It is not only difficult to be a sports expert but also difficult to grow from a sports expert to a sports elite. Professional athletes are often concerned about the differences between an expert and an elite and how to eventually become an elite athlete. To explore the differences in brain neural mechanism between experts and elites in the process of motor behavior and reveal the internal connection between motor performance and brain activity, we collected and analyzed the electroencephalography findings (...) of 14 national archers and 14 provincial archers during aiming and resting states and constructed the EEG brain network of the two archer groups based on weighted phase lag index; the graph theory was used to analyze and compare the network characteristics via local network and global network topologies. The results showed that compared with the expert archers, the elite archers had stronger functional coupling in beta1 and beta2 bands, and the difference was evident in the frontal and central regions; in terms of global characteristics of brain network topology, the average clustering coefficient and global efficiency of elite archers were significantly higher than that of expert archers, and the eigenvector centrality of expert archers was higher; for local characteristics, elite archers had higher local efficient; and the brain network characteristics of expert archers showed a strong correlation with archery performance. This suggests that compared with expert archers, elite archers showed stronger functional coupling, higher integration efficiency of global and local information, and more independent performance in the archery process. These findings reveal the differences in brain electrical network topologies between elite and expert archers in the archery preparation stage, which is expected to provide theoretical reference for further training and promotion of professional athletes. Background Moral distress is a significant challenge faced by clinical internship nursing students. Most current studies investigate the impact of external factors on nursing students’ moral distress. However, there is a lack of in-depth exploration of the interactions between various moral distress items. Research objective This study aims to construct a network structure of moral distress among clinical internship nursing students, while exploring the touchpoints of moral sensitivity and moral resilience on moral distress, to identify potential targets for moral distress (...) intervention. Research design A cross-sectional design utilized acceptable validity scales. Network analysis was conducted using R (Version 4.4.0). Regularized partial correlation was utilized to describe the associations between different nodes in the network. Central nodes were identified through centrality indices. Participants and research context The participants in this study are 372 nursing students undergoing clinical internships at a comprehensive teaching hospital in Changsha, China. Ethical considerations This study was approved by the hospital ethics committee (Review Number: Express 241098). Written informed consent was obtained from all participants. Results In the moral distress network, the connections between MD3 “I provide life-sustaining treatment per the family’s wishes” and MD4 “Despite only extending survival, I implement life-saving measures” are the strongest. MD18 “Decline in service quality due to poor team communication,” MD19 “I ignore situations lacking adequate information for informed consent,” and MD17 “I collaborate with colleagues unable to meet the patient’s treatment needs” are the central nodes of the moral distress network. In the relational network, MD19 is a critical connection point linking moral distress with moral sensitivity and moral resilience. Conclusion Future interventions for moral distress could focus on the strongly related and significant distress (MD3, MD4, MD18, MD19, MD20, and MD17) mentioned in this study, and develop scientific and targeted interventions to reduce clinical internship nursing students’ moral distress. Although many studies have provided evidence that abstract knowledge can be acquired in artificial grammar learning, it remains unclear how abstract knowledge can be attained in sequence learning. To address this issue, we proposed a dual simple recurrent network model that includes a surface SRN encoding and predicting the surface properties of stimuli and an abstract SRN encoding and predicting the abstract properties of stimuli. The results of Simulations 1 and 2 showed that the DSRN model can account for learning (...) effects in the serial reaction time task under different conditions, and the manipulation of the contribution weight of each SRN accounted for the contribution of conscious and unconscious processes in inclusion and exclusion tests in previous studies. The results of human performance in Simulation 3 provided further evidence that people can implicitly learn both chunking and abstract knowledge in sequence learning, and the results of Simulation 3 confirmed that the DSRN model can account for how people implicitly acquire the two types of knowledge in sequence learning. These findings extend the learning ability of the SRN model and help understand how different types of knowledge can be acquired implicitly in sequence learning. (shrink)

