inceleme, Cusanus’un geçmişin otoritesini reddetmeden, onu insan zihninin yaratıcı gücüyle nasıl yeniden yorumladığını ve statik Orta Çağ evren algısını nasıl dinamik bir sonsuzluk tasavvuruna dönüştürdüğünü gözler önüne sermektedir. Filozofun geliştirdiği bu yeni yöntem, hakikatin donmuş kavramlarda değil, zihnin sonsuz bir arayış sürecinde bulması gerektiğini salık vererek modern düşüncenin özne merkezli yapısına öncülük etmiştir. Çalışmanın kapsamı, Cusanus’un De Docta Ignorantia başta olmak üzere temel yapıtlarındaki kavramsal dönüşümleri, Antik Yunan’dan Alman mistisizmine kadar uzanan bir etkileşim yelpazesinde ele almakla sınırlandırılmıştır. Jam atlikti buvo naudojami keli tyrimo metodai: pusiau struktūruoti interviu, stebėjimas dalyvaujant. Remtasi P. Bourdieu kapitalo teorija, lauko ir habitus sampratomis. Šis kokybinis tyrimas – tai judėjimo negalią turinčių paauglių, socializacijos patirčių gydymo ir reabilitacinėse įstaigose, socialinio vaizdinio atspindys.

Rad prikazuje kako se enaktivizam može koristiti kao integrativni pojmovni okvir u psihijatriji. Enaktivistički pristup može pomoći u rešavanju problema integracije u psihijatriji, to jest u tome kako da smisleno povežemo različite perspektive iz kojih objašnjavamo uzroke i prirodu psihijatrijskih poremećaja. Enaktivizam nam pruža mogućnost da povežemo fenomenološke, neurofiziološke, sociokulturalne, i egzistencijalne aspekte psihijatrijskih poremećaja i holistički pristupimo razumevanju i lečenju. Objasniću šta je enaktivizam, šta je problem integracije u psihijatriji, te kako, prema Saneke de Han, možemo putem enaktivizma pružiti (...) rešenje ovog problema. Naposletku, predložiću kako se enaktivistički pristup može obogatiti dodavanjem ekološke perspektive. (shrink)

Kripke-style models with two accessibility relations, one intuitionistic and the other modal, are given for analogues of the modal systemK based on Heyting's prepositional logic. It is shown that these two relations can combine with each other in various ways. Soundness and completeness are proved for systems with only the necessity operator, or only the possibility operator, or both. Embeddings in modal systems with several modal operators, based on classical propositional logic, are also considered. This paper lays the ground for (...) an investigation of intuitionistic analogues of systems stronger thanK. A brief survey is given of the existing literature on intuitionistic modal logic. Mineva leto dni, kar se je v obnovljeni knjižnici Frančiškanskega samostana Ljubljana Center začel projekt digitalizacije starejšega rokopisnega gradiva, in javnosti je že na voljo prvih sto digitaliziranih rokopisov iz samostanske zbirke. Dostopni so v spletni čitalnici vodilne mednarodne organizacije za ohranjanje rokopisne dediščine Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML), ki ima sedež na benediktinski univerzi Saint John’s University v Minnesoti. Čeprav je organizacija HMML precej prisotna tako na območju Balkana kot srednje Evrope, gre za njihov prvi in zaenkrat edini (...) projekt v Sloveniji. (shrink)

The ethics of belief is concerned with the question what we should believe. According to evidentialism, one should believe something if and only if one has adequate evidence for what one believes. According to classic pragmatism, other features besides evidence, such as practical reasons, can make it the case that one should believe something. According to a new kind of pragmatism, some epistemic notions may depend on one’s practical interests, even if what one should believe is independent of one’s practical (...) reasons. In this paper I recount and briefly assess the debate between evidentialism and pragmatism. (shrink)

