Abstract

The article is devoted the approaches and views as to the national idea research. Special attention is paid to the national idea concept in the works of the national-statements, especially S.Dnistryanski and O.Eyhelman. Also the present view on the structure and functions of the national idea is conducted. The problem of the national idea has a special place in the state building. Despite the difficulty in the study of the national idea, even in the definition of the national idea, the search for its continues. Analyzing approaches to national idea, it can be concluded that the national idea is necessary and required by the process of national state building and consists of elements such as national identity, the national ideal, national interest, national values and priorities, national calling, the national ideal, as well as the national character set of specific psychological qualities of the people.