This research empirically investigates the static and dynamic impacts of firms' digital transformation on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance by employing data of listed Chinese companies from 2011 to 2020 via estimations of propensity score matching and difference in differences. First, we find that digital transformation does some good to improve firms' ESG, which is confirmed after conducting several robustness tests. Second, digital transformation benefits the three aspects of ESG (environmental performance, social responsibility, and governance), and its impact is (...) dynamic, promote ESG two years after the digital reform. Third, the impact of digital transformation on ESG is not constant among different firms. Specifically, digital transformation's impact on ESG is stronger among firms located in western or central regions of China and to those in polluting and competitive industries, as well as among non-stated-owned enterprises. As artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into welfare governance, concerns about its legitimacy and public support are emerging. Across four studies with Chinese participants (N = 1336), this research examines how decision-maker identity (AI vs. human) influences public evaluations of legitimacy and program support, and explores the mechanisms underlying these effects. Studies 1 and 2 indicated that when outcome information was absent, legitimacy judgments of AI and humans were similar, although support slightly favored human-administered programs. These differences were associated (...) with perceptions of the decision-maker’s capacity to bear forward-looking moral and social responsibilities, rather than with perceived fairness or experience. However, these identity-based differences were not robust. They did not remain significant under conservative Holm–Bonferroni corrections and were attenuated when direct outcome (Study 3) or side-effect information (Study 4) was provided. Individual beliefs in machine heuristics and justice also moderated responses to AI and human decision-makers. These findings suggest that public responses to AI in welfare governance are conditional, rather than reflecting stable preferences or generalized resistance. They further highlight the role of perceived responsibility-bearing capacity in shaping acceptance and support in decision-making scenarios. (shrink)

ObjectivesAcupuncture therapy has been used for cognitive impairment-related diseases, however, there are still few studies on the overall trend of acupuncture therapy on cognitive impairment based on bibliometric analysis. The purpose of this study was to explore the research trend of the impact of acupuncture on cognitive impairment in the past 15 years, analyze the research trends and hotspots, and provide new ideas and theoretical basis for future research directions.MethodsFrom the Web of Science Core Collection, the relevant literature on the (...) treatment of cognitive impairment with acupuncture from 2007 to 2022 was retrieved. Then, based on the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software of the Java platform, the cooperation between countries and institutions in this field, the co-citation of journals and documents, and the cooperation between authors and authors, etc. were analyzed. In addition, the co-occurrence and burst analysis of keywords are also carried out, and a visual knowledge map is drawn.ResultsAs of August 08, 2022, a total of 394 records related to the treatment of cognitive impairment with acupuncture were identified. The analysis results show: The number and rate of annual publications have steadily increased, with some fluctuations from year to year. The countries that contribute the most to this field are China and the USA. Among them, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Capital Medical University are tied for first place in terms of the number of published papers. Tao Jing is the most prolific author and the number one cited author.ConclusionsThe number of publications on acupuncture for cognitive impairment is expected to increase rapidly in future research, suggesting a bright future for the field. Future research hotspots will focus on pain, injury, protocol, diagnosis, guidelines, etc. It is also necessary to strengthen cross-regional and cross-country cooperation among various academic groups. Background Caring behaviour is critical for nursing quality, and the clinical internship environment is a crucial setting for preparing nursing students for caring behaviours. Evidence about how to develop nursing students’ caring behaviour in the clinical environment is still emerging. However, the mechanism between the clinical internship environment and caring behaviour remains unclear, especially the mediating role of moral sensitivity and the moderating effect of self-efficacy. Research objective This study aimed to examine the mediating effect of moral sensitivity and the (...) moderating function of self-efficacy on the association between the clinical internship environment and caring behaviours. Research design A cross-sectional design used acceptable validity scales. The hypothesised moderated mediation model was tested in the SPSS PROCESS macro. Participants and research context This survey collected data from 504 nursing students in an internship at a teaching hospital in Changsha, China. Ethical considerations This study was pre-approved by the ethics committee of the medical school (No. E2022210). Informed consent was obtained from all students. Results The clinical internship environment ( B = 0.450, 95% CI = [0.371, 0.530]) and