Değer yargıları zamandan mekâna değişiklik arz ettiğinden geçmişte ahlaki açıdan normal olarak kabul görülüp problem teşkil etmeyen bir davranış günümüzde gayr-ı ahlaki bir tutum olarak değerlendirilebilmektedir. Aynı şekilde toplum/devlet tarafından karşı çıkılarak suç kabul edilen olaylar ile bu suça yerel bir uygulama olarak verilen cezalar ise günümüzde şiddet içeren uygulamalar olarak görülebilmiştir. Bundan hareketle insani hedefleri ön plana çıkararak ahlaki ve hukuki açıdan insanlığa rehberlik ettiğini öne süren kimi ideolojiler/inançlar geçmişte kalan, günümüze hitap etmeyen kısacası güncel değeri olmayan düşünceler olarak (...) yerilmektedir. Kur’an da tarihin belirli bir döneminde indirilmiş olduğundan indirildiği toplumun yaşam standartlarına göre hükümler getirmiş ve bu hükümlerin toplumu düzenleyen en hayırlı hükümler olduğunu savunmuştur. Ancak değişen yargılar göz önünde bulundurulduğunda günümüz değer yargıları ile Kur’an’ın indirildiği döneme ait değer yargılarının çatıştığı dile getirilmektedir. Bu durum Kur’an hükümlerinin sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik, bilimsel, siyasal, askeri gibi hemen her alanda günümüze hitap etmediği ve uygulanamaz olduğu yargısına neden olmuştur. Böylece Kur’an, yaşamın tüm alanlarında marjinal bir eser olarak görülmeye başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada; günümüz değer yargıları ile Kur’an’daki tarihsel değer yargıları örnekler üzerinden incelenerek iki değer yargısı karşılaştırılmakta ve bu iki değer yargısı arasında nasıl bir ilişki olduğu tartışma konusu yapılmaktadır. Kelam ilminin kendine has metotlarıyla ele aldığımız bu çalışmada öncelikle Kur’an hükümlerinin tarihsel ve evrensel boyutu incelenmiştir. “Tarihselcilik” yerine “tarihsellik” ile “evrenselcilik” yerine de “evrensellik” kavramlarının kullanılmasının daha uygun olduğu nedenleri ile açıklanmıştır. Ardından Kur’an hükümlerinin bu iki boyutunun uyuşum halinde olabileceği ileri sürülmüştür. Bu uyuşumun sağlanması için de Kur’an’a yaklaşımların nasıl olması gerektiği maddeler halinde dile getirilmiştir. Çünkü Kur’an ile ilgili bakış açıları insan ürünü bir eserden farklı olarak kutsallık üzerinden şekillendiğinden zihinlerde yer eden bu düşüncenin öncelikle irdelenmesi gerekmektedir. Aksi takdirde Kur’an ile ilgili her türlü yeni yaklaşım yozlaşmanın bir ürünü olarak görülecek ve kutsallığa aykırı olduğu düşünülerek dikkate alınmayacaktır. Bu çalışmada, konumuzla bağlantılı olarak Kur’an’da geçen bazı tarihsel olaylar ele alınmış ve bu tarihi olayların arka planları değerlendirilmiştir. Ardından tarihsel olayların veya anlatımların evrenselliği engelleyecek bir yapıya sahip olmadığı, amaçlarına binaen farklı zaman ve mekânlarda da uygulanabilecek özellikleri ile anlatıldığı ileri sürülmüştür. Kur’an hükümlerinin tarihsel anlatım, evrensel mesaj birlikteliği sağlanarak ele alınması halinde bu hükümlerin anakronizme düşmeden asrımıza sunulabileceği dile getirilmiştir. Konu ile ilgili birçok çalışma yapıldığı göz önünde bulundurulmuş ancak sunmaya çalışılan yaklaşımın diğer yorum biçimlerinden farklı olduğu ve ilgili alana rasyonel bir yorum kazandıracağı düşünülmüştür. Bu yaklaşımla ilkelerinden sapmadan günümüze hitap edecek şekilde Kur’an’a dinamizm kazandırılacağı amaçlanmıştır. (shrink)

