Abstract

[Spanish] Este texto tiene por objetivo ofrecer un somero análisis crítico alrededor de la conexión entre «lo propio e impropio» de tal «espíritu filosófico», mostrando de qué modo opera la analogía entre «feminidad» y «orientalidad». Para ello, se explorará la naturaleza problemática de la analogía, y de la aducida «complementariedad» entre las filosofías «orientales» y «occidentales», así como entre la categoría social del género, al enmarcarse en una otredad mutua. Se argumentará que tales categorizaciones pueden ser esencialistas y, por ello, tener consecuencias nefastas en la teoría y en la práctica filosóficas. Las dicotomías, Oriente-Occidente y, en paralelo, feminidad-masculinidad, aunque presentadas en equilibrio, en realidad, refuerzan las asimetrías y las limitaciones en el pensamiento filosófico, por lo que es crucial desafiar estas analogías y los prejuicios que conllevan. [English] This text aims to provide a brief critical analysis of the connection between what is considered “proper” and “improper” to such a “philosophical spirit,” showing how the analogy between “femininity” and “Orientality” operates. To this end, it explores the problematic nature of this analogy and the purported “complementarity” between “Eastern” and “Western” philosophies, as well as within the social category of gender, insofar as both are framed through a relation of mutual otherness. It will be argued that such categorizations can be essentialist and, therefore, may have detrimental consequences for philosophical theory and practice. The dichotomies of East–West and, in parallel, femininity–masculinity, although presented as balanced, in fact reinforce asymmetries and limitations in philosophical thought. It is thus crucial to challenge these analogies and the prejudices they entail.
