Abstract

This chapter examines and discusses the specific phenomenological features of the experience of transpersonal gratitude. Some cognitive and emotional features of the experience have common elements with triadic gratitude, such as the recognition of the benefit, its gratuitousness and the wish to make a return. However, other features are unique to transpersonal gratitude. In particular, the chapter explores the phenomenological elements of the experience of transpersonal gratitude in terms of a lived experience where the benefit has central significance in the absence of a benefactor. The chapter concludes with a deliberation on concepts of intention and attribution in personal and transpersonal contexts.