Philosophical theories about the nature of belief can be roughly classified into two groups: those that treat beliefs as occurrent mental states or episodes and those that treat beliefs as dispositions. David Hume's A Treatise of Human Nature seems to contain a classic example of an occurrence theory of belief as he defines 'belief' as 'a lively idea related to or associated with a present impression' (Treatise 1.3.7.5 96). This definition suggests that believing is an occurrent mental state, such as (...) judging, or thinking about something in a particular manner. However, a number of Hume's readers claim to find elements in his writings that are suggestive of a dispositional account of belief. Moreover, these elements are sometimes taken as signs of the inadequacy of Hume's account of belief and his dissatisfaction with it. This paper argues that Hume does hold an occurrence theory of belief, that he has deep-seated reasons for doing so, and that this theory of belief has greater explanatory power than its critics generally allow. I contend in particular that beliefs play an explanatory role in Hume's Science of Man that could not be played by dispositions, but requires that beliefs be introspectible occurrent mental states. Attention to the role of belief in explaining our actions, thoughts, emotional responses, and reasoning reveals that Hume is committed to treating beliefs as occurrent states. (shrink)

The task of philosophy is not to provide answers or solutions, but to submit to critical analysis the questions themselves, to make us see how the very way we perceive a problem is an obstacle to its solution. This holds especially for today’s public debates on ecological threats, on lack of faith, on democracy and the “war on terror”, in which the “unknown knowns”, the silent presuppositions we (...) are not aware of, determine our acts. Şeyh Mahmûd ez-Zokaydî (ö. 1877-1945), döneminin önemli âlimlerden biri olup muhtelif ilimlere dair yirmi bir eser telif etmiştir. Kaleme alınan bu eserlerin büyük bir kısmı akademik çalışmalarda tez ve makale olarak incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Mahmûd ez-Zokaydî’nin medrese öğrencilerinde eksik gördüğü yönleri tamamlamak amacıyla kaleme alıp medrese ders müfredatına dâhil ettiği Tecvîd risalesi adlı eserinin muhteva analizi ve neşri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Mezkûr eserin bilinen tek nüshası Zokayd Medresesi Kütüphanesi’nde bulunmaktadır. Eser, tecvîd konularının birçoğunu içermekle beraber bilhassa med bahisleri ve harflerin mahreçleri hususunda (...) tafsilatlı izahlar sunmaktadır. Çalışmada öncelikle, tecvîd ilminin tarihsel gelişimi ve Siirt havzasındaki medreselerde tecvîd ve Kur’ân tilaveti tedrisinin mahiyeti ele alınarak detaylandırılmıştır. Ardından, müellifin hayatı ve ilmî şahsiyeti incelenmiş, risalenin içeriği detaylı bir şekilde tahlil edilmiştir. Tecvîd risalesi, klasik tecvîd meselelerini müellifin özgün yaklaşımıyla ele alması açısından büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Eserin neşri, elimizde bulunan tek nüsha üzerinden yapılmış ve böylece hem bölgenin tecvîd literatürüne katkı sağlanması hem de ilmî camianın istifadesine sunulması hedeflenmiştir. (shrink)