moral sensitivity ( B = 1.352, 95% CI = [1.090, 1.615]) had positive direct effects on nursing students' caring behaviours. Clinical internship environment also indirectly influenced students’ caring behaviours via moral sensitivity ( B = 0.161, 95% CI = [0.115, 0.206]). In addition, self-efficacy played a moderating role between the clinical internship environment and caring behaviours ( B = 0.019, 95% CI = [0.007, 0.031]), as well as the relationship between the clinical internship environment and moral sensitivity ( B = 0.006, 95% CI = [0.003, 0.010]). Conclusion Moral sensitivity mediates the effect of the clinical internship environment on caring behaviour, and self-efficacy strengthens both direct and indirect effects. This study emphasises the importance of self-efficacy in developing moral sensitivity and caring behaviours in nursing students. (shrink)

Photovoltaic power forecasting can provide strong support for the safe operation of the power system. Existing forecasting methods are ineffective for grid scheduling decisions or risk analysis. The novel multicluster interval prediction method is proposed to consider the volatility and randomness of PV power output. First, this method utilizes the sparse autoencoder and Bayesian regularized NARX network for point forecasting of PV power. Second, density peak clustering improved by kernel Mahalanobis distance is applied to classify the dataset into multiple clusters, (...) including forecasting error and meteorological factors. Finally, the joint probability density is established by multivariate kernel density estimation to accomplish the PV power interval prediction. The proposed hybrid method is applied for the interval prediction of PV power at Yulara, Australia. Comparative research of point forecasting is implemented to evaluate the machine learning and deep learning methods, with the proposed SAE-BRNARX under four different periods. Results shows that the average values of nRMSE, MRE, nMAE, and R2 for the four periods are 4.45%, 0.90%, −0.15%, 3.39%, and 95.93%, respectively. Moreover, the results of interval prediction obtained by the other interval prediction approaches are compared with the proposed KMDDPC-MKDE. It shows that the average values of PICP, PINAW, ACE, and nMPICD for four periods are 93.93%, 9.50%, 3.93%, and 7.10% at 90% confidence level, respectively. Outcomes demonstrate that the proposed method can obtain more accuracy, a higher coverage rate, narrower average bandwidth, and a closer distance between the middle of interval and actual value than other methods. During the period of the Wushu (1898) "Hundred-Days" Reform, modern Chinese philosophy stepped into the stage of development characterized by the growth and spread of the theory of evolution and of humanism. Kang Youwei, Yan Fu, Tan Sitong, and Liang Qichao were the representative figures of this stage. At the time, with a tremendous flair for vivid and persuasive writing, the young Liang Qichao broke through the bonds of feudal autocracy with the ideas of humanism, used "liberty" to oppose "slavishness," (...) and, by approaching the exploration of the meaning of "the freedom of self from the angle of new epistemology and new ethics, Liang played a major role and exerted a widespread influence on his countrymen in their intellectual emancipation. As he himself once said: "It can be said of Liang Qichao that he was the Chen She in the new intellectual circles." [Chen She, alias Chen Sheng, the famous rebel who started the peasant uprising against the Qin dynasty.—Trans.] Indeed, we may say that such a moniker would be quite appropriate for the Liang Qichao before 1903 (i.e., until Liang's thirty-first year); it would be a title that the young Liang richly deserved. As we review the liberal ideas and teachings of the young Liang Qichao even today, as we reacquaint ourselves with his writings of this early period, such as Lun ziyou shu (On liberty) and Xin min shuo (A discussion of the new people), we would still find among the words of these works a rich and overflowing sense of vitality and freshness, a feeling that there is much here for our enlightenment. Philosophical practice, characterized by its engagement with human experience and existential inquiries, integrates Eastern and Western philosophies to guide individuals in the art of living. It offers a philosophical (...) alternative to psychological counseling, focusing on reasoning to address life’s challenges and ethical dilemmas. The paper examines the integration of Chinese philosophy, particularly Confucianism, into philosophical practice, highlighting its relevance for contemporary counseling. It discusses Confucianism’s impact on philosophical practice, advances in self-cultivation and gong-fu theory, and the holistic Confucian view of body-mind integration, contrasting it with some Western approaches. We conclude that the practical dimensions of Confucianism oppose Western theoretical philosophy but align with Western philosophical practice. By employing CESCP, this research enriches philosophical practice, integrating diverse philosophies while respecting each tradition’s context. The approach combines Eastern relational perspectives with Western analytical depth, enhancing philosophical counseling and contributing to a global philosophical dialogue. Ben shu jie shao le gong zi zhen, wei yuan, yan fu, kang you wei, tan si tong, liang qi chao, chen tian hua, zhang bing lin deng wan qing si xiang jia de zhe xue si xiang.

