Abstract

This paper is a collection of original source material for the use of all scholars interested in understanding Ernst Mach's life as an aid to comprehending his unique and controversial impact on the development of modern physics and both the history and philosophy of science. The documents are complete; and to encourage points of view other than my own, I have listed a number of very recent articles in my footnotes which reflect a wide spectrum of opinion on Ernst Mach and the singular nature of his ideas.