Alenka Zupančič poses the question of whether current identitarianism jeopardizes the very core of any emancipatory movement—its genuine political dimension. She argues that true political universality does not arise from viewing the social field as a neutral container of competing interests struggling for recognition. Rather, it comes from addressing the antagonism and exclusions that are constitutive of that social space itself. When we truly include what has been excluded and repressed, we no longer find ourselves in the same social space. (...) Zupančič suggests that real emancipatory struggles always involve a short circuit between the universal and the particular, which is what makes them so explosive. As an example, she discusses the Iranian uprising, which she understands as both a feminist and a general struggle for emancipation and political change. She also critiques the perspective of the Western left, which often misses this singular political dimension and dismisses the uprising as yet another example of the ideological triumph of “Western imperialism.”. Questionnaire‐based consumer research was conducted in Serbia, as a country in a long post‐socialist transition. The focus was on consumers’ opinions of benefits and attitudes which motivate companies to act in a socially responsible way. Analysis resulted in a division of CSR motives into two main clusters: cluster I—stakeholder and value‐driven motives, and cluster II—egoistic motives, performance, and market‐driven motives. The division obviously concerned motives which were the socialist legacy (endogenous motives in cluster I), and motives imported from open market (...) economies (exogenous motives in cluster II). Consumers’ perceptions are significantly different for endogenous and exogenous CSR motives. Exogenous motives are perceived as principal companies’ motives to practice CSR, but there are no significant correlations between the perception of these motives and consumers’ purchase decisions. Endogenous, value, and stakeholder‐driven motives are perceived in a significantly lower degree as CSR motivators with highly divided consumers’ opinions and female consumers rating them significantly higher. Consumers’ purchase decisions are in a statistically significant positive correlation with attribution of endogenous, value, and stakeholders’ needs‐driven motives. (shrink)

The relativistic quantum mechanics with Lorentz-invariant evolution parameter and indefinite mass is a very elegant theory. But it cannot be derived by quantizing the usual classical relativity in which there is the mass-shell constraint. In this paper the classical theory is modified so that it remains Lorentz invariant, but the constraint disappears; mass is no longer fixed—it is an arbitrary constant of motion. The quantization of this unconstrained theory gives the relativistic quantum mechanics in which wave functions are localized and (...) normalized in spacetime. Though many authors have published good works in support for such a localization in time, the latter has been generally considered as problematic. Here I show that wave packets restricted to a finite region of spacetime are not a nuisance, but just the contrary. They have the physical interpretation in the fact that an observer perceives a world line event by event, as his experience of “now” proceeds in spacetime. Quantum mechanically this means that at a certain value of the evolution parameter τ the event is most probably to occur within the spacetime region around {ie1005-1} occupied by the wave packet; at later value of τ the position {ie1005-2}—and hence the time coordinate t—of the wave packet is changed. This is closely related to the interpretation of quantum mechanics in general. (shrink)

However, since the mutation rate varies along a genome and this variation can be subject to selection, organisms might evolve lower mutation rates at loci where mutations are most deleterious or increased rates where mutations are most needed. In fact, mechanisms of targeted hypermutation are known in organisms ranging from bacteria to humans. Here we review the main forces driving the evolution (...) of local mutation rates and identify the main limiting factors. Both targeted hyper‐ and hypomutation can evolve, although the former is restricted to loci under very frequent positive selection and the latter is severely limited by genetic drift. If the radical moment of the inauguration of modern philosophy is the rise of the Cartesian cogito, where are we today with regard to cogito? Are we really entering a post-Cartesian era, or is it that only now our unique historical constellation enables us to discern all the consequences of the cogito? The paper deals extensively with these questions on topics introduced by Catherine Malabou's Les nouveaux blessés (The New Wounded). Malabou proposed a critical reformulation of psychoanalysis, her starting point (...) being external shocks, brutal unexpected encounters or intrusions, due their properly traumatic impact on the way they touch a pre-existing traumatic "psychic reality". Malabou's basic reproach to Freud is that, when confronted with such cases, he succumbs to the temptation of meaning: he is not ready to accept the direct destructive efficiency of external shocks – they destroy the psyche of the victim (or, at least, wound it in an unredeemable way) without resonating in any inner traumatic truth. These cases of post-traumatic subjects show that if we take the "stories they are telling itself about itself," the narrative symbolic texture, away, something (or, rather nothing, a form of nothing) remains, which is nothing but the pure subject of the death drive. This is an idea of cogito at its purest, its "degree zero," and this is also the reason why today we so adamantly resist the spectre of cogito. (shrink)