It is hard to find a twentieth century Chinese philosopher who spent more time and more ink than Feng Youlan馮友蘭 in explaining the motivations behind and hopes for his philosophical work. Feng Youlan’s autobiographical descriptions can be found in the prefaces to many of his works and his retrospective summaries of his philosophical path as well as such classic sayings as “explaining the old state to assist the new mandate” (chan jiubang yi fu xinming闡舊邦以輔新命), “the six classics record felicitous origins, (...) and the three histories explain times past and present” (liushu ji zhenyuan sanshi shi gujin六書紀貞元三史釋古今), and “my mind contains four transformations, and my meaning is entrusted to the three pines” (xin huai sihua yi ji sansong心懷四化意寄三松). From such sayings as these we can see Feng Youlan’s diligence, self-appraisal, and state of mind. On the whole, the philosophical mission borne by Feng Youlan is closely related to his contemporary time where the Chinese people and Chinese state experienced great change. But this association cannot be limited to the notion of modernization in the sense of industrialization, that is, Feng Youlan expressed in his Xin Shilun新事論 (New Treatise on Practical Matters) that he wished to solve the problem of Chinese freedom. This was because Feng Youlan was always interested in the problem of reformulating the Chinese spiritual realm or ultimate concern. Max Weber once differentiated between instrumental rationality and value rationality, and accordingly, we can see instrumental rationality as a kind of rational work developed through practical motivations as well as such work’s achievements. In comparison to this, value rationality can be said to be the rational pursuit that begins from humanistic spiritual and value beliefs and seeks to obtain the self-perfection of the humanities. The main content of Feng Youlan’s value rationality that we will discuss here is his “theory of a cosmic realm” (tiandi jingjie shuo天地境界說). We know that this problem makes up a central element of Feng Youlan’s research. But I have discovered that other than expanding the application of this theory to the ecology and environment, previous discussions mostly revolve around Feng Youlan’s own rather concise explanation and did not reveal or develop its particular meaning of the spiritual realm and ultimate concern. After discovering this insufficiency, I have determined that it was necessary to overcome it. At the same time, I also hope to understand his value rationality against the background of the foundational intellectual framework of the “boundary of humanity and the cosmos” (tianren zhi ji天人之際) and the construction of modern Chinese value rationality. This paper explores the application of ethical thinking from the perspective of someone with the dual role of social worker and PhD researcher. The focus of the research was family secrets and their influence upon child-to-parent violence and abuse (CPVA). The participants were children and their parents, who, at the time of the research, were experiencing family violence and abuse.This paper was developed from a conversation between Lee-Ann and Louise. Lee-Ann was Louise’s PhD supervisor and was therefore involved in supporting (...) Louise in gaining ethics approval, as well as holding continued reflexive conversations about the ethical questions and dilemmas that arose throughout this study.This paper has shown the importance of hearing the voices of children within research about CPVA. Children can offer a rich layer of information that is seldom heard. It also shows that there may be a different lens through which ethics can be considered during research, not only the purely objective or academic, but also from a practitioner-researcher in a social care setting position.
