Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of Light Synth. It starts with an introduction to Teensy microcontrollers. These are programmed with the same Integrated Development Environment as Arduino microcontrollers. Moreover, PJRC offers the Audio System Design Tool, which provides a helpful visual design tool that makes it easy to instantiate and connect audio components in the Teensy Audio Library. The chapter explains that the Light Synth project demonstrates the combined power of Teensy microcontrollers, the Audio System Design Tool, and the Teensy Audio Library. It then describes how hands-on experimentation is the best way to develop fluency with a program language.