The authorship criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) are widely accepted in biomedical journals, but many studies in large and prestigious journals show that a considerable proportion of authors do not fulfill these criteria. We investigated authorship contributions in a small medical journal outside the scientific mainstream, to see if poor adherence to authorship criteria is common in biomedical journals. We analyzed statements on research contribution, as checked by the corresponding author, for individual authors of 114 (...) research articles, representing 475 authors, submitted to the Croatian Medical Journal (CMJ) from 1999 to 2000. Only 40% of authors fulfilled the ICMJE authorship criteria. The authors listed first on the by-line were more likely to fulfill the authorship criteria than all other authors on the by-line. The percentage of authors fulfilling the ICMJE criteria of authorship decreased with the increase in the number of authors listed on the by-line. These results indicate that poor adherence to ICMJE authorship criteria is poor across biomedical journals, regardless of the size of the scientific community. Authorship and contributorship in biomedical journals, as well as editorial ethical responsibilities towards authorship criteria need critical redefinition and education of both editors and authors. The movement of middle and upper-class women demanding higher education as a path to emancipation, which ideologically began in the eighteenth century, became increasingly stronger and more organized during the nineteenth century. The University of Zurich allowed women to study in 1864, making it one of the first universities to open its doors to women. Besides Swiss women, foreign women who could not yet enroll as regular students in their own countries also studied there. Among them were Croatian women. Helene Druskowitz and Elza Kučera earned doctorates in philosophy. Vera Philippović, Ada Broch, and Zora Prica earned doctorates in English literature, while Isolde Betlheim, Zora Živković, and Katica Jakšić Musulin earned doctorates in medicine. (shrink)

There is reason for genuine puzzlement about Hume's aim in ‘The Natural History of Religion’. Some commentators take the work to be merely a causal investigation into the psychological processes and environmental conditions that are likely to give rise to the first religions, an investigation that has no significant or straightforward implications for the rationality or justification of religious belief. Others take the work to constitute an attack on the rationality and justification of religious belief in general. In contrast to (...) these views, I argue that Hume aims to establish two important claims in ‘The Natural History of Religion’. First, almost all popular religions, including popular monotheism, are deeply superstitious. Second, superstitious monotheism is incompatible with the variety of theism supported by the argument from design. This incompatibility puts significant pressure on the rational acceptability of popular religions. (shrink)

Skepticism seems to have excessive consequences: the impossibility of successful enquiry and differentiated judgment. Yet if skepticism could avoid these consequences, it would seem idle. I offer an account of moderate skepticism that avoids both problems. Moderate skepticism avoids excessiveness because skeptical reflection and ordinary enquiry are immune from one another: a skeptical hypothesis is out of place when raised with in an ordinary enquiry. Conversely, the result of an ordinary enquiry cannot be used to disprove skepticism. This ‘immunity’ can (...) be explained by theories such as contextualism, or sensitive invariantism. Moderate skepticism avoids idleness, because it can eliminate dogmatic elements from our commitments. An analogy is used to illustrate this: Consider someone who is rootless—someone who doesn't have a home. She won't take this conclusion to undermine her judgment that she is flying home for the holidays—even if she is sleeping in the guest bedroom. Similarly, a skeptic won't take the skeptical conclusion to undermine ordinary claims to know. Yet concluding that one is rootless is significant: it can shape one's commitments; for instance it can check one's nationalism. Similarly, accepting the skeptical conclusion is significant; it can undermine dogmatic commitments and ultimately bring about intellectual catharsis. (shrink)

If we hold that perceiving is sufficient for knowing, we can raise a powerful objection to dreaming skepticism: Skeptics assume the implausible KK-principle, because they hold that if we don’t know whether we are dreaming or perceiving p, we don’t know whether p. The rejection of the KK-principle thus suggests an anti-skeptical strategy: We can sacrifice some of our self-knowledge—our second-order knowledge—and thereby save our knowledge of the external world. I call this strategy the Self-Knowledge Gambit. I argue that the (...) Self-Knowledge Gambit is not satisfactory, because the dreaming skeptic can avail herself of a normative counterpart to the KK-principle: When we lack second-order knowledge, we should suspend our first-order beliefs and thereby give up any first-order knowledge we might have had. Bioethics implies moral obligations of people not only to each other, but also to everything living ). This is the science of survival ). If we see bioethics in this way, then urban life is necessary as a ethical object, purpose and scope, and "the city as a living creature that is constantly growing and transforming." Within the framework of the project the main goal is to create a list of urban bioethics standards. In order to activate the mechanism of urban bioethics, Iva talks about such valuable characteristics of local people as Responsibility, Committment, Awareness, Trust, Belonging. The project “European Bioethics in Action” fed into the list of bioethical standards. Iva Rincic also presented a list of 97 standards that determine relationships between animals, plants, people and environment. Further this list will be simplified for residents of the city. Iva wants all citizens to be included in these lists. She is also sure that this is the only way to have a rather bright tool to achieve bioethical city in the future. (shrink)

Bu makalede Platon’un felsefi iktidar talebinin ve idealinin daha önce Gorgias diyaloğunda dile getirildiği ve bu iktidarın büyük ölçüde ruhani bir karakterde olduğunu iddia edilmektedir. Bu iddiayı temellendirmek amacıyla diyalogdaki temel argüman ve kavramlar betimsel ve analitik bir yaklaşımla ele alınmıştır. Felsefe, ruhlarını iyileştirmek, yetkinleştirmek suretiyle insanları saadete ulaştıracak biricik gerçek siyasi sanat; filozof ise gerçek siyasetçidir. Sadece güç ve hazzı amaçlayan siyasete karşı çıkan Platon’a göre insanların mutlu kılınması ancak bir çeşit devlet hekimi olan filozof tarafından sağlanabilir. Onun için devletin yönetimi gerçek devlet adamı olan filozofa bırakılmalıdır. Böyle bir felsefi devletin icra edeceği gerçek siyasetin görevi sadece insanların maddi ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak değil, asıl olarak insanın asli yönü olan ruhun iyileştirilmesi ve selamete ulaştırılmasıdır. Das Kapitel bewertet kritisch Die drei Leben der Antigone, Žižeks erstes dramatisches Werk, das 2015 veröffentlicht wurde. Die Neufassung der Tragödie von Sophokles wird im breiteren Kontext von Žižeks Philosophie und anderen Adaptationen der Antigone Geschichte untersucht: denen von Sophokles, Jean Anouilh, Bertolt Brecht und Dominik Smole. Žižek hat Sophokles’ Antigone in zahlreichen philosophischen Werken interpretiert. Während er in seinen früheren Abhandlungen vor allem eine vorsichtige Zusammenfassung der Thesen Hegels, Heideggers und Lacans zur Antigone gegeben hat, ist seine Haltung zu (...) Sophokles’ Antigone in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich negativer geworden. Antigone sei kein geeignetes Symbol für eine echte soziale Revolte. Ausgehend von dieser Überzeugung hat Žižek seine eigene Version der Antigone mit einem alternativen Ende erfunden, in dem der Chor eine Revolution durchführt und Antigone zum Tode verurteilt. The Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania1 determines that both parents have to maintain their minors, while the state has to establish conditions under which parents would be able to do their duties, i.e. undertakes responsibility to maintain the children who lack the maintenance from their parents. Latter obligations are concretized in the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania2 (3.192–3.204 art.). It also anticipates the principles under which the child’s maintenance should be provided, its forms, size criteria and the (...) definition of its use and control. There is a theory that when parents are not able to fully perform the duty to maintain their children, the guarantees of the child’s constitutional rights oblige the State to secure quick reception of necessary financial support from other resources. Considering the existing social, economic, legal and other changes and sustaining both the analysis of court practice and doctrine attitude the article analyses present topicality concerning children maintenance, i.e. correspondence between child’s needs, parent’s wealth status and the prosecution of court’s decision, the correlation of state’s duty to children maintenance and parent’s responsibility, the peculiarities of majors maintenance.